I had several mistakes made on my previous filing year with H&R Block (******* branch) on mine and my late wifes taxes. I decided this year to bring it to H&R block on **** *** **** *****. I brought my file in on April 26, 2022. I still have not heard back on my file as of May 20,2022 despite a few calls and a lot of run around. A mistake (made by H&R block) the previous led to having to make amendment to my previous year tax. Was told it should take 3 to 4 days. It is now coming to 1 month and still getting the run around. This is unacceptable as there sole business is to file tax. I made a complaint with head office last year, this year unfortunately I need to take this avenue. I guess if not resolved, small claims is next. I would really like to resolve these issues here, out of court.Business response

On April 23, 2022, I had an appointment with ***** Block at ********************************************************************** to complete my taxes. When I showed up, I asked the person at the desk how much this would cost, as I had never used the company before. He said that it depended on what was involved to complete them. I asked for some kind of range and once again he gave me the same answer. There was nothing on the wall or their website to suggest a price. I then met with the tax preparer and asked her the same question and she gave the same sort of answer. It took 30 minutes. It was not a difficult return - a few T4s, some RRSP contributions, some medical expenses and educational credits. I would be getting a refund of $20.60, which was what I had calculated out. As the preparer was finishing up, I reminded her that I was a student so if there was a student rate or discount, to please apply it to my ****. I couldn't believe how much I was charged. $229.99 for a basic preparation plus tax for a total of ******. Now I understand why I wasn't told the price. If I had known, I never would have gone forward with the transaction. I never would have expected such a well known company to employ such tactics as "gee, I don't know," when it very clearly says on my receipt "tax preparation" and I should have received clear answer of tax preparation started at $229.99. The next day I called the company and put in a complaint regarding their lack of clear pricing. It has been two weeks and I have received no response. I am hoping that by putting in my complaint through your portal that I may be heard and changes made to save someone else from this type of incident.Business response

Hello, i purchased H&R Blocks online tax filing service 2 weeks ago for $18.07 they promised for me to be able to file my taxes online with this purchase. After filling out all the information and clicking file my taxes they told me a error has occurred and my taxes were not able to be filed. This was a massive waste of my time and a waste of money. I have decided to do my taxes somewhere else when it is time. I would like my money refunded as they dd not provide me with the service i purchased.Business response

We dropped off our taxes at the ***************** ******* location on April 8th. We received an email saying our taxes were in good hands. We got a call from one gentleman, then were informed someone named ****** was going to be filing our taxes. After numerous calls, and ****** promising to get back to us at the end of the business day each time, nothing happened. It is now May 4th, and we've missed the tax deadline and will be incurring a penalty. We called H&R Block today, and all they could tell us is that ****** no longer works for H&R Block. Their temporary office (the one we went to) is closed, and nobody has any idea where our paperwork is. I'm extremely upset at their negligence. Hi,I was trying to file my tax through the h&r blocks online tax expert. On April 18, I reached out since they were ready to file my tax. They asked for my card details via phone to pay their fee. They later asked me to come to their office to sign the document they need to file my tax. I noticed that the amount charged on my card was different form what they shared.Immediately reached out to them and asked for a refund and, told them not to file my tax since I do not trust them. They are refusing to revert the charges even though they have not done the tax yet. The agent was lying when she told she shared the fee details previously , luckily they were using chat and I hope the conversations are recorded.Business response

Contacted the company on Mar 29 (many more calls since then), and filed Incident # ***********. I am not able to log onto my account, once i enter the user name/password I get an internal server error CAS: 500 internal error. This is not something I can fix on my end. This is an internal issue with their server. They have since closed the Incident twice - even though I still cannot log in. I have tried x2 laptops (Asus), x1 tablet (Asus), x1 android cellphone. I have used Chrome, Mozilla, and Edge. I have cleared cache, cookies, and one computer was brand new never used. This is an in error to their system. I am told that i cannot speak to a manager - they do not have a 'process' for that.Business response

During the tax preparation last year I was giving a paper from H&R Block saying that I have paid my debt to the **** that debt was not paid. The workers I have spoken to admit i should not have this paper and say it "a glitch in the system". I feel this is a mistake on their behalf. The company refuses to pay and has accused my for basically trying to ***** from them. Even though the company website say they will pay for mistakes that occur during the filing of my taxes.Business response

I am rejecting this response because: I have been told by workers that there is a glitch in their system that caused mistakes in the documents being printed. The amount paid box should have been blank. I tried to explain this to the person who called, but she started the conversation very aggressively. I don't expect anyone to pay my taxes as claimed by this company I simply feel that they should be held responsible for this glitch and apologize to me personallyfor this ********* claims.

Im used to do my taxes at H&R Bloc for years. But last Friday (march 11 2022) I went to a new office at ****************************** in Saint-******. The taxe professional refused to receive us (my boyfriend and I) in an office, she was giving all our information a the reception where everyone coming in could hear our confidential informations. She also gave us an appointment between 4:30 and 5:00 but she was answering questions about taxes whit other client on the phone (for a good 20 min). Then she was ******* us to sign documents whiteout giving us any information about the transaction she made in our files. She had to redo 3 times our income taxes after I questioned some very important points and she still didnt want to receive us in an office. She never ask me any questions regarding our taces. We paid for a service that we didnt get, I complained in the office about the service I was getting and it didnt change anything. When I asked why there were so many mistakes in my taxes, she said that an intern (stagiaire in french) had done our taxes. So I understand that no one qualified ever verified what had been going on whit our taxes. Thats unacceptable and the worst client services I ever had with H&R Block. I will never go back again, they charge my boyfriend an 100$ Fee for no services and certainty that our taxe where done correctly. All these mistakes can have a big impact on my taxes and my incomes. I want a refund and I want to file a complaint. Our first contact on Saturday march 5th 2022 was very bad, my second contact whit the company on the phone Friday march 11 *********************************************************************** the office.Business response

On Feb 23, 2022, I paid $172.42 to H&R Block to do taxes for my spouse and I using their online software. This included $59.98 for "Ask an Expert - Couple" coverage. I completed our returns, only to encounter a problem once the returns were completed: income coming from another province, for which I do not receive a ****** information slip (an RL), was not included in my ****** income. I used the "Ask an Expert" feature, but did not get a call back as promised. On Feb 24, 2022, I used their support online "chat' feature and after explaining all the details, learned that their online software cannot handle our tax situation because I don't get a ****** RL for my some of my income. I asked for a refund and was told the request was processed, and that refunds were at the discretion of their ******************* On Feb 25, 2022, I received an email stating a refund of $103.46 had been processed. I telephoned their customer service number included in the email to find out why I had not received a full refund. I was told that the $59.98 paid for the "Ask an Expert" feature was non-refundable. No explanation given. I believe that since their software does not handle our tax situation, I should be entitled to a full refund.Business response
