******************************* of Mezz Construction, ***** CA Contractors Lic ******, constructed a new garage for me in 2018. I have been living in the garage as my residence (accessory dwelling unit). In 2021, I discovered that the concrete slab was not constructed in accordance with building plans. It should have been 4" thick but was not and barely covered the rebar in some areas. I contacted ***** on 6/2/21 and ***** looked at the slab on 6/19/21. Two months later, he was still unwilling to commit to a specific date and method of completing the repairs. I had to contact ***** multiple times before he would respond. To complete the repairs, everything had to be moved out (kitchen cabinetry, sink, appliances, wardrobe units for clothing, bed, furniture, etc.). I had to rent a storage pod and live elsewhere while he completed his work. On 10/27/21, with no discussion of how the repair would be completed, ***** cut out a large portion of the slab and left a portion of the perimeter slab in place. On 11/24/21, he poured new concrete. On 12/5, I was told by his subcontractor that an epoxy coating a little thicker than paint would be applied over the concrete slab to hide the botched work. He did not know the name of the product. It wasnt until late January that I was provided the name of the epoxy product. After I understood that painting the slab was not a permanent solution, I advised ***** that paint would require repainting every few years and was unacceptable and I needed a long lasting flooring product. In February and March 2022, ***** dodged my calls and there were multiple miscommunications. On March 24, 2022, I couldnt wait any longer & hired someone else to finish the job which involved concrete cutting (control joints) and professional epoxy flooring to cover the botched work. I also had to clean the walls, repaint and reinstall cabinetry, etc. ***** promised to reimburse me for my costs but has not responded to my requests for reimbursement.
