I am a retired veteran from the Canadian Armed Forces, and Case Design took on the project to renovate our bathroom. The majority of the job will be paid for by Veterans Affairs and a lesser amount is paid by us as we wanted extra work done during the renovation. The cost of the project being $63,778.42 ($45,320.00 plus HST is what VA is paying and $18,746.42 plus HST is what we are responsible for. From the beginning things were delayed, some things are still not completely finished. But due to the poor treatment we received, and the lack of quality work throughout the project we feel that the remainder of the monies that we owe should be waived. We explained to Case why we feel that we should not owe any further monies as we have already paid $19,403.53 of our own money. We are requesting that the remainder of money that we owe be waived plus receive our warranty information. Once that agreement is made we will sign off on the Veterans Affairs invoice so they can receive that portion of the money. This decision was not an easy one but because of the disrespect given to an injured veteran, poor quality of work, no transparency from Case to give a break down of the costs of the job, and their coming and going during this time of COVID got to be too much to deal with. Finally, we told them that we did not want them to come back and finish what was outstanding. We had enough, and wanted nothing else done by them. Once we contacted them letting us know how we felt, we were sent an additional invoice and a nasty email. Therefore, we need someone to go between to get things settled.
