  March, 2024 I asked *****, the owner of the store, to see how much she would give me for old books left to me by my dad. She handed me $20.00 for 10 books and put them behind her counter. I was in shock. Later I realized and wrote her. She said she looked through the books she had left of the ones she took and sent me a text of books that were not mine and five that were, but not any of the valuable old 1800's were included. The oldest rare books were not included in the list and she claimed that only the five she texted me were what she had. She knew they were rare and I feel she cheated me knowing that and saddened by her unscrupulous actions. She owes me money for the rare books.

  Here's what happened

  *************** came into my shop with old books she was looking to sell.  I explained that I bought old books at estate sales and didn't pay more than $2.00 each.  I did not look at the titles, or dates in books.  I asked her if $2.00 each was ok and she said fine.  At that time she could have said no thanks and refused my offer, but she didn't and I gave her $20.00 and she left store.  I had no idea she was not pleased with the transaction. After she contacted me weeks later through my store ******** page, I gave her my personal cell number and asked her to call me.  I told her she could come to store and get any books she felt were hers, she did not.  Once again she contacted me and said she wanted her books back, again I told her to come  to the store and see if she could recognize any of the books , and I even sent her a picture of books in the store, again she didn't come to retrieve any books she thought were the ones in question.   If she would have supplied me with the titles right away and told me she had sellers remorse this whole thing could have been solved.  

  I have been in business 42 years in the same location and never had been accused of being cheater or unscrupulous  I tried to solve this issue with her to no avail, so as far as I'm concerned the matter is closed..

  I am rejecting this response because: The books she showed me in the attached file that I sent 'happened' to be the books that were not the value I am seeking.

  I have gone through 2 surgeries in the past couple of months and could not get there to look in her store for those she conveniently didn't show in the text she wrote to me.

  I want $125.00 for the books she took from me and knew they were valuable 1800's and conveniently did not include them in her text.
