On September 10, 2021, I purchased as counter top and sink at Counter Corners in St. John's,NL. When purchased I was told to have a custom order, I will have to pay in full. I paid $766.42 on September 10, 2021. I reached out to Counter Corners multiple times with the delivery status of this counter top, and the answer always was they have a number of orders ahead of me before they can order the slab of stone. When I arrived home April 7, 2022 after being at work for a month, I reached out to Counter Corners again and with no answer. Today April 14, 2022 I went to St. John's to visit the store and see why they never answered the phone, and seen the sign on the door. The sign stated "Notice Unfortunately Counter Corner Ltd. Is Forced to close due to lack of skilled labour. At this moment in time, it is unknown if reopening is possible. Management. With Counter Corner closed, I am out $766.42. ****** ******Initial Complaint

On December 13th I signed a contract for the supply and installation of corian countertop at a property under renovation and intended to be my principal residence this spring. The contract required I pay 75% deposit ($6,071.79) and the contractor took possession of my sink to undermount. I paid this in full on December 14th. Installation was anticipated within 8 weeks but I was told by email on February 17th that it was delayed due to supply issues and would be late March or early April. I then received a phone call in the week of March 17th saying my job was the next to be fabricated and I would hear in the week of March 22nd. I started telephoning to follow up on March 24th and almost daily (on business days) for a full week. No answer. No voice mail. I emailed the store on their website address and also directly to the agent I had dealt with (****** ******). No reply. I went to the store twice only to discover the door locked but no other sign that it was closed. I hand delivered a letter to the store and sent it registered mail to the 2 Directors shown on the Registry of Companies. All of these documents are attached to this Complaint. At this point I have no idea if Counter Corner actually paid for my countertop from its supplier. I do not know where the countertop is. My sink however would definitely be in their store.Initial Complaint

Purchased a full set of granite countertops plus sinks from counter corner in February Templating was done feb 18 2022 Called to ensure we were still on schedule for delivery for April 24 as agreed and could not get an answer emailed several times with no response I was able to get the person was the lighting store across the road from this business to go take a look and there is a sign on the door that states due to a skilled labour shortage they are closed and do not know when they will reopen I have continued to contact them for over a week now with no success and I don’t know where else to turnInitial Complaint

On Feb 7, 2022 after an employee visited my home for measurements, I paid for a countertop which was to be ordered and take approx 8 weeks until delivered and installed. For the past 2 weeks I have been unable to contact the business, it appears to have closed. I noticed yesterday one of the company’s vehicles is for sale on ******.Initial Complaint

Put a deposit on purchase and installation of new kitchen counter top. September 39th we have $3,000 down payment. October 13th we have an additional $1322 deposit. The quote I have by email from them if needed. I have tried calling ( no answer and no voice mail). Door is locked past 3 days and nobody around. we ordered counters Sept 28, 2021 from Counter Corner Ltd. 86 O'Leary Ave, St. John's NL and paid $3,767.57 which I have a receipt for and have not received said counters. I have been calling them every few weeks to see where the counters were and was told due to Covid they were delayed. I called again today and I have not been able to reach them to enquire where they are, the phones are just ringing. I heard that they have gone out of business and I want to see if I can possibly get out money back.Initial Complaint

In December 2021 we engaged Counter Corner Ltd. to measure for and install a new kitchen counter top. We paid a significant down payment of 75% and were told that was now the norm. We were also told not to expect delivery and installation before the end of February. At the end of February I called to inquire as to the status of the order, inform tham that we needed a delivery schedule so as to arrange for the purchase and install of back splash subsequent to the new counter. They had no delivery date to offer. I asked how much it would cost of the $5800.00 and taxes I had paid to cancel my order. They asked for time and phoned me back to offer to bring my order to the forefront with their Quebec supplier. We agreed to it. As of March 22nd we have been attempting by phone, through email and direct visit to their premises to make contact and secure our counter top. To no avail. Contacted my lawyer who, though surprised, offered us best of luck. On Thursday past we ran into a friend who has regular dealings with a business across the street from Counter Corner and he indicated that there have been no cars on the parking lot and the business has looked dormant for more than 2 weeks. Contact with a company a couple of doors down uncovered that Counter Corner had shuddered its doors at the beginning of the pandemic w/out informing anyone of the move and later reopened. We would prefer to complete the transaction based on the time it has taken to this point, but we are happy to get our money back as well.Initial Complaint

Placed an order August 2021 to purchased/install a ****** Countertop with Counter Corner Ltd. The purchased agreement was to be delivered and installed by November 2021. During our followup conversations, the company keep promising delivery in another couple wks starting back in early December 2021. My wife and I recently (last 2 wks) notice that the office location appears to be shit down. No lights on in the building and nearby businesses confirm no one has been entering that business location. We are greatly concerned that this company may be gone out of business. Counter Corner Ltd has my deposit of over $6164 and I want to know the status. Please help me determine if this business is still operational. Will I get me deposit back?Initial Complaint

We hired this company to supply and install countertops last month. We have not been able to connect with the company for two weeks. They are not answering the phone and the office has been closed.
