Signed a contract with Precision Awnings Bros on 4/26/24 to install extended patio cover. We had to pay them a deposit of 10% of total bid ($5,800). We paid them with a check for $600 even though they asked for $580. (The following was communicated via text which I have screenshots of ) Our house was being painted so I advised them when it was ready. We then spent weeks trying to get an install date. ***** ******** advised they were too busy now, so we asked for a refund of our deposit. ***** said "I will send this (refund) back to you" on 7/7/24. ** 7/30/24, I asked when I could expect the refund. He asked if I had *****, I said no, but I did have Venmo. ***** said, "I can Venmo." I gave him my Venmo info. ** 8/12/24 and 8/14/24 I asked when he was going to send the Venmo. ** 8/15/24, he said "I will get to to you sir." ** 8/16/24, 8/21/24, 8/23/24, and 8/26/24, I repeatedly texted him to ask when he was sending the Venmo for the $600 refund. ** 8/26/24 ***** finally texted and sent a screen shot of a person named "****** *******". I replied "No" and again, I sent my venmo info. He then replied, "Send the code". I sent him a link to my Venmo and a screenshot of my QR code. ***** still did not send the refund. I then sent a screnshot of a Venmo account for ***** ******** which showed multiple transactions labled "patio" from people, so I sent a pay request to the account. I then sent texts on 8/27/24 and 8/28/24 telling him I sent him a pay request and asked why he was not paying it. I then advised that if he didn't pay us the refund, he would force me to file a petition in small claims court. ***** has no replied at all.

We did return the deposit to ****** ******* on 9/3/24.

also ***** is correct we did have a day set but as you can see this was after he had to cancel due too house having too be painted and approved by the ****  This really hurt us because as we informed all our customers the installation will take anywhere between 4 to 6 weeks for install.

But my real concern is that he said he never received the deposit back as you can see. I did send that back.

      Customer response

      10/02/2024

I am rejecting this response because:

Mr. ******** FINALLY refunded the depost after two months of countless efforts of trying to get him to do what was right. I firmly believe he had no intention on refunding the money hoping I would just let it go. Mr. ********** response was this was "not that serious for only $600" as if $600 was some minute amount of money I'd be losing. That's really the most concerning issue. Unfortunately it took a BBB complaint to get him to do the right thing, even though he had a bunch of excuses why he was delayed. Bottom line is he was trying to keep the money by not responding and claiming he tried to send the money. He had ample opportunities and could've communicated to me via another phone if his had an issue.

I got my money back. I feel this complaint should stay in public view, if possible, so others can be advised. I have nothing further to add to this.
