I signed up for a membership with Live Fit during the summer in 2021. I was told I would be charged a recurring monthly fee and also opted for a personal training package as well. In October, I noticed an extra charge and reached out to the business. I was told it is a yearly fee but I had never received a contract, a receipt, or any form of information or policy from the gym. At that time, they emailed me this information, but I had already been a member for 5 months. In November - December 2021, I noticed a steady decline in hygiene at the gym and inconsistent rules around covid, masks, and safety. In January 2022, I came to the gym on January 4th. I was informed that the bathrooms, all of the bathrooms, the dressing rooms and showers, were out of order. This not only posed an inconvenience for customers, I wondered if OSHA rules were being followed for employees having access to facilities as well. I returned on the 6th and the bathrooms were still out of order, plus there was construction dust and plastic lining the walls. It was completely unsafe to be in there working out and breathing in particle dust. I immediately went home and canceled my membership. I had only been charged on January 3rd for the monthly charge. I was told because I canceled a few days after the charge that I would not only be charged for February, but for March as well since upon signup they collect the last months' charge, though again I had never received this information and had to directly inquire upon signup about why I was charged for two months. This same gym location is now partially closed "due to water damage" but they are continuing to allow guests to come in and work out while construction takes place. The financial and safety practices of the gym are completely unsafe. I have tried to recoup my money by speaking directly with the gym about my concerns and have received no response. I have already filed a complaint with my credit card company to stop the charge.
