      01/24/2022 I took a **** ***** work truck to the mechanic to fix initial he already was supposed to fix and I have paid for it. I had a **** wiring harness installed with dash gauges. And they stopped working a month after he installed. He had just finished working on the 2013 Prius that I also have. That was supposed to get a leak issue so he replaced the engine and after he replaced the engine it still had the same leak issue he then realized it was a water pump. Prior to that he had also said it was the batteries problem so I had to pay $500 out of my own pockets to have the battery people come out and tell me that it was not. But besides that back to the truck after he fixed the Prius I took in the truck so he can refix it. He parked it outside and on the 29th I got home and went through the mail and found a police order from Richmond saying my car was impounded I called him and told him that the car was impounded he told me he didn't know about that I asked him where is my truck then he stated while I thought you took it I told him how can I take it if you have the key. also I left it with you to fix why wouldn't you call me if you noticed the truck was missing now it's been over 5 days they're charging me every day. I told him he was going to have to pay for it he said no he wasn't because he didn't even give me a receipt for the work that was being done to the truck he didn't hang up on me. I call him back and told him he knew the truck was there he had the key for my truck and that was proof. He also has cameras so I couldn't understand why you would try to lie about this. Still currently has my truck key which is the only key I have for the ************ am stuck with the **** that makes it two extra bills that I didn't have to you pay but I now do because of his negligence. I feel like he should have taken care of my truck since I had given him the keys and he was taking responsibility for it. He won't take any of my calls and still has my truck key.

      I now have found out that the car was stolen from in front of their shop. Through the police report. So now I would like to add this to my complaint

      I also wanted to add that I wanted to change my form from him to finish the job for him to now just refund since he never fixed the truck and after all this I don't want him to do any more work on the truck . Because when he fixed the Prius he said it was the batteries people's fault they sent me an invoice saying I had to pay because the code that I read showed that it was the engine not the battery I told that to the mechanic he assured me it was not the engine it was the battery so the battery people went out and it was the engine not the battery so they did charge me so I would like him to pay for that since he said it was the batteries fault but it was really the engine. So he had to fix the water pump after all. And then the car worked after an engine swap it was still showing the same problem and he figured out this whole time it was the water pump so I had to buy a new engine for no reason from him. It's just another headache that I wanted to explain to you guys about everything that he did for me he screwed up. That cost $407 so I would like him to pay for that since he stated that it wasn't the the engine that wasn't a problem it was the battery but it really was the engine not the battery. I know this is a big headache but this is what happened to me

      We towed this customers vehicle to the shop from Yerba Buena a year ago. The customer said he 

      currently didnt have the money to repair the vehicle.   We diagnose the vehicle and told him  that the problem 
      was the wire and fuel box that was burnt.  we stored the vehicle for the customer for one month without any payment from the customer. We also informed the customer that the work that needed to be done would cost $1,960 and the customer agreed to do the *********************** on the vehicle,  We repaired the vehicle everything was fine and the customer paid.
      After the customer picked up the vehicle we didnt hear from him for about ten months. The customer called around early November 2021 that he had another vehicle a 2013 ****** Prius he brought the car into the shop, we dignose 
      it and it needed a motor.  Customer said again he didnt have the money for repairs, the customer only left $200 deposit towards the repairs but he took the vehicle with him and drove the car home saying he needed it for work.
      Two months later the customer called saying that the vehicle wasnt running no more and he was gonna send the car with a tow truck.  We checked the vehicle and it wouldnt start.

       

      We installed a used motor for the agreed amount of $2,200 parts and labor.  We installed the motor but still the car wouldnt start.  We called the customer and he stated that he installed a hybrid battery into this vehicle.  He called the company that installed the battery and they came to the shop and injected power to the vehicle and it started.  Afterwards that the vehicle was on everything was fine.  Customer picked up the vehicle, later that day the customer called that the car was overheating.  I told him to bring the vehicle back, we checked the vehicle and the electric water pump was messed up.  This part has nothing to do with the motor.  We informed the customer about the problem and he agreed to do the repairs.  During repairs were being done I  loaned the customer my own vehicle without charge.  We did the repairs and let the customer know to pick up the vehicle,  When the customer picked up the prius he brought his truck with him and parked the vehicle himself across the street from the shop.  He told me that the truck needed work, but I told him I cant right now because there were to many vehicle on the lot.  The customer did not fill out a work order or  give the keys to any employees .  We belive that the customer hung up the keys himself in the work area.  Days later he called me that the truck was in a inpound.  We thought that he had taken the truck with him.  I found out that the customer had an expired vehicle for 2-3 years.  He also stated that the truck was making a noise because someone stole his catalytic converter in ************* .  When he wanted to leave the truck he said it needed the Instrument Cluster because it wasnt working right.  We had already changed that part in the vehicle a year ago and it had no more warranty.  I told him to bring the vehicle a week later when we would be able to repair it.

      But that is not what happened I wanted to put my side of the story I left my truck there for them to fix and then it got stolen and they don't want to pay for any of the damages or the fees to get it out of it so that's what I was trying to put as my response

      My name is ***** and I work at C and D Auto repair. We just received a letter in regards to ******************* complain and were unclear of what he wants us to do at this time. We were under the impression that this had beeb resolved. Yes, we worked on his Prius and completed that job. Yes, he brought his truck in and we told him we did not have time to work on his vehicle and that he would need to come and pick it up as this is not the best of areas to leave your vehicle behind especially because of street cleaning. He was informed of this and chose to leave his vehicle unattended. ******************* himself parked his truck out on the street and hung his key up on our key board without letting us know. Vehicles that we service and take in we input in our system and have our clients sign off authorizing us to work on them. We do not assume responsibility for vehicles left behind without our consent and are extremely sorry ******************* is experiencing this however we were very clear with him he should not leave his vehicle behind as we did not have time to tend to it.

      Please advise as to what else we can do to help this situation. Thank you for your time and promptness to this matter.

I did take my Prius and after about 3 weeks of them working on fixing the water pump I was told I needed a new engine and I was also told I was buying a new engine once I seen I had bought a used engine I tried driving off I got two blocks away the check light engine still went back on the same problem occurred after buying a new used engine even though I thought it was new but it was really used I had to take it back so they could still work on the water pump. After they finish that job I took my truck they told me that they would work on it I had it parked on the inside the owner asked me to put it in the front because he needed space to move cars around and he would bring it in I had it inside there compound I took it outside cuz that was asked to take it outside because there was no space in there and they would put it back in I took it outside walked back in gave them back the keys they totally knew that they told me to leave it outside once the truck was stolen I thought it was towed but it wasn't it was actually stolen that's when they started backtracking trying to say they never knew that my truck was there even though they did they just knew they were going to have to pay for the damages that's why they're trying to get out of it. But lucky for me I recorded all this and I was able to save the recordings now I'm taking them to court. This place mainly swindles people they try to get away with everything they can they give fake diagnosis and don't know how to really work on the car I left the car there for weeks I looked up online how long it takes you to change a water pump and it took the website 3 hours I don't know why it would take them 3 weeks. Everything that they did I have problems with the only reason I went back was because the truck was still under warranty for having the wiring harness and dash gauges replaced they broke right after so that's the reason why the truck was back at the mechanic so they could also refix what they already had fixed. At the end they never fix what I paid for the car got stolen I had to pay for the impound and everything that was in the truck was broken or stolen it was a work truck they broke all the locks on it to get into the boxes. They crashed the front side of the truck as well and the ignition is totally dismantled. When I confronted the owner he threatened me and then stop answering my phone calls he also didn't want to give me a receipt thank God for my credit card statements which is what I'm going to show the courts. Because I did ask for the receipt and the owner refused. On top of that he told me over the phone which I recorded I never gave you a receipt so good luck taking me to court cuz no one can say that you actually left the truck here. But thank God I recorded all this. This place is garbage and should not be allowed to service the community.*****************************

      In response to ******************* recent response we still don't understand what he wants. Yes, we worked on his Hybrid Prius (used engine find enclosed signed estimates and credit card receipts). Yes, he came back for his water pump as new finding after he left and came back with a different issue (also please find attached). He was offered receipts for services and refused them. We practice as honest of a business as we can and maintain records of all vehicles serviced as best we can. Luckily we have his paperwork on file please see attachments. When he brought his truck in had we accepted the work we would have printed an estimate with customer information and complaint just to authorize us to even look at his vehicle and assume responsibility of said vehicle especially if it was left in our care AND HAD HIM SIGN IT AS AUTHORIZATION. With that being said we do not have his truck information in our system therefore we did not assume responsibility for said vehicle or to work on it.  In fact he was told not to leave vehicle here and he himself parked it out on the street against my recommendation to not leave it here. We also have video footage of where he himself placed the key on our key board when he left his vehicle here and when he came to recover his key and knew exactly where he left it as he pointed it out to our mechanic as he also was unaware of where his key was. We are extremely sorry he has experienced this hardship however this was beyond our control.
