I had an original balance a bit over $3000. I started payments of $50 per month in 11/2020. I called today to get my remaining balance and its OVER the amount of what I originally owed. Payments have been automatically coming directly out of my account for this long and my original balance is higher? What kind of interest is this? Over $1200 paid forward my **** and not a single ***** lowered?! Not one time did the person I made the agreement with hey, your balance wont go down, ever! I cancelled my automatic withdrawal as of today. I will file bankruptcy.Business response

I am rejecting this response because: When I called to get an update on my balance, none of the money was applied to the principal balance. I will attempt to call again and get this taken care of but the person I spoke with on the phone denied any money was applied to balance.Business response

Statewide Collection completely rejects Balfour's rejected response. First, no employee informed Balfour her payments were applied to the interest. Second, it is the business practice to apply payments to the principal first and interest last.Customer response

I am rejecting this response because: What the employee said was, "Your balance has NOT gone down at all. Your payments didn't cover the interest and the balance is higher than the original debt." I have paid $50 since November 2020, which is over $1200. Not one ***** was applied to the balance. I can not pay more and the debt will never get paid if this is the case. I can settle or be forced to file for bankruptcy due to the amount of bills. I have tried take care of this, was nothing but pleasant the few times I spoke with them. I am out of options and do not know what to do. I do not understand how one can pay over $1200 and have a higher balance than the original debt. Not one time did anybody every contact me and say "your balance is the same/higher."

I am rejecting this response because: Again, I have made payments for over 2 years. Original balance was $ ****. today's balance is $3544.10. Payments made biweekly for TWO YEARS. I have called to settle and spoke with ******** she stated she would call back which she hasn't. The only other option is bankruptcy....but this is illegal. 10% interest- the numbers do not add up.
