AAA has become a scam. They used to be good many, many years ago but now they are absolutely the worst company I have ever dealt with. Their customer service is the worst. We have been trying to set up a tow for 4 days and AAA has left us stranded.! They have used every excuse they could come up with to not do the tow including saying we have already used our tows, yet we haven't done a tow in 2 years. They tell us incorrect info every time we call and no one there knows anything. We have been AAA members for 20 years and now we are dumping them for good. Stay away from this company!Review from Joann G

AAA is useless. Been a paying member for 48 years and when I called today for a jump on a dead batter I was refused. Got the run around and discovered that suddenly my vehicle is not included for assistance. For 48 years, *** paid membership and now they tell me my vehicle is not covered because it has my LOGO on the door. Their ads for membership say it covers any vehicle even a rental or any other vehicle even if Im only a passenger. But suddenly vehicles with a logo on door is not covered. 48 years Ive had the Logo. 48 years they accepted my membership money. Beware the fine print. They find a way to exclude. ****.Review from Daryl F

AAA cancelled my condo policy days after issuing it. I paid up front for a years coverage and nearly a month later, there has been no refund on that cancelled policy. I asked if they would pay me interest on my money and the answer was a clear 'NO'. I will have to pay interest to the credit card company until I get reimbursed. This is totally unfair. ******. Being a AAA customer for 42 years means nothing!!!Review from Margaret M

AAA has outsourced their roadside assistance for at least the last 3 yrs. and "knows there are problems and are working on it." I was stuck for 3 1/2 hours in the dark in my vet's parking lot in an iffy part of town with my cat in her soft carrier. She'd been at the vet's all day, I couldn't let her out, and the poor thing finally peed in her carrier, which ruined it and leaked onto my car seat. The vet had forgotten some procedures so I had to wait + 45 mins. I listened to my car radio, not seeing that my headlights were on & drained the newish battery. I called AAA using the vet's landline phone since I'd forgotten cell. American towing called me back there, didn't want to come, "wasn't sure where [I] was" though clearly marked in red on ****** Maps as a *** community facility, said it could take him 1 1/2 hrs. to arrive. He never came or called. I was lucky the manager saw me as she was leaving and stayed with me for 2 more hrs. I was scared and had been waiting 1 1/2 hrs. already. She called AAA on HER cell and was connected to an agent in ******* though we were in **. ******* said the driver hadn't been able to find me and had tried to call, which was a LIE. ******* said she'd send another, should arrive in 1//2 an hr. ****. After ******************************************************** ******** who said she couldn't see us on her map ! We told her we were in danger in the dark and had waited for hours just for a battery jump. She apparently called someone in LA while we were on hold, then said someone would come in about 15 mins. 20 minutes later a driver came, jumped the car in 5 mins. and I was saved. SO MUCH FOR OUTSOURCING. 47 yrs. of membership, I don't trust AAA anymore and many similar complaints here confirm that. AAA will pay for car seat detailing but not for the ruined cat carrier. Hope I can use my car rental insurance. No compensation for my time or the hassle of getting the cat stink out, if possible. AAA + 3 policies, Report to **** of Ins.Review from Linda A

Worst service in the world. Don't perform and then try to blame the member. Had to wait for over 22 hours for a tow and was then berated when I got upset with them. They lied and gave wrong information over and over and wouldn't correct their mistakes. I've been a member for over 37 years and this behavior of theirs is now the rule rather than the exception! I now feel stupid for being a member of the auto club of southern california. I filed a complaint with them and they did absolutely nothing to correct their misbehavior. When the tow truck finally arrived, over 22 hours later, and only when I called a different tow truck company, the auto club texted me saying what a pleasure it was to offer me excellent service. I would give zero stars if I could. Worst service ever, my car was making a squeaking noise. I contacted AAA to have my car towed on a Friday during rush hour. Waited over an hour and when the tow truck driver from Wind and Sea came he went outside and diagnosed my car as needing an oil change and stormed off leaving me to drive to the closest oil change on the way to my home, even the check engine light came on in my car after he tested my car, still said I needed an oil change. Got my oil changed and the vavoline worker who changed my oil said that my check engine light was on as it was a transmission issue where my car should have been towed in the first place. The tow truck driver who visited me and diagnosed my car should lose his job!! You only have one job and that is to tow cars!! AAA has now lost 3 members, myself and my parents!!Review from Pam K

Do not buy a battery from the drivers. I made that mistake and the battery was under warranty and called to have them replace it and was told it was something else and to go to the dealer. $200+ later in diagnostics to be told it was the battery. Filed for a refund because the guy should have just replaced it and was DENIED! Car didnt have any other issues after battery was replaced.Review from Linda M

I had a AAA membership which was canceled without my consent by one of the employees. Since AAA employees work remotely, this complaint isnt re: this particular location, but AAA So. California as a whole. I received a bill from AAA So. California that was mailed to **, where I now reside. I paid the bill, only to receive a bill from AAA South saying that my membership pymt was due! I called the number on my card, was told that the payment that I sent was supposed to be sent to AAA South, since AAA So. *** obviously knew that I was no longer in So. Cal. To correct this, I have spoken to 11 people; I have asked to speak to a supervisor 3 times and have been put on hold waiting for a supervisor in excess of 30 minutes, at which point I hung up. This is a long story, but the bottom line is that AAA of So. Cal has totally dropped the ball. I have yet to receive a refund, which ** told should have happened since they didnt transfer my account, which was the proper procedure, my membership was cancelled w/o my being advised, and I havent been able to speak to a supervisor to fix this problem. I once had respect for AAA, I dont anymore.
