Contractor was called out on Feb 13th to replace 2 bathroom fans and was asked to install a electrical outlet in garage as a side job. After the job was completed, contractor **** was paid in cash for trade call fee of $75, plus the side job of $150 so total of $225. Customer was not given receipt for any items paid for in cash. I was given a receipt that was to be paid by the home warranty plan Old Republic for the work completed in the amount of $499. There was no mention of any trade call fees noted in the Old republic receipt that I was given. Old republic contacted me a month later saying the trade call was not paid. I was originally told the trade fees were needed to be paid upon dispatch of contractor so I did not think I needed a separate receipt for the trade call. I contacted **** after hearing of this and he gave me the run around for a month telling me to go back and forth with his front office to have them send a receipt but there was no record of payment documented because he pocketed my cash and left without providing me proof of payment. So 2 months later I have been trying to get this resolved with no luck because he took the cash and left knowing that a month later I would be stuck without a receipt to prove I had paid anything for a trade call fee even though he had cash in hand already. He said he always gives proof of payment but admitted to the home warranty agent and myself that he remembers me paying cash for the side job even though he did not provide proof of payment for that job. How could he specifically remember me paying for the side job and not the trade call fee if there was no receipt given for either? The last time I spoke with him he said he would reimburse me the money through zelle but failed to do so just to further postpone any actual resolution because he did not follow through with his offer. I want him to reimburse me the $75 he pocketed so I can give that money directly to the home warranty company. An apology is also requested for him wating my time with lies and deceit.
