On December 30, 2022 I purchased ******** Wool Sweater in jadeite (a blue-green) from AmourVert, order #********* for $75. It was was part of their pre-owned program--an AmourVert brand sweater that was already owned by a customer and that customer was re-selling it through **********************. The item was advertised as being in "like new" condition. I already owned the EXACT same style of sweater in another color (pink/lilac) one size up that I had purchased new (not pre-owned) several months prior from AV. Since I already own a different color, I know how the sweater is supposed to look, feel, and fit. Once I received the sweater, I noticed that it was NOT in "like new" condition as advertised. It is a 100% wool sweater whose tag clearly states DRY CLEAN ONLY. The sweater fabric was stiff and nappy and the sweater was shrunken. It had clearly been agitated, probably in a washing machine, at some point. When you agitate wool fibers, they become entwined and develop that dense, nappy feel and the whole garment will shrink up. It is called fulling. Again, I own this same sweater in a different color, so I know how it is intended to feel. AmourVert asked me to fill out an online form to state whether or not the sweater was in the condition advertised by the previous owner. I explained that it was NOT in like new condition as advertised and I sent pictures comparing my pink/lilac sweater with the pre-owned sweater. You can clearly tell from my pictures that the pre-owned sweater fabric was dense and the sweater grossly shrunken (it fits my 6-year-old fine!) They said once they processed my claim, I could send the item back and get a refund. However, they denied my claim, focusing only on the sweater's size. They said that the seller advertised the sweater as small fitting so I got what was expected (I already knew to expect a short style, but this was SHRUNKEN). Hello ********,
I filed a complaint against a business (AmourVert) on Friday, 1/13 (ID ********* and you sent me a message saying it had been forwarded to the company. I just wanted to let you know that I received an e-mail from the company this morning letting me know that they had initiated a refund for me.
They did not specifically mention the BBB complaint, so I wasn't sure if the customer service representative knew to let you know that it has been resolved.
Thank you very much for your involvement in this matter. It obviously helped us reach an amicable resolution!
