Unfair judgement and disputing process. I had to go through the nightmare of giving a showing to 2 renters who were dishonest about their marital status, they claim to be married but the last names were different. In their pre screen it said they made 110k a year, no comments. After the showing the couple said they were very interested to take the place. I had them complete a rental application with full credit check, i found it the guy was in a lot of debt. When i asked his wife if i can talk to him about his financial situation, they were both of with it. Seeing that the really wanted the place i asked the guy if he is okay trying to get his debt consolidation, he said okay. Then as the screening continues, the guy kept asking if they'll be reject because of his debts. When i tried to nicely decline by explaining that it doesn't make sense to pay more for rent while still in debt, he picked up that I'll likely reject him. He got mad, told me to stop telling him financial advise, told me they will look else where. The next few days i get him using a fake email threatening to ruin my renting process. He goes to rentals.ca and likely ****** , reported as a **** and got it taken down. I have to go through the trouble to email rentals.ca everything i know giving out all my supporting documents but not able to talk to anyone about these 2 trouble makers who can't accept rejections. It's funny how there's so many fake renters/ ***** in these sites, but the rules favor the renters more than the landlord, yet it is the landlord who pays rentals.ca for marketing and contributes to their business. The landlord has to upload their official government IDs, While the renters can make up whatever **** they want, including fake accounts and they don't get reportedRentals.ca Response

Hi *****, and thanks for using Rentals.ca. It sounds like your issue is more with the 2 renters than with Rentals.ca. Please note we are working to add more screening features to make it easier for you to gain further insights on prospective renters earlier in the process, helping you save time. While it is unfortunate that this user was dishonest and acted in bad faith, the vast majority of renters are honest, and as such, we take their claims very seriously. We are sorry for any inconvience caused by this renter who lied, though I checked our logs and it appears that our support team was able to resolve this on your behalf, and your ad is now live. While we have no control over users' actions off-site, I would like you to have a positive experience with Rentals.ca, so can offer you a free upgrade next time you need to post a listing. Please just email our support team and we will help you with that. I will go ahead and block this user from submitting leads in the future to ensure this does not happen to any other landlords such as yourself. Thanks for sharing the feedback, though I how you will re-consider your rating or Rentals.ca. Thanks, and please reach out to our team if you have any further questions.Customer Response

I can confirm that Rentals.ca did acted on resolving my solution after emailing them proof everyday for 3-4days and including notifying BBB.org. I did everything I could to ****** for attention to look into this as I couldnt call to speak to anyone. I also requested rentals.ca if they can block the people who reported me, but the customer service rep said that they cannot do it at this time.Review from Xuejie Q

****** ** ******* ***** ***** **** ******* ******* **** **** ******** It came to my intention after someone called me to inquiry about an ad posted on rentals.ca about a property that is under a purchase agreement between me and the current homeowner. The ad was posted on rentals.ca ** * **** ** ********** ****** **** ***** *** ******* ** not authorized by me as a buyer. In addition, the listing monthly rent on the ********** ad is significantly lower than the current market price for a single detached house. I immediately reported the ad on rentals.ca webpage. I got an email reply from rentals.ca, and later the ad was taken down. However, people kept calling me about an ad on rentals.ca. I went back to rentals.ca webpage, and found the same ad was up on webpage again, but in a different location, a few blocks away from the actual property location. I reported again. However, this time, rentals.ca didn’t take much action after my reporting. Lots of people kept calling me. I worried about very much and went up to rentals.ca webpage, send them a message through the site’s “Contact Us” page, and reported the ad one more time. I also made a phone call to rentals.ca, but nobody answered my phone, and left message to them. Though finally rentals.ca blocked the ads from their site. But one of the two ********** ads remains displaying the property after copying and pasting the original URL to a web browser, **** ******. I am in the process of reporting this incident ** ******** ********** ****** *** ***** *** ********** **************Rentals.ca Response

Hi ******, thanks for bringing this to our attention, as secruity and safety is of the utmost importance to us. As such, we have a number of steps we put in place in an attempt to try to catch fraud listings and ensure they never go live in the first place. Along with reviewing listings, we have a number of security measures to ensure users are aware of the potential for fraud listings, and the steps to report them. We continue to work to better our service, and will take this feedback to heart as we work to further improve our service.Review from Trevor C

Rentals.ca was referred to me so I listed a condo unit. It seemed to be ok, so I listed another one. Soon after both properties were Disapproved. I couldn't figure out what was wrong and listed both of my properties on ********** in the exact same manner without a problem. ********** has as a handy site and it generated numerous good leads. Both properties are now leased. I tried to phone to Rentals.ca to learn what to why my listings were disapproved and what to change but there is no way of talking to someone. I emailed them and was told: "Please note that we have an extensive approval process. With that said, we regret to inform you that our automated security system could not activate your listing. We are not at liberty to provide any further detail. " I am now in the pains taking process of getting my posting money back. One was credited March 3rd, still working on the other March 24, 2023.Rentals.ca Response

Hi ****** first off, my apologies for any inconvenience you might have experienced! In an attempt to prevent fraudsters, we implemented a number of automated security measures to try to detect suspicious users based on their browsing history. It appears the system flagged your account. We are always working to balance protecting users with easy of use, so we will look into these systems to see if there is a way to further verify users rather than outright disapproving your listings. As for getting your money back, if you email *******@********** someone from our team will help ensure any money is refunded for disapproved listings. We try to handle all support items via email rather than phone, as it allows us to better keep track of clients' requests should we need to investigate further. I appreciate the feedback, as we will try to make our posting process more transparent and easy for users to get their listing approved.Review from Florrie M

Thanks for reaching out. I just tried both of the numbers on our website and they are both in service, and both allow you to contact either our sales team or our support team. That being said, the best way to reach us is by submitting a support ticket on our Contact page (please note that the form on the right is for support). However, I checked our system and I am not seeing any tickets associated with I just checked our ticket logs and I do see that someone from our team (Sarah) responded to your question within 1 business day. As she had noted, your listing was rejected due to suspicious activity. We have numerous filters in place that are meant to protect our users from scam listings. As Sarah had mentioned, we cannot reveal the proprietary nature of our filters. When this happens, the best bet is to ensure you have unique copy on the property description, as well as high quality photos. I do apologize for any inconvenience, but I hope that you understand that the protection of our users is our number on priority. ***************@*******.com, nor am I seeing any account in our database associated with that email. Did you use a different email address by chance? Lastly, as for why we disapprove some listings, this is done to protect our users from fraudulent posts. We use a proprietary algorithm to rank each listing by how safe it is, and reviewed further. Those that are deemed suspicious are then disapproved. I'm sorry for any inconvenience this had, but I hope you understand that we are committed to the safety of our users. If fill out a ticket on our contact page, someone from our support team will respond within 2 business days.Review from Ozlem O
