online ad states:WATER RESTORATION CARPET REPAIRING, CLEANING, CARPET AND VINYL INSTALLATION Initially, *********************** gave me a phone estimate. However, I insisted that he see the job before I booked the work. When he came by to see what I needed clearning I asked him: "Do you have business insurance." He replied, "Yes."I also asked him:" If the is damaged or buckles by your cleaning will you repair it?" He replied, "Definitely."I hired him for the fee of $150 (later paid $170) and made an appointment to have the following carpets cleaned on Thursday, Oct 26, without moving the furniture: living room, dining room, throw rug, small peripheral area of a room leading outside, a downstairs bedroom, edge of the hallway, and my study-office.*** and his brother, *** showed up on time. Unfortunately, within about half an hour of starting to work, their machine broke. Also, unfortunately, by the time this happened my bedroom rug was soaked and I, with a bad back, could not sleep in my bedroom.Although *** initially promised to get the problem fixed and return the next day-Friday 10/27, the fix did not happen until Saturday Oct 28. This meant I spent two nights sleeping on a very uncomfortable couch and my back started hurting. I have an appointment this Friday 11/17 @ 7:45 am at **** with my PA, *************************************** to start treatment, which I am praying works as I am going to see my grandchildren in ***** in two weeks. It took nearly 2 days for the carpets to dry. By the time it did, I could see buckling in the living room and downstairs hall, also two stains-one of which I don&#**;t think was present before he cleaned.I called Vic. He did not call me back. I waited a day and called again and left a message. I also texted him about the situation. When I finally reached him he was installing a floor and said he&#**;d get back to me, which he never did. When we finally spoke I reminded him that when I asked him BEFORE being hired: "If the carpet buckles or is damaged by the cleaning will you repair it to which he answered, "Definitely."*** responded by lying, "I only repair carpets that I install." I repeated what he initially told me. *** did not answer.I next asked him to keep his business agreement with me and fix the damage. He repeated his lie, "I only repair carpets that I install." I kept calling and asking for his help by keeping our agreement. He finally called back and offered me a refund-but not to fix the damage. After a day or so, I decided to take the refund, get the damage repaired and present him with the bill for reimbursement. At first, he wanted to drop cash in my mailbox nixed the idea, and asked for a check to be dropped off, which he quickly deposited in my mailbox. I cashed the check-so far it has not bounced.I have a carpet expert a H323531353131**35**32Hologist named **** ************ coming by on Wed. Nov 22 @ 10 am to fix the damage-estimated at $450, without a guarantee of the stains coming out.Kindly let me know that you have received this post. I can supply pictures-by text only. With Appreciation,******************
