In response to the complaint filed by the customer on 4/17/2024, our findings show that on 12/21/2023, the customer enrolled successfully in a trial membership for Rent2owninc.com. The same day, the customer contacted our customer service center to cancel the trial. Our agent explained the service's benefits and offered the customer an 80% discount on the subscription fee. The customer agreed to keep the standard service membership. Upon completion of the trial, the discounted subscription fee commenced billing.

We have canceled the customers subscription and removed him from our marketing campaigns.

      Dear BBB,

Our research indicates, the customer visited our website and registered for a 7-day $1.00 trial membership on December 22, 2022. The customer authorized the $49.60 monthly recurring charge by successfully completing all the necessary steps to complete the membership account registration.  Our pricing information is clearly displayed on our registration page, and we require each member to click to accept that he/she agrees to the membership terms and conditions, prior to creating the account. The terms and conditions also informed the member to cancel before the trial completes in order to avoid the monthly membership fee.   Immediately following registration, the customer was sent a detailed welcome email that reiterated all important terms of membership, including how to cancel.

The customer never contacted us to cancel the subscription and, as a result, was billed according to the terms that were agreed to during registration. Although the charges were valid, we refunded the most recent membership fee on 4/21/2023.

Please let us know if you have any additional information.

      Dear BBB,

Our research indicates the customer visited our website and registered for a 7-day $1.00 trial membership on December 12, 2022. The customer authorized the $49.60 monthly recurring charge by successfully completing all the necessary steps to complete the membership account registration. Our pricing information is clearly displayed on our registration page, and we require each member to click to accept that he/she agrees to the membership terms and conditions prior to creating the account. The terms and conditions also informed the member to cancel before the trial completes to avoid the monthly membership fee.   Immediately following registration, the customer was sent a detailed welcome email reiterating important membership terms, including how to cancel.

The customer information submitted to our website during the registration process (address, phone number, and first and last name) matches the information provided in the BBB complaint. We would have no way of knowing a customers personal information without the customer entering this information during the account creation process. Further, the *** code on the back of the customers credit card was a match, which indicates the customer had the credit card in hand while registering. Lastly, the customers billing address matched what was on file with the customers issuing bank.
The customer never contacted us to cancel the subscription and, as a result, was billed according to the terms agreed to during registration. On January 24, 2022, the customer contacted us to cancel the account. The account was canceled as per his request. There was no mention of a refund.

We received the BBB complaint later the same day. Although it is evident the customer knowingly created the account and agreed to the membership terms, our representative refunded the customer for one month of service.  If you require additional information, please contact us.

      Dear BBB,

The complaint acknowledges that the customer enrolled in a trial but was unaware of the monthly subscription fee.

Our research indicates that the customer visited our website and registered for a 7-day $1.00 trial membership on May 13, 2022. The customer authorized the $49.60 monthly recurring charge by successfully completing all the necessary steps to complete the membership account registration.  Our pricing information is clearly displayed on our registration page, and we require each member to click to accept that he/she agrees to the membership terms and conditions prior to creating the account. The terms and conditions also informed the member to cancel before the trial completes in order to avoid the monthly membership fee.   Immediately following registration, the customer was sent a detailed welcome email that reiterated all important terms of membership, including how to cancel.

The customer never contacted us to cancel the subscription during the trial and, as a result, was billed according to the terms that were agreed to during registration. On July 9, 2022, the customer contacted us to cancel the account and request a refund. Although it is evident the customer knowingly created the account and agreed to the membership terms, our representative refunded the customer for one month of service - $49.60.

Since we have already provided the customer with a one-time courtesy credit prior to the complaint, we believe that we have satisfied the complaint. If you require additional information, please contact us.
