On Tuesday 6/18/2024 @ approximately 12:35 p.m. my wife found an employee of Huntington Pools trespassing in my backyard. We are not customers (and never have been) of ********************** Pools. When my wife found the employee in our backyard, the employee was surprised when she told him we don't have a pool service with Huntington pools. He quickly left.My wife saw that the employee was carrying pool chemicals (appeared to be chlorine). However, he never told my wife what chemicals he put in my pool. I had my wife run the pool pump and get the water retested at ******** Pools the same day. The pool chemistry was all messed up. The chlorine was now 11 parts per million and the ** was 8. The chlorine level is higher than it's ever been tested in my pool in 10 years. Our prior test at ******** was nowhere near that Chlorine level. Chlorine levels above 5 parts per million are unsafe and can cause eye and skin irritation, among other problems. As a result, my family (including a 4 year old and 7 year old) lost access to my pool for nearly 2.5 days as I put chemicals in to fix the ** and as I waited for the sun to naturally bring down the chlorine. The other option was to buy chemicals to reduce the Chlorine, but I have never used those chemicals before (never had to because my chlorine has never been that high). That, and despite calling the business twice to ask for compensation for chemical cost to fix the chlorine, they never called me back. As result of not having the pool available (because Huntington put chemicals in my pool) I had to cancel swim lessons for my kids (which occur in our pool), lost access to swimming and had to pay for swimming at the local aquatic center, and had to use my own muriatic acid to reduce the **.Totally unacceptable that they messed up my pool chemistry. And even more unacceptable that they won't return either of my 2 calls to the company (1 voicemail, the other I talked to the receptionist).Business response

It was an unfortunate mistake. We have three customers in that culdesac. There was a misunderstanding and one of the two technicians entered the wrong backyard which happened to have a pool. He tested the water added a gallon of chlorine. We were in the middle of a heatwave (100+ degrees) which creates higher chlorine demand. The pool owner states that they took a water sample to a retail store and had the water tested. The test result was very high chlorine level. I am assuming that the sample was taken shortly after our visit. Its very unlikely that the test was accurate as you need about 24 hours to get an accurate test. The pool owner states that they had to cancel a swim ******* I dont blame the pool owner for cancelling the ****** because of their concerns, but I am very confident that it was unnecessary. 1) The chlorine level stated by the retail store was undoubtedly was inaccurate and overstated. 2) Very few people are that sensitive to chlorine levels but more sensitive to pH levels. The bottom line is that it was a mistake. No harm done. Nothing to fix.
