I rented a **** from BUDGET and declined their insurance because I have my own insurance. I backed out of the stall and the side mirror came off. They charged me $3500.00 to repair the side mirror.Business response

Budget Rent a Car (AKA Devon ********** brought a damaged vehicle into our ICBC accredited shop for an estimate repair on a 2023 **** Explorer LTD. The quote was accepted and the work was completed. Our rates are in line with industry standards and our workmanship is excellent. I did reach out to the lady that filed the complaint against us and she expressed that she felt our charges to repair the damage were higher than she expected. I did explain that the damage may have been more than she thought and that our shop performed the necessary work to fix the damage and nothing else. I truly believe this is an issue between Budget Rent a Car and the complainant.

I am rejecting this response because: I have researched other car dealers and am confident this price is extremely high above market price. My father just had his whole mirror replaced on a 2024 ACURA MDX for 1/2 the price.

Good Morning,
Our shop rates and repair costs are in line with industry standards at an ICBC accredited shop. I can appreciate the consumer's argument that she had a different vehicle repaired at a different shop for a lower price, however, the extent of the damage and the cost to repair vary based on the damage. We performed the necessary work to repair this vehicle and nothing else.

I traded in my 97' ***** CRV (which I was driving) & financed a 2014 ****** Forester through the Kelowna Chrysler Dodge Jeep Dealership on September 28th, 2022. After signing the paperwork, I was told I could not drive the car out of the lot because it still needed maintenance. The Dealership provided me with a Rental & brought the ****** to my work on the 29th. A week later I noticed a scraping noise. I tried getting a hold of the Salesman who sold me the Vehicle, on his cell phone & by calling the dealership & then finally discovered he does not work there anymore. I brought it back & they did some more maintenance (for a second time) Two weeks later the power steering malfunctioned. I brought it back. They did maintenance again (for a Third time) & noticed the Battery was faulty & they replaced the Right CV joint. They said I had to bring it back to get the left CV joint replaced. I got in the Vehicle to drive away & the battery died. They lent me a Second Rental which was a 2022 Mini Van that I discovered a day later had no Winter Tires on it. They also did not provide me with any Insurance for a Vehicle that was not safe & I'm pretty sure, *** ***** (after October 1st) on the Highways (especially in a Blizzard). They worked on it for a Fourth time. At this point I was done with this Vehicle and wanted to return it. I couldn't drive down the hill to the Storage Locker to retrieve the Summer Tires the Forester came with because the Van they leant me did not have Winter Tires on it. I slowly drove it to Kelowna, picked up the Forester, picked up the Summer Tires & tried to return the Vehicle the following day. The Sales Manager laughed when I asked if it was possible to get my CRV back. Then I said, I would like to return this Vehicle which is not operating properly & I can no longer miss work to keep bringing this it back. Initially they offered me $500 for my CRV. I put $1,000 down, I'm $1,200 out from missed work. I want to return the unreliable vehicle.
