We hired this company to complete a retaining wall/drainage job at our basement entrance. Since we moved to this property in the last year, we had been experincing significant flooding, which would pool right at out basement door and result in the basement of our house flooding. We requested a solid, symmetrical retaining wall and set up for flower gardens. We are not landscapers and took them to know how to do this job properly. We were away on vacation while the work was being completed. The walls were installed and when "completed" it looked like it was only half complete. The job was completed August 30th. After going through a fairly "easy" winter with not a lot of snow, the walls are already leaning to a point that they are going to collapse any day. ** *** * ******** *********** ******* **** ** *** ******** **** **** **** *** *** **** ****** *** **** **** ********* *********. **** **** ********** ******** **** ** *** **** ** *********** *** *** **** * ****** ******. **** ****** **** ********* *** *** **** *** ****** ********** ***** ********. ** **** ********** ** **** ******** ******* ** **** * *********, as this is not the first issue this separate company has had to come back and "fix" the work that Renovamen did. Initially I was quoted 5,617.75 for the work to be done. The day that they were to start work, I received a message saying "Hi Carrie, We just went to pick up bricks and they are sold out. The bricks were 2.00 each and the next best price is 4.00. This is a price increase of 1100 dollars". Because we urgently needed the work completed to prevent our basement from flooding any time it rained, I ok'd this relying on them to purchase the proper supplies.62 Overall the work done was extremely horrible, to the point where I am absolutely embarrassed to tell anyone that I actually paid a company to complete this work. We are going to have to have another company come to repair/tear down and re-do this job properly.

We have offered to repair the wall as it should not have fallen over. Customer will not allow us to inspect the damage or the reason for the failure so we cannot determine the cause. We were not notified about any issues with the work for 8 months after completion and only by the BBB. This is not how this should have been handled.

We have offered a refund upon us picking up the materials that were used. Again, no communication from the customer.  At this point we cannot determine why the wall failed as it could have been something the customer did. We feel this has been handled very poorly by the customer as Renovamen always makes things right.

      Customer response

I am rejecting this response because:

I received the response from the business that they would provide me a refund, but only after they came and took back all the bricks, rock and drainage pipes that are all underground. This is acceptable and we will allow them to come and collect this material and be given a refund. However before this happens we need to have another contractor lined up to redo the work required because if Renovamen rips everything out this will again leave a huge mess at our front entrance. Once I have a time/date lined up for this they are more than welcome to come pick up their “supplies” and provide me a refund.
The reason why they only just heard about the complaint now is because the wall collapsed. But we have also experienced significant loss due to a very traumatic barn fire recently in which we lost the lives of multiple animals which was horrendous for us to cope and manage. So this “wall” was the last thing in our brains right now, until it collapsed. And, I have multiple pictures through the winter of the wall slowly starting to lean. I am not an idiot and have worked in many professional gardening companies, and we have not touched any of the area that they did the work in for us…so this was in no way our “fault”.
As soon as I can line up someone who will do the job correctky for us Renovamen may come pick up their stuff. I do not feel it would an acceptable or professional for the business owner to blame his employees for the sub par job that was completed, because he was on vacation.
Furthermore, a concern I have is what if Renovamen come, remove all their “supplies” and in the process damage our house/property further.
