Separate electrical outlet not installed for sump pump. Permit not pulled at the City of Winnipeg department. Leaking hose not replaced.Business response
06/07/2022
Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2022/06/21) */ Good Afternoon, I just received a better business bureau complaint filed by Ms. Andrea ******. We have tried reaching out to her on three separate occasions, 2 of those times asking to arrange a time to have our estimator meet with her to sort out any outstanding issues and have not received a response. Please note that we have been trying to rectify this issue but have been having a hard time receiving any communication on Andrea's end. Thank you. Sincerely, Jordana Seal-Rite Foundation Repair ************ Consumer Response /* (3000, 7, 2022/06/22) */ (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.) I emailed Seal Rite for several weeks after I paid them with a cheque. I first contacted the BBB about 3 weeks ago and it was after that I finally received an email response that the manager was going to contact me with my concerns. I waited another week and did not have any contact from the manager so I filed a formal complaint. Meanwhile the last several weeks I contacted the city of Wpg permit department & was advised that no permit had been pulled for the sump pump installation at my address. This was confirmed by daily checking the city of Wpg permit site online. I dispute that the office administrator tried to contact me 3 times. It was only after the initial BBB contact a few weeks ago that I finally received a response. In that particular email I was advised that the manager would contact me. He did not until yesterday, June 21, when I spoke with him. I feel I should not have to wait several weeks for the job to be completed as per properly installing an electrical outlet for the sump pump & addressing another leaking pump hose. There was no follow up from the company for these issues. I know everyone is very busy but I shouldn't have to contact the BBB in order to get a response. Actually, I am sure the company knows that they have to put an outlet plug specific to the pump & contact the city of Wpg. I hope they do this for their customers as it is part of their job. I did not want to go to the BBB but I felt I had no choice. Business Response /* (4000, 12, 2022/07/05) */ One of our representatives met Andrea on site and tightened the discharge hose. If anything goes wrong with the hose Andrea knows to reach out and we will come back out to ensure everything is functioning properly. We have picked up any required documents from Andrea for the permit application which is being submitted today and once the permit has been issued we have arranged to have an electrician out to install an independent plug for the sump pit. We have been in touch with Andrea and will keep her in the loop as the permit process progresses. Sincerely, Dave ****** Seal-Rite Foundation Repair ************ Consumer Response /* (2000, 14, 2022/07/06) */ (The consumer indicated he/she ACCEPTED the response from the business.) On Monday July 4, a worker from Seal Rite attended and tightened the outside pump hose. It was raining at the time so it was not possible to see if this corrected the issue but the worker advised to contact Seal Rite if the leak is still occurring. I signed the appropriate documents and look forward to the electrician attending to install the outlet.Initial Complaint

In the Spring of 2021, my husband and I accepted a quote from Seal Rite foundation to complete some repair work ($********) that needed to be done on our foundation and paid a $**** deposit. We were told the work would be completed in the summer. In July we had not heard from Seal Rite, and contacted the company and were advised they would attend in August. August came and went and we did not hear from them. In September I called and was told they would be at our house the day after Thanksgiving, October 12th. They did not show up that day and when I spoke with the owner Dave he said they'd be there that week. I did let him know that if they did not show up we would be requesting our deposit back as we had been waiting all summer for the work to be completed and did not want to wait any longer. The crew did show up the next day, and the majority of the work was completed in a timely fashion. They did not backfill the entire amount as we were told the ground needed to settle, and they would be back in the spring to finish the job. This spring, we contacted the company and were told that we needed to wait for the ground to dry up. That was months ago. I have since emailed and tried to call and have not received a reply. We would really like to finish this project and do not want to wait another summer for this company to finish what they are obliged to in the contract. Any help you can offer is greatly appreciated.Business response

Business Response /* (1000, 6, 2022/06/15) */ Hi Dan & Sarah, We completely understand your frustrations and would love to resolve this matter for you immediately. Seal-Rite takes great pride in providing great customer service and we would like to apologize for the oversight on our end this spring. It has been an extremely challenging start to the year with the unusual amounts of rain which has resulted in an extremely high volume of calls and emails. As much as we have been trying to get back to everyone and not miss anything, evidently this is something that we will have to work on improving on our end to ensure new and existing customers are well taken care of in a timely manner. We appreciate you bringing this to our attention and I have reached out via email a few times since yesterday as I would like to rectify this and have stone delivered to you by the end of the week. If there is anything else that we can do for you to show our appreciation that you trusted Seal-Rite with this project, please let me know as we would like to make this right. Sincerely, Seal-Rite Foundation Repair
