Date of contract to install LVP flooring 8-24-23. Paid 70% deposit for flooring and materials and labor. Flooring was originally quoted at $3.79 sq ft and found out is was $3.49 sq ft. Asked for itemized list of materials purchased but would not provide it. Brought materials that were not matched to the flooring. Deposit was paid in advance to purchase materials and materials were not purchased until start day which was supposed to be on 9-5-23 and did not start until 9-6-23. Job was not completed until 9-29-23 due trying to find right materials. I had walls that were damaged in the process and have not been repaired. I had multiple bedroom furnishings that were damaged and they brought me a furniture scratch pen that did not work, damage is still very visible. Owner of the company came out a total of about 4 or 5 times. Each time he came out I expressed my concerns about the quality of work and he proceeded to tell me as he stated not to scare you but if you dont pay the balance my workers do not get paid and therefore they can place a lien on your property. I have pieces of flooring coming up and cracking and I have called and left messages with the owner and he is not returning any calls. The first piece popped up the evening of 9-29-23 not long after they left. I called and he answered then and when I told him what happened he said he would be back to look at it and now we are almost 2 weeks out and I want my flooring, walls and furniture repaired as he stated he would. In the contract it states that the company will work with homeowner in good faith and timely manner. I paid the balance of the contract on 9/29/23 which was cleared. Can you please help me get my damages fixed?

      6-7-2024  Good morning,

We are sorry to hear that ********************************** wasn't pleased with our work. When the job was completed she told me otherwise.
She has a few complaints that were addressed before we called the work complete. The number one complaint she had was that the door casings were cut to high.
Her casings were made of compressed fibers, which had been wet/ due to cat urine before we went under contract for her job. Most casings are made of pine or MDF.

The job took a little longer than expected due to the customer requesting the floor to be pulled up 4 different times for personal reasons. ******************* also took it upon herself to pull staples while we were working.
She claimed she wanted to tell her husband that she could do this type of work. The same evening she called me frustrated and stated that her dresser mirror had fallen over and that she was upset due to it having scratches on the furniture.
We offered a solution that morning, which we fixed the following day.

Another complaint that ******************* had was that the flooring she wanted to put down wasn't in stock at Floor and Decor. We offered to make two trips; one to ********* and one to **********, to accommodate her.
She accepted our offer and we went and picked up her flooring, free of charge.

We completed the job, and tried to accommodate her in every fashion. I thought we had done so as she made her final payment the day of completion.

      Complaint: 20718473

I am rejecting this response because:
The statement that the business owner made about the door casings being wet or cat urine is false. Yes the door casings were cut too high, that was an issue. The main issue is flooring that was not installed correctly by his employees. This is tongue and groove flooring that in some areas were not properly laid and have corners popping up causing the flooring to crack and chip. I even offered to pay for more flooring to have him fix but he did not respond. They laid the transition pieces in the doorways with adhesive instead of using the installation material that was made for them. My walls were never repaired and the bedroom furniture is still damaged. He made a statement that he addressed that the next day is false. I have records of text messages to him for almost a week asking him to come look at the furniture and he never responded, he just showed up one day. He actually walked in my house and was here for several minutes before even acknowledging me. The only reason that they had to take up flooring and put back down was due to the fact that it was popping up and since it was tongue and groove that was the only way. His employees were not skilled workers for the job. There were no issues with the materials that was supposed to have been purchased by the contractor. We were at Floor and Decor the morning we paid our deposit and confirmed with the store that they had all materials needed. We left the store and met with ******************* at his office and gave him the deposit and he said he was going over to the store to purchase the materials which he evidently did not do and had to find the day they started.
I took extra time off work because he did not have the crew he originally started he would use so the job took longer. He had promised 5-6 crewmen and there were never more than 3 when they were here and sometimes they would drop off 1 worker and return later that day to pickup.
You can have anyone come and take a look at the work they did, nothing has changed. My walls are still damaged and flooring is continuing to come loose and cracks in various areas. I keep a well kept home and I and my neighbors and friends can attest to this.
I believe that I was taken advantage of due to the fact that my husband was not here during the installation or inspection. I had furniture that was damaged, walls that were damaged and flooring that cannot be replaced now due to  it being discontinued now.
I want compensation for my furniture and walls. The flooring at this point is hopeless. It is a shame that we paid this company in good faith that they would complete the job and repairs as they stated they would in the contract and verbally after damages were done. I submitted photos on my first complaint and could submit many more if necessary.
      Sincerely,

      *****************************

2-14-2023  In the case of ***************, ******************** did complete the work that was discussed in the contract. Upon uncovering the floor he did indeed let her know that she needed new floor joist. He went under the house in the crawl space and added moisture barriers and 2 4x4's under the house. That was not discussed in the contract, he did that so that the customer would be satisfied. We also have that on video.  ******************** went out to ******************* Resident yesterday evening to assess what else she wanted to be done.

On May 4, 2022 I contracted Green Spaces LLC to lay down new sod and to paint the interior of my home. I spent $3200 for the sod install and an additional $3200 for the paint job. He installed the sod in the evening when I was unable to see the quality of it and when I woke in the morning the sod looked old and dry. I expressed my concerns to the owner, Lance Fletcher and he assured me that in no time after watering the grass, the expected quality of the grass would transform to healthy green grass. I have repeatedly texted, called and sent photos of the awful sod to Mr. Fletcher. At first he indicated that he would come and do everything to get the grass to turn but he never showed up. Now he is refusing liability for the quality of grass he installed at night. He has ignored my emails to him concerning the sod and has ignored my request for remedy. I am a senior citizen and considers this unacceptable and unprofessional behavior. I have requested a refund or replacement of the sod and he has ignored my request.

I was contracted to install sod for Ms. ****** ******* on may 4th, 2022 and was installed in the daytime, the job did last until dark per request from Ms. ****** herself. We also stayed in contact about the multiple tasks we had taken on for her including the remedies for the semi dormant sod we had all agreed upon installing with the understanding that it needed to be cared for after installation. In good faith we also purchased a water sprinkler and hose and she was very pleased with my efforts to jump start the growth and development of the installed sod squares. I also have the communication from her excited about the progression of the yards green color which would prove that there was no foul play in the installation or bad sod squares. We kept in contact and I explained the steps to take for further progression of color and growth leading up to this complaint.

      Customer response

      08/16/2022

I am rejecting this response because:

There was no remediation.  The sod laid down remains dead.  I have a text messages from Mr. Fletcher stating that he would make it so the sod provided would eventually turn green, or Green Spaces would patch up the places where the dead sod lay. After 90 days, the sod is still dead.  I have proof of watering the grass as instructed, and the water bills will prove this fact.  We also had a substantial amount of rainfall, and yet the sod is still dead.  I have repeatedly asked Mr. Fletcher to replace the sod, and sent him pictures.  The above answer did not address the mission of Green Spaces to ensure customer satisfaction. To me this was a non-response as there were no expressions of remorse nor an apology, neither an assent that this sod remains dead. There is also the matter of an incomplete job as I still have straw that was allegedly placed in areas where the grass was to grow.  This straw needs to be cleaned up.

I want my money back for the sod which was $500, the $250 rental fee for a machine, and $500 for the cost to correct the shoddy work done. I regret that I have had the sod replaced, as my original sod was better than the sod laid down by Green Spaces.

      Business response

      10/18/2022

10-18-22 ******************** called BBB and said, he does not give a warranty on sod installation. When he left the job, the sod was green and doing good. He has no control over how a homeowner may or may water and fertilize after installation. ******************** offers as a goodwill gesture to come back in the spring to see if there is anything he can do to revive the sod.

BBB suggests you give ******************** a call in the spring to schedule a date.
