On 5/17/2023 I took My boat to boat md to have it serviced to be ready for the summer. When I made the appt he told me it would cost around $150.00 to service my boat. When I went to pick my boat up it cost $966.34 to *********** back. He never called me to approve the cost or nothing. He took advantage of me being naive and a girl.Business response

**** took the appointment from her daughter a month before the date of May 17th. During this
conversation daughter gave a list of items she would like to have addressed on the boat and was advised
that a 100 hour service included everything she was asking for at less of a cost. She was informed that it
would take 4 to 4 hours plus cost of parts. We charge $140 an hour and parts for different boats vary
in cost.
**** dropped of the boat on the morning of May 17th 2023. **** checked with her at drop off making
sure she was there for the 100 hour service and provided her with a written work order that she signed to
approve the 100 hour service. She also stated her battery was dead and to address bildge blower vent
hose replacement.
After the work was completed during pickup she asked if it was possible to get a tower installed. I told
her we where scheduling into the third week in July and put her on the schedule for the 20th of July. We
went inside so she could pay her bill and she was completely shocked at the cost of the 100 hour service
and stated she thought she was getting a 100 dollar service. She was crying because she said she could
not pay the bill and asked if I could remove the parts from the boat. I told her that I could not, it would
be more work for me and I would end up doing the job all over again. She then asked if she could get a
discount of $200 and I told her no, I did the work and should get paid for the job.
She called her daughter to come down to the shop to discuss the bill. We never spoke to her so Im not
sure what they talked about. **** came back in and offered to pay $760. I agreed to release the boat
without full payment with the trust that she would come back when she could and pay the remainder of
the bill. She signed the Customer Clear Receipt and went on her way.
On May 20th Boat Md received a threatening email message (see attached)
There was also posts on ******** (see attached)
**** did not pay the full amount of her work order. The total was $966.34 and clearly has no intention of
paying the remainder of the bill. She ended up shorting us $206.34.
I think the breakdown in communication was between her and her daughter. She did not make the appointment therefore missing the details of the service requested.
