Im writing to file a complaint regarding a misleading ad from Insure.com that I came across on social media. The ad claims that insurance agents are "legally robbing" people when they pay for car insurance, which is simply false and damaging. The reality is that insurance agents only receive a small commission from the policy premium, and they are certainly not "robbing" anyone. The suggestion that agents are somehow pocketing a significant portion of what customers pay for insurance is misleading and paints an unfair picture of how the industry works. This kind of false advertising is not only dishonest but could easily mislead consumers into making bad financial decisions.I believe this ad crosses the line and should be addressed. I would appreciate it if the Better Business Bureau could look into this matter and take action to ensure that Insure.com corrects this false information.Thank you for your time and attention to this issue.Business response

I am writing to formally lodge a complaint regarding the services provided by Modernize under QuinStreet. We entered into a three-month contract based on the promise of receiving valid leads. Unfortunately, our experience has been nothing short of disappointing and unprofessional. We agreed to pay $200 per lead, under the assumption that these leads would be legitimate and actionable. However, the leads we have received have consistently been fake. After transferring calls to us, we have noticed that customers frequently disconnect, and our attempts to call them back have been unsuccessful. This pattern has led to a complete lack of bookings, despite our financial investment.Additionally, we have accounts for both our ****** and ****** locations, and we are being charged for services that are not yielding any results. The lack of transparency and accountability from Modernize is troubling, and we feel that we have been misled. Moreover, we were not informed that calls would be transferred to us on weekends and after office hours. To add to our concerns, we have recently been informed that our account may be sent to collections. This is unacceptable, given that we have not received any legitimate leads or bookings from your service. We request immediate resolution of this issue and a review of our account status. If this matter is not addressed satisfactorily, we will consider escalating our complaint. They are exploiting the situation, and we should not be charged on our accounts.Business response

As a victim of identity theft I am trying to get ahold of someone at QUINSTREET I received an alert on 9-15-24 and checking my credit report QUINSTREET popped up as one of the places the thief applied to for a loan using my name and information I have since filed a police report and have done everything possible that one can do to protect myself from farther harm. I am simply trying to get this fraud situation handled and removed from my credit report but no one seems available to take my calls at QuinstreetBusiness response

*****, we apologize that you were unable to reach us. Per our conversation on 9/23, the vertical within Quinstreet that handles personal loan applications is called *****. Therefore, any email or other communication you would have received from ***** would be related to Quinstreet on your credit report. ***** only performs a soft credit pull when an application is submitted. We have unsubscribed your file from our system so no further action will be taken on it. I provided you my contact information, so please dont hesitate to reach out if there is anything else I can do.Customer response

All of them say it was done by QuinStreet. Ive NEVER applied for a loan through this company. I wouldnt be up at 1:44 in the morning doing so anyway. My phone would not stop pinging. Highly upset that my information has been sold somewhere and loans are being applied for. Ive never heard of these companies either. Piece of trash company selling information.Business response

Hi,I have tried to put myself on the DO NOT CONTACT list with Quinstreet but i'm still receiving calls on an hourly basis, despite the numerous attempts to contact and process the request. Furthermore, the link for "Request to Delete" does not even pull up the correct form on hvacpros.org - it takes you to "Request to Know". Please remove my contact info immediately from the list, as I have tried to contact the company multiple times at this point.Business response

I am rejecting this response because:I have no idea which businesses received my contact info that you shared without my consent - it seems like my information was shared beyond just for HVAC repairs, as I'm now getting calls daily for other non-related home improvement related projects. You should have a list of all the businesses that my contact info was shared with, so please follow up with them as I have no idea where I would even start.
Sincerely,

I received an email stating that I applied for a loan with NetCredit, they have an account number for me as well and I have never created an account or ever contacted this company. The application was submitted through ***********. I have never applied for a loan through this company so I don't know how they have gotten my information, the representative that I spoke with at NetCredit stated that there is a different email address attached to the account number that was in the email I received. My name and address as well as my email all match in the email I have received though. I would like all any information that this company has regarding me deleted out of their system and any credit information corrected, meaning any inquiries etc and i want my social security number blocked from ever being used.Business response

There have been multiple times where I have been harassed by companies calling and texting me non stop about inquiries that have fraudulently been put in for bathroom remodels and roof replacements. They all tell me their leads come from Quinstreet. The information is all the same, my name is slightly misspelled, email address is wrong but address and phone number are correct. Why is Quinstreet fraudulently selling my personal information so I can be harassed?Business response

These jerks called me over and over again after I told them to stop. I am on the do not call list, and I have already informed the DO NOT CALL service of their transgressions. I have also found out that it is 500 dollars a pop to keep calling someone who tells a business to stop.Business response

We are sorry this consumer has received unwanted calls and will be happy to add them to our Do Not Call list. QuinStreet businesses contact consumers when they or their agents complete online forms asking to match with various service providers. We match individuals with insurers, credit card companies, home service providers, personal loan providers and more. Our TCPA compliant language informs consumers that by submitting their request, they may receive calls, emails or texts. Because the form submission is a direct request for contact, it supersedes any registration on a national Do Not Call list. But, we are always happy to accommodate those who prefer not to receive our calls. Please contact QuinStreet directly to let us know which phone number should be added to our list.Initial Complaint

It has recently come to my attention that Quinstreet some how obtained my personal information to fraudulently apply for a personal loan with ****************** They have since then sold this information which has been used to fraudulently open multiple accounts with a multitude of credit card and personal loan companies. I have filed a police report and reported this information to the credit bureaus as well as the social security administration.Business response

We are unable to find a consumer who matches the email or phone number in this complaint. We located one instance in 2021 where someone with the same name matched with a loan provider, but we did not contact that consumer.
QuinStreet does not complete loan or credit card applications for consumers; the companys subsidiary, AmONE, does connect people seeking loans with loan providers, when requested. Its possible that this consumer or her agent may have submitted a request to match with a personal loan provider using different contact information than what is listed here.

Complaint: 21562838
I am rejecting this response because:
I did not apply for any line of credit with any institution. After contacting several different institutions regarding several hard inquiries that had been made on my credit report and tracing those inquiries back to when my personal information had first been shared without my knowledge, I was told by the first of those institutions that they had received my information directly from this company. Therefore, I am compelled to believe that this company is the primary source that lead to the theft of my identity.
Sincerely,
