Purchase four Groupon vouchers to use for my daughters birthday dinner. I made reservations, which was the only restriction on the voucher. I came with family for dinner. I informed the manager that I had Groupon vouchers that I was going to use to pay for the meals he gave me an option of either using the Groupon vouchers that had or getting a free birthday dinner, I informed the manager that I will be using the vouchers as I had purchased them on Groupon to use for this special day. We sat down and ate when it came time to pay I was informed that I was only able to use one voucher and not all four. I was highly upset and embarrassed. The manager was rude and didnt want to take the time to assist me with the vouchers. The guy waiter as well as the manager, reviewed the vouchers and they seen that the vouchers had no restrictions other than making a reservation and showing up for the dinner. I was not able to get nowhere with this manager at the Berkeley location. I proceeded to call the Danville location to speak to ****, which is the manager there. Once speaking with ****, I found out that he was the one who had created the Groupon on the website Groupon he apologize For the inconvenience, but I was still not able to use all four vouchers even though there were no restrictions and therefore he was going to contact Groupon to address issue. I contacted Groupon and inform them of the issue and they reviewed the Groupon at the time and stated that there were no restrictions on how many coupons can be used at one time and that therefore they would get in contact with the company but it will take approximately a week. I have been calling the Berkeley location to get in contact with the ************* but the man that answers the phone is not able to connect me or give me any information on the ** where I can either email or call. The next morning I checked the 3 remaining vouchers and noticed that someone had edited the vouchers to state that only one voucher per party.

      Business response

This is in response to complaint ID: ********. The complaint is unfounded, and unjustified. The customer tried to use multiple groupon vouchers during their visit when it clearly states "one groupon per party." See Complainant's attached picture IMG_0917. Even if it's not clear that one groupon can be used per party, it is clearly states "Reservations required" which means that a reservation has to be made to even receive the benefits of one voucher. The Complainant never made a reservation on 01/27/2024. See the attachment IMG_0917 and see attachment WeekendSchedule_Reservations_212161_01-27-2024

It has been the restaurant's policy in the past to allow one groupon voucher per party. Along with many businesses, we intend to work with Groupon from time to time to drive business by allowing persons to buy vouchers but to use one voucher per party or one per visit. It simply doesn't make objective business sense to offer a significant discount on each voucher and allow guests to use multiple vouchers to cover the costs of an entire bill. That was never the intent and as shown under "Things You Should Know", it was stated to use only "one Groupon" per party or reservation. But as stated above, Complainant never made a reservation. Therefore, we strongly stand by our notions that the aforementioned complaint is unfounded and should be dismissed. Thank you for your time.
