Mesa Water is in my opinion borderline criminal. If you add a room addition they will make you replace your water meter which does absolutely nothing for you. It's s a way to extort money from the homeowner, and are being reported to *******************, the ************ of Supervisors - County Attorney, and city council. The water Meter when it was all said and done cost $8,000 - I fully do my research and I found the manufacturer of the unit and the Exact water meter is $232.16. The Manufacturer said there is NO Difference between the water Meter that I could purchase directly from them, and the water meter that gets installed. Mesa Water required Engineered Plans which cost me $800 in addition, $600 for a licensed plumber to install, and the remaining $6,800 was earned income to Mesa Water. The unit took literally 20 minutes to install which was a complete joke! I talked with several licensed plumbers, including the commissioner who is a watchdog of ****** utilities and advised this is basically a way for utilities to make earned revenue, NOT to mention the actual installer of Mesa Water tech who installed the unit couldn't explain what the purpose was for the upgrade. He advised me though, it shouldn't take more then 20 minutes to install! As a side note, before the remodel my PSI was 73, and average in my ********** area was between 55 to 65. After the remodel, my PSI was Exactly the same and this was after the upgrade. If you are being advised by Mesa Water to upgrade your meter, Please send an email to ******************** as I am collecting individuals who were coerced into upgrading. So far we have 2 individuals and would like to collect names of others to forward on so we can see what options we have. I have many threatening emails from Mesa Water about shutting water off if I did not do what was required. They also have an email they forgot I was CC'd on that said, "looks like he's playing games" - the individual(s) I worked with are ruthless and I will not be taking advantage of, and you shouldn't either. Once I collect enough people together we will pursue what we need to. Although written in Mesa Water's ordinances, they could be in violation of Penal Code Section 396.

Mesa Water has a monopoly and they are involved in price fixing to reach their revenue targets. Mesa Water charges clients $70-$80 per billing period simply to provide the address with water. In most cases, this charge is 4-7 times the cost of water! As a specific example, my **** this month for the cost of water is $18.88. The cost to provide me water was $75.37, which is 4x the cost of the water!! They do not provide any sort of credit or help for those with low income. They do not offer any support via email - they force you to call and then they can bully you into a payment plan for the ludicrous charges they assess. My current ****, because I refuse to pay their excessive and predatory charges is $566.47. As stated above they refuse to work with me, they do not offer any sort of resolution or the ability to escalate the issue. The lone customer service rep that works there simply dismisses the concern and moves on to their next email. I'd like the excessive charges reduced to a reasonable charge for bi-monthly service. Alternately, I will settle this issue for $100 USD.
