I recently sold my house in Winnipeg and required assistance of able bodied persons to help load heavy furniture items into my moveable storage pod in my driveway. I contacted Get Movers and made arrangements for the provision of 2 men for up to 3 hours to assist with this task between 2 and 5 pm on June 29. The booking confirmed that it included things such as furniture blankets, plastic wrap, packing tape, dollies, etc. * **** ** ** ************ ** ******* ** ********* *** *********** ******** On the day of my booking, 1 person arrived at the designated time of 2pm. He was inappropriately dressed, wearing slip on sport sandals. He brought no supplies. I asked him about the plastic wrap to wrap my furniture such as dressers and cabinets to keep the doors closed and protect the finish, including an antique cabinet, and wrapping my sofa. He said it was not included and I had to purchase anything needed and have it on hand. I showed him the booking confirmation which clearly showed it was included. He said only the labour was included. He called the "office" and they told me the same thing. I could either continue without the plastic wrap or they would leave. As my storage pod was being picked up the next morning, I was caught in a very difficult situation as the pod had to be loaded. I had no choice but to move forward. I also had to help this fellow load the pod as the 2nd person did not arrive until approx. 3pm - 1 hour late. Neither appeared to have much or any experience with furniture moving and packing a storage pod. They used my own packing take to tape dresser and cabinet drawers shut and placed it across my dining table to hold the leaves closed. In one instance they took a roll of scotch tape to attempt to keep my dresser drawers closed. Without my involvement in both carrying items out of the house and in organizing the storage pod, the job would not have been completed. The packing tape damaged my furniture .Customer response

I wanted to add that in addition to the tape residue left on my furniture from the packing tape, my antique cabinet had some of the finish removed when I pulled the tape off. I’ve tried a few different products to try and remove the tape residue but it remains on my dining room table causing it to be sticky in spots.
All in all this was a horrible experience from the unprepared and unskilled labourers, to the misrepresentation on my booking confirmation as to what was included, to lack of response from the company to my email. I paid for the labour of two people for 3 hours, and they were supposed to provide the plastic wrap for my furniture. My furniture would not have been damaged with tape residue if they had used the plastic wrap which was supposed to be included per the booking confirmation.
