The billing department REPEATEDLY either 1) does not correctly file/bill insurance or 2) marks bills as self pay instead of billing to insurance. 3 out of 4 bills received from ********* services provided, all during the month of April, 2024, were filed incorrectly, and one was sent to collections as a result of THEIR mistake. They are currently updating and resolving all claims, HOWEVER I believe this ridiculous amount of errors shows that someone is neglecting their handling of very important medical information, and as not all are able to fight against this neglect of duty, I am making my complaint to draw attention to the severe lack of attention to detail or ability to do their jobs correctly.Business response

I had several different procedures done by the hospital in Nov. 2023. I received 3 bills. For 1, I**;m disputing the payment. I contacted their billing office & my insurance company more than once to get resolution, but I haven**;t gotten anywhere. The billing office made me feel like I**;m stupid & didn**;t understand, when it fact it**;s all about the math. The bill in question is for service date 11/15/23. Total charge was $2236.00. As per their contract with the insurance company, the hospital received payment from insurance for $2141.37 (as per billing office detailed statement). That only leaves $94.63 outstanding. Considering I already had to pay a self pay of $148.60, the hospital has already been overpaid by $53.97. However, I had not met my deductible in full as of that time and the hospital added the amount for remaining deductible on to my bill in the amount of $536.62 (as if it was a service they provided) and send me a bill for $482.95 (even that math doesn**;t make sense - overpayment + $536.62 =$482.65 NOT $482.95). If I pay this bill, the hospital would receive $2772.95 in all for charges only being $2236.00 in the first place, an overpayment of $536.92 (which is also more than my deductible - math doesn**;t add up yet again). I am aware of how deductibles work & it should have been deducted from the insurance payment in the first place, but since there seems to be set amounts for services, the insurance paid the contract amount. How can the hospital now collect more money than what the total charges were in the first place? I just keep getting told by ******* office "You have to pay your deductible", which would be no issue if the hospital wasn**;t going to get extra money out of this deal. How can they charge me more than the total was in the first place?Business response

I checked all phone records (mobile and home) and there are no records of anyone calling me regarding this complaint. Also, there were no messages left at any point or time with any information regarding this matter either. I'm not sure what number was called, but it doesn't seem to be mine. I am a former ************* employee that was injured by an inmate. I have already paid this bill before. There has been a mistake in the billing department, so I am now out another $414.00. The account is **********. I am requesting that the company apologize for its lack of oversight in its customer service. I am requesting an immediate refund with interest attached, due to it having to be paid by credit card. I am requesting cease desist of all communication: write, calls, or even third party. At this time, the lack of care shows the lack of care by the hospital. I hope the customer care is improved greatly. Attached is my payment evidence.Business response

Decatur Morgan Hospital Is reporting bad on me for nonpayment of ***** to the credit bureaus. I don't know if it because I moved that I never received a hospital bill from them or what, but I found out about several things on my credit today and will be taking care of these things today. I never received a bill. I never knew I owed them. I put in a change of address to have my mail forwarded when I moved. I have received all my bills from the wreck except this one. This is not the first time DMH has done this, they also gave my wife a hard time when she called in to find about payments she possibly owed. It is a practice of the messy women in the billing ***** that have been employed there for years to give certain customers bad customer service.Business response

I am rejecting this response because:They did not say they are removing this from my credit report.I didn't receive a bill, so I didn't know I owed them. I paid this bill the day I found out about it she said she would work on getting this removed and obviously have not done this.
I have done right by this company as much as I can. I would like no further calls from this Hospital.
Sincerely,
