I paid everything I owe to ********** and it’s still flagging a payment from 2017. I paid off ********** back then not knowing I had to pay credifax instead. I was young I didn’t know I thought I owed it to ********** , Now credifax is saying I owe 561 from 2017 with accumulated interest. I did in fact pay ********** up to date and I have not been able to get in a rental due to this issue since Monday Oct 7. This matter is not getting resolvedBusiness response

We have no information regarding any payment that the complainant alleges to have made. There is no difference whether the complainant paid Credifax or our client. We have spoken to our client on multiple occasions and have been advised that they have not received payment for the debt incurred in 2017.
The complainant needs to send us proof of their payment to attempt to verify receipt of it by our client and whether it is for the correct debt. The principal amount of the debt is $236.10, which has now accrued $316.22 in interest, as the debt was incurred 12/05/2017.
We have no control over the complainant's ability to rent from our client, as our client manages their own do not rent list based on unpaid accounts.Business response

We were only advised yesterday by our client that they were finally able to locate your prior payment and that they have now removed you from their Do Not Rent list.
Although it appears that you paid that balance months after it was listed for collection, we are still removing it from your credit file as we are unable to ascertain the exact date of payment since you never provided any details of when or where the payment was made. This would never have been an issue for you if had you and provided proof of payment to us back in 2018.

I contracted ************************* of A1 *********** to replace the subfloor and update my plumbing in my bathroom of which he said he was qualified to do. This occurred in Dec 2023. During this time I asked him for a quote for putting up bedroom doors. Please note I was not living in the home yet so he was being let into the home by a family member. **************** decided to put up 3 doors w/o giving me a quote or seeking out my consent. He then proceeded to try to charge me an amount of $1780.88 for the putting on 3 doors, the completion of the bathroom and bathroom plumbing. I advised him that I had not agreed for him to put up the doors and would only pay for the renovations to the bathroom and him putting up 3 light fixtures that I had agreed to have him put up for $300. Plus he had caused damage to my drywall when putting in the bathroom vanity which cost me $200 to fix as he did not know how to fix the drywall himself. I paid him $1500 via e-transfer. Subsequently in the month of Feb 2024 I contacted **************** about the plumbing he had cut and glued together for the bathroom that was leaking which damaged the drywall in the kitchen area as the bathroom was above the kitchen. I also sent him video footage of this. I left him voice messages on his phone and sent him text messages to which he did not respond to. Then I received a phone call from **************** from Credifax who advised I owed **************** $2062.93. I advised her that I did not and sent her an email of the original invoice that **************** had sent to me of $1780.88, however it was agreed upon to pay him $1500. Subsequently ***************** me $500 for the plumber that I had to pay to fix his poor plumbing job and $200 for fixing the drywall that was damaged from the leak. I advised **************** via email that I did not owe the amount of $562. However Credifax has listed the fictitious amount of $562.93 on my credit report as of April 17, 2024. Please see attachments of my email correspondence with ****************.Business response

I am rejecting this response because: Credifax has not provided a timeline as to when the fictitious amount will be removed from my credit bureau, both TransUnion and Equifax. I would like the fictitious amount to be removed from my TransUnion and Equifax credit bureau immediately. Furthermore they have not addressed that **************** **** provided an invoice with a fictitious amount and he and they have violated my rights in relation to the ******** of ****** and ************************** ******** Services ******************* policy and procedures. I would like to know how they plan on rectifying this.

We made the request for removal to both credit bureau reporting agencies. We have no control over their timeline for removal. The complainant can follow up with the bureaus directly if required. As far as her claims regarding our client, she will have to follow-up directly with them as our file has been closed. Credifax has not violated any rights of the complainant.Customer response

Complaint: ********
I am rejecting this response because: Credifax has placed a fictitious amount on my credit bureau despite me advising of such and providing proof to them. Credifax has reported to TransUnion and Equifax that I owe **************** **** $562, and that the date of delinquency for this amount was Oct 12, 2023. I did not even know who **************** **** was in Oct 2023. I was introduced to him on Nov 27, 2023 and he proceeded to do the renovations in Dec 2023 of which I paid him the agreed upon rate for and thus owe him no outstanding balance. I advised Credifax of this and sent proof of this, and further sent them proof of the cost of the damages that I have experienced due to the faulty work that **************** **** did on my plumbing resulting in a leak and water damage. However Credifax disregarded this information and placed their fictitious claim/collection onto my credit report, which has negatively impacted my credit score and opportunities that I was seeking. This is a direct violation of my rights. I want proof that they have retracted their fictitious collection from both Equifax and TransUnion and that they requested for an immediate removal of their fictitious collection, as well as proof that they have closed their file.
Sincerely,

Hello,I would like to file a complaint against Credifax Limited. This company has been calling me and saying I owe ********** Rent a Car money. This is not true, and I do not owe this company anything. I've told Credifax Limited this multiple times now. I've also told them multiple times that I would like to dispute this debt, and I suggest ********** Rent a Car or Credifax take the matter to court. They still keep calling me.This company is in *******, and the law states that a collection agency cannot contact you without your consent if you: write to the collection agency and say that you dispute the debt; and suggest that the matter be taken to court.******************************************************** I've sent them emails and told them on the phone that I wish to dispute the debt and to take the matter to court. But they keep calling. Breaking the law.Business response

I conducted a detailed review of ************************ outstanding account with ********** **********. The file was listed on 02/09/2024 for $597.89. Upon our first contact with *******************, he told us "we should go after insurance". We advised him that that was his responsibility and he needed to follow-up with them as it was his insurance and privacy laws prevented us from contacting his insurance. He became belligerent using profanity, so it was necessary for us to end our first call. We made several subsequent phone calls each time he used profanity and then hung up on us. While the account was listed on February 9, no mention was ever made of ANY dispute until he emailed us on March 27 stating that it was a dispute and that he would file a formal complaint with the ******** of ******** and Corporate Affairs if we didnt stop calling him. No details have ever been provided with respect to his alleged dispute.
Ive attached his original rental agreement and the invoice for additional mileage and fueling as he did not top up the fuel upon returning the vehicle. Upon the review of the file and the clients documentation, I see no reason any dispute. I have also attached his email claiming that there was a dispute.
A review of Mr. ********* credit indicates that he has other creditors who are unpaid and have either written off their balances or assigned them for collection. It is my opinion that his alleged dispute is nothing more than a means to avoid his creditor.
Since the receipt of the email from *******************, we have initiated no further contact with him by any means. We have closed Mr. ********* file however, we will continue to report the outstanding collection to his credit file where it will remain for the next six years. I can only suggest that ******************** resolves this outstanding account in order to improve his credit standing.

Better Business Bureau:
The first time this company call me. Yes, I told them, "They should get ********** to rent a car to contact my insurance company." Because they are the ones that owe them money, not me. I'm allowed to use profanity when you guys are laughing at me during the phone call when I tell you I wish to dispute the debt. I hang up, and you call back, saying, "I'm sorry we got disconnected laughing." That's harassment.
This man said "A review of Mr. ********* credit indicates that he has other creditors who are unpaid and have either written off their balances or assigned them for collection. It is my opinion that his alleged dispute is nothing more than a means to avoid his creditor." My credit with other companies should be none of this man's business. I don't have to explain to them what's on my credit report that has nothing to do with them.
All you have to do is look at this company's ****** reviews, and they speak for themselves: nasty, condescending, rude, unprofessional, highly aggressive, *** ******** *** ***. This man will say, "Our collectors are not rude to people" or "All other collection agencies have negative reviews from people who owe money; this is very common with this type of business," like the previous complaint made here on BBB. I guess we are all lying. *** ***** ****** **** **** *** ********* **** *** **** ******* **** **** ******* *** ********
This man said, "No details have ever been provided with respect to his alleged dispute." and "I see no reason any dispute. I have also attached his email claiming that there was a dispute." This is something this man and his employees could not understand and still can't understand. " The law says that a collection agency cannot contact you without your consent if you: write to the collection agency and say that you dispute the debt; and suggest that the matter be taken to court." I don't have to give you details. All I have to say is that I wish to dispute the debt, and you can take the matter to court yourself. Learn the law in your own province. ********************************************************

We have no comment to Mr. ********* rhetoric. He has made numerous claims about the law that are inaccurate. To start with his insurance company doesnt owe the money, he does, in accordance with the terms and conditions that he signed. **********'s agreement is with ********************, not his insurance company. If his insurance company pays on his behalf, then it is Mr. ********* responsibility to contact his insurance to file a claim against with his policy. To the best of our knowledge, we know nothing about his insurance company, his policy number or whether he in fact even filed a claim with his insurance.
While there are no laws about individuals like ******************** using profanity, our personnel do not have to listen to it.
His credit file is relevant as we are legally able to obtain a copy of it in order to assess credit worthiness or ability to pay. No one has asked ******************** to explain whats on your credit file. It is a record of his credit history with various creditors. A credit file establishes an individuals financial character.
No one ever accuse ******************* of lying however, that does not change the fact that he still owes the debt. We do not require consent to contact individuals who we have a legitimate claim assigned to us for collection. We have provided proof of the debt with the supporting documentation. However, we are required to stop contacting him upon receipt a written no not contact letter which we have done upon receipt of his email of March 28. It is accurate for him to state that he does not have to provide us with details of the alleged dispute and we have not contacted him requesting details of his claim.
******************** is correct;collection agencies do get poor reviews as they are more often reviewed by disgruntled people who owe money. Complaining to the Better Business Bureau does not change that fact that the money is owing to **********. In addition to reporting this collection to ******************* credit file, he should be aware that he will never be able rent a vehicle from **********, National, Alamo, Discount, Car Share or any other brand that ********** owns, any time in the future while this debt remains outstanding.
I will not respond further to any of Mr. ********* commentary, rhetoric or insults about our knowledge of the law, as it changes nothing. Its worth noting for ******************** that the details of the collection laws in ******* can be found on our webpage at *********************************************** Collection and *************** Services Act, for his review and information.

None of the complainants issues have anything to do with Credifax. It would appear that the complainants insurance did not pay any of the rental as the complainant expected. It is important to note that it is the complainant's insurance and his responsibility to ensure insurance pays in accordance with the complainants policy coverage.
The complainants $300 deposit was utilized as it appears that insurance did not pay any of the rental. The complainant should follow up with that his insurance or file a BBB complaint against his insurance company however, it is important to note that it is the complainant's insurance, not Credifax's, nor **********'s. In addition, it is also important to be aware that insurance companies do not rent vehicles, individuals do. The complainant's insurance company made a reservation with ********** and advised the insured that they would cover the rental for the duration of the repairs to his own vehicle. ********** merely billed the complainant for the period of time the complainant had the vehicle. Again, it had nothing to do with Credifax or **********.
The complainant needs to take this matter up with this insurance. If they cover the outstanding amount due, the complainant will get his deposit back.
The bill for the rental is in the complainant's name and he signed the rental agreement. Consequently, the complainant now owes ********** ********** $1277.16. Complainant needs to follow up with this insurance company to determine what amount they will pay however, payment to ********** ********** remains the complainant's responsibility.Business response

This individuals complaint is regarding his understanding from his discussions with his insurer and ********** ********** . It is unrelated to the collection of any outstanding balance. The complainant needs to understand that his insurance did not rent the car they reserved it on his behalf and committed to pay for it. Any outstanding balance that they did not compensate ********** for has nothing to do with Credifax.
Credifax cannot refund monies paid to ********** for vehicle rentals. This individual was advised back in September 2022 that he needs to contact his insurance if they did not pay on his behalf as it is his insurance.Customer response

We do not dispute what you believe you were told with one exception, your insurance company made a reservation for you and authorized you to spend up to $1500 on rental of a replacement vehicle. Unfortunately, your insurance company never made payment to **********. Since the vehicle was rented by you as per the attached signed rental agreement in your name, your deposit was applied to the $1,352.30 cost of the rental leaving $1052.29 outstanding (invoice attached). As your insurance company never made payment, the rental balance remains your responsibility until it is paid. Only you can follow up with your insurer to have them remit payment. Neither Credifax ************** can follow up with your insurer in accordance with privacy laws. It is your insurance. If insurance takes responsibility for the outstanding amount and issues payment for the full amount, the reporting of this debt on your credit file will be removed.Customer response

I am rejecting this response because:I have notified ************** ******** **T ************ Collections as well as Credifax of the following,
1.I was advised on three occasions,as detailed in my previous attachments, that I will not be responsible for any rental charges.
2.**********,had a arrangement directly with the Insurance provide for the collection of rental charges.I was requested for a deposit specifically to cover other charges.,to mean traffic tickets etc.
3.I was never advised, as to I will be underwriting the payment arrangement between ********** and the Insurance provider , nor did I consent to it.
4.The agreement clearly states, payment is to be from the Insurance provider.********** relied on the understanding it had with the Insurance provide to rent me the vehicle.
5.Further the agreement clearly states that ,my estimated charges to be zero.It states the amount that can and will be billed to the insurance provider.
6.It is the usual practice, for rental charges to be collected on the return of the vehicle. If so,why ********** waited two weeks to raise the invoice after the return of the vehicle?.
7.If ********** was not paid by the Insurance provider, why is it ********** not perusing collection form them?.
8.If the invoice is relying on the agreement how can a agreement for one day , be used to raise an invoice for 3 weeks?
9.None of the above parties, including Credifax, have not rejected any of my my submissions nore responded to same.
Details relating to these matters ,were all in the attachments sent previously.
Further ,I would like to to advise Credifax, none of the submissions that I have ***** are merely my belief. They are factual recollections of what transpired during course of this transactions.

I had a ticket from ********** ******** that was never sent to my address, they simply passed it on to this company who made no attempt to contact me by phone, only by an old address. I spoke with someone on the phone last year and paid the fine, I was told on the phone it would be removed from my credit file if it was paid, it was not. They also left the claim open with the credit Bureau's despite it being paid almost a year ago. When I called and asked for help the woman on the phone lied to me and said it was "not their problem" and told me I should have paid and how it is now on me to go around and speak to the credit bureau's to have it closed. I was lied to on the phone and told when it was paid it would leave my file and now they are saying they will not do it.Business response

The above-noted debt was assigned to Credifax for collection on 12/10/2021 by ********** ******** for an unpaid parking ticket when the complainant rented a vehicle from ********** **********. A letter dated 12/11/2021 was mailed to the complainant notifying him of the collection assignment of the unpaid citation.
The complainant should have been aware of the parking ticket as they are normally placed on the windshield of the vehicle at the time of the offence.
Debts for this client are not reported to an individual’s credit file for 60 days from the date of assignment (grace period).
On 01/10/2022 we issued a second letter to the complainant providing him with payment options. Mr. ******* contacted this office on 01/14/2022 upon receiving our correspondence, he spoke to a collections Officer who again provided payment instructions. Mr. ******* advise the collector that he would be paying the debt at that time, which would have been long before the expiry of the reporting grace period.
We made several additional attempts to contact Mr. ******* by telephone and issued 2 further letters to Mr. ******* without reply. We did not we receive any returned mail from the above-noted address.
At no time was Mr. ******* told that this would be removed from his credit file. We do not negotiate payment on the basis of removal of our reporting obligations to the credit bureaus once the grace period has expired. When we first spoke to Mr. ******* on January 14, Mr. ******* would have been told that the citation had not reported to his credit file. We also issued a letter on February 8, 2023 warning the complainant of the impending reporting of the citation to his credit file without a response from the complainant.
On 07/19/2022 we finally received payment by email money transfer, more than 7 months after the debt was assigned for collection.
If this collection had not reported to Mr. ********* file, it is unlikely that he would have paid this obligation. Once the grace period expired 60 days after the original assignment, this debt assignment becomes a permanent blemish on his file for the next six years. We have updated the status of this debt as paid.
No corrective action is required, nor will any change result on the complainant’s credit report.

I first received a letter dated 5/27/2022 regarding two charges, $7.00 and $9.34, for a total of $16.34 relating to ********** ******** ***. I sent an email to the collections officer on 6/16/2022, asking for back up documentation for the charges, and expressed disappointment that ************************* had not reached out to me directly, as I rent from them frequently. After no response by 6/21/2022, I followed up with a second email. I received a reply on 6/22/2022, suggesting that the tolls were for 2x ****** invoices, however I had no rental business with this corporation in the province of Ontario. I further asked for detailed invoices, as well as a signed rental invoice. On 6/24/2022, I was notified that the charges were actually related to highway *** in Montreal, with descriptions of the vehicles. These charges are valid, and not contested, however they are business expenses and receipts are still required. Meanwhile, I have received follow-up letters dated 6/23/2022, 7/23/2022 and 8/31/2022, which was a FINAL NOTICE and a comment that I should "Govern myself accordingly". On 9/15/2022, I called the new collector and asked for an update - specifically for the invoices required, and asked why I'm still getting letters threatening to damage my credit report, when I have been actively driving the conversation since mid-June. The employee became increasingly ignorant, suggesting that it is my responsibility to communicate with ********** ******** directly, to obtain the necessary documents. Business Response /* (1000, 15, 2022/06/22) */ Complaint Case ID ******* ****** ****s. This person rented a vehicle from ********** ********** and it was returned with damages on May 25, 2021. She declined to purchase insurance from **********. Credifax received the account because of non-payment and 2 collectors made contact with Ms. *****. Ms. ***** told the collector on August 30 2021 that she could not pay at this time. She was not called again until September 29, 2021, and Ms. ***** told another collector she could not start payments for 6 months. No payment has ever been received. Letters were sent and messages were left asking her to contact us to make suitable payment arrangements. Our collectors are not rude to people, yet some consumers seem to think we must tolerate their abuse. All other collection agencies have negative reviews from people who owe money, this is very common with this type of business. Creditors have the right to collect money that is due them. Credifax is governed with rules and frequency of contact. It is not Credifax's fault if people incur debt and have difficulty paying it. Ms. ***** has made no attempt to make payments yet dislikes being reminded of her obligation. We are still open to a suitable payment arrangement. Methods of payment are shown on all our letters. I wonder if it was reversed, how Ms. ***** would see it if someone damaged her property said they can't pay for it and not to contact them because it is harassment. ********************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************* As far as negative comments on the web, as stated before - all collection agencies are subject to this type bashing. I hope this is satisfactory. Thank you Thank you
