In July 202*, I filed an objection with the *** due to an error in their calculation of my 202* tax file. They had only considered my pre-bankruptcy CPP contributions, neglecting my post-bankruptcy contributions. For your reference, I filed for bankruptcy with MNP in January 2022 and was discharged in October 2023.This error resulted in an overpayment of approximately $***. While awaiting resolution of my objection, I made payments towards the disputed amount to avoid accruing further interest. In March 2024, I was pleased to receive confirmation that my objection was successful and a refund cheque for $*** would be issued "under separate cover."However, the cheque was sent to MNP in April and subsequently cashed by them. I believe this was an oversight, as the funds should have been directed to me. I contacted the *** in April and confirmed the cheque was cashed on the ****.I have also spoken with an MNP representative who verified that MNP cashed the cheque. To recover these funds, I was advised to contact my file representative with proof of my payments. Despite numerous calls and emails, I have not received a response from MNP.I understand that any tax refunds during my bankruptcy would be directed to MNP. However, in this specific case, the funds represent an overpayment I made to resolve a miscalculation, not a traditional tax refund.I am at a loss on how to proceed.

I am currently going through a bankruptcy and selected MNP Debt Solutions in ******* to assist me with that. That being said it has not been a great experience. I am at risk of being homeless due to them not paying attention to any details I give them. They have filed my income tax incorrectly * times and I have had my child tax benefit cut off, disability tax credit cut off for my son who is autistic. I have not been receiving any of my regularly CRA Benefits since April **** due to their constant errors and have had to resort to involving a federal MLA I do not think this is right for them to do this to their clients. I have pleaded with them to reach out to CRA and explain their mistakes and send a new letter stating they told me they could not help me anymore but that was not true they could reviewed their documents they sent in the second time and would of quickly realized that there was a mistake on the date in question again for a *** time. The person I dealt with to fix this a third time was great to communicate with and quickly sorted the paperwork but this will likely take another *+ months to resolve with the cra and I could be left homeless since I cannot afford to pay rent and other bills without my child tax benefit.

      Good afternoon.

      Thank you for your message.

The ****** class action parameters outlined what was required, and even if the participant filed a claim, if the dollar value was not at the level required in the court approved settlement, the class member would not receive a distribution.

MNP Ltd. completed its engagement and returned unclaimed funds back to class counsel for remittance to the cy-pres beneficiary outlined in the court approved settlement.

I engaged MNP for accounting services, specifically with ******. While the quality of the accounting work was satisfactory, I have encountered concerns regarding the cost structure. The charges incurred from ****** and her team are significantly higher, approximately five times, compared to other service providers in the industry.Regrettably, I was unable to assess the anticipated costs upfront, as MNP assured me of a fair pricing model without providing a specific figure or an estimated range at the commencement of the engagement. Subsequently, MNP has asserted that the work has been completed, leaving me with limited grounds for disputing the charges. This lack of transparency and the subsequent billing disparity have contributed to a less than favorable and, in my opinion, unprofessional experience. I would appreciate a clarification on the cost breakdown and a more transparent communication process for future engagements.I initiated direct communication with the concerned party in an attempt to collaboratively address the issue at hand. Unfortunately, they have declined to engage in resolving the matter. Consequently, I am now seeking the assistance of the Better Business Bureau (BBB) to facilitate a resolution and ensure a fair and equitable outcome.
