I Purchased a 2018 Honda ************ in October of 2022. A few months ago I noticed that second gear was pulling out when I was shifting. It quickly turned into slipping of all gears. The Honda dealership service department told me it would cost about $12,500.00 to get a new transmission. It was out of the train warranty in terms of the date but not in terms of miles. I did some research on social media and noticed that this is a fairly common problem with Type Rs. I also had been a loyal customer as I have purchased three other new Honda vehicles in the past. It is not a common repair to have with a six year old car which indicates that it is a flaw in the vehicle which would be the responsibility of the company to fix. With all of this in mind, I asked Honda if they could help in any way with this extremely expensive repair. They asked for some background which I spent many hours retrieving and putting together for them to review. Honda has refused us any assistance in this matter. A repair of this magnitude is an unreasonable expectation for a car that is manufactured with quality. I am not asking, nor have I ever asked, that they recoup all of the cost. I am looking to have the cost of the parts covered or at the very least, give me the parts at their cost, which is a fraction of what they will cost me. They out right refuse and are now not taking my phone calls.

On 8.24.19 I purchased a Honda Insight from Castle Honda of ************, **. I was offered a 1.9% interest rate and opted for a 5 year loan. The monthly payment was $340.58. The employee then scrolled through documents on-screen and quickly asked me to sign in various locations. I trusted our conversation and failed to scrutinize the on-screen document as well as the printed document. I set up an automated payment until this month, which should have been my final payment. Again, I failed to pay close attention until this month when I thought everything should be paid off and I was done. Instead, I discovered that there were 6 more months of payment on the loan. I pulled out my hard copy of the contract and discovered the loan rate had been set at 3.74% (not the 1.9% I had been promised) and the loan term had been set at 66 months (not the 60 months I had been promised.) I know now I should have carefully reviewed the documents 5 years ago and will likely be required to pay an additional $2043. I still want to file a formal complaint in case this is happening to others. It is a very deceptive way to do business and I hope the BBB can put a stop to it.

I am rejecting this response because:

I accept and appreciate the response from Honda Financial. There was no resolution to my core complaint regarding a fraudulent practice by castle honda of morton grove.  Castle Honda changed the interest rate and extended my payments six months beyond what was discussed and agreed to.  Even with the discount provided by Honda Financial  because i was willing to pay off the balance now, I paid an extra $1300 above what Castle Honda promised me. To fully resolve this complaint,  castle honda needs to refund me $1300.

      Sincerely,

      Eileen Figel

I just finalized a horrific divorce that even my lawyer said had never seen. My ex is a criminal- he has a felony. He had my truck repossess and fled state- now has a warrant out for his arrest. I moved away from him and cut my old phone line to escape him. Now, I was late paying my own car due to the divorce and now am able to pay- I called to make an arrangement with Honda only to be told it is ALREADY in repo status! I did not get any notice that my car would go to repossession- NONE. Because of my forwarding mail, it arrived too late. I never had someone try to find me or notify me, yet my new phone is all over the internet. I am now able to pay back the 3 months that were owed on the car (and when my ex did not pay my truck, that went into repossession after 6 months.. so I thought I had more time to catch up-) I even have an established relationship with the repo woman!) My complaint is that my car, that I need to drive my children in, is in repo status as of Monday and I had no notice or idea- and Honda will not give even a few days hold to get the payment to them! I need only until next week. They are all saying the same things at costumer service without looking into my individual case, which is very rare, and I feel absolutely that they are being unfair! I need to put a hold on the repo status only one more week, they will not do it.

I have a lease with Honda Financial services, that matured 5 months ago. As I called to discuss my options, and inquire about a lease extension, the ***resentative was very helpful, and said I could extend between six and eighteen months longer. He then ***eatedly assured me that I could extend by six months, then call back and extend twice more if I wanted the full 18 months they offer, each time the 6 month extension is nearing an end. I called Honda Financial services again, and the response I received is that they changed the policy, and they will not extend past the initial 6 months. When I asked who can I speak to about it, or file a complaint within Honda, the *** sent me to search on ****** for "the corporate number" which is a rabbit hole. I asked to receive the recorded calls, the one where I was assured of the option for additional extensions, and the one we were having at that moment. The *** said I should "talk to corporate". I told them that I ask for a number of a person to speak with, and they ended up saying they'll look for it and call me back. I said okay and started to ask a follow up question, but they hung up. When I googled "Honda corporate complaint" the bbb came back, so I'm trying this venue. I expect Honda to meet the commitment expressed to me, without having me jump through hoops to get there.

I purchased and financed a used 2021 Honda CRV hybrid from Pacific Honda in *********, ********** on April 7, 2024. I paid off my car in full the following month and waited for my car title to arrive. One month went by so I called American Honda Financial and inquired. I was told there was a title issue and to give it another month. I waited, no title. I called again and was sent a "Lien Clearance" letter to bring to my local ********** to request the title. On August 28, 2024 the *** told me that my car title is held by *****************---I was, and am, very confused and concerned. I called Mercury and was told they do not hold vehicle titles. I immediately called American Honda Financial again and was told that my car title had been released to ***************** 2 weeks after I paid it off - American Honda Financial was unable to tell me why the title was released to *****************. I paid off my vehicle May 1, 2024 and as of today, September 17, 2024 I have not received my title. I continue to receive calls about my "past due" account, even though my vehicle was declared a total loss on July 16, 2024. The account only became past due after the total loss date due to a delay in communication with my insurance company. Additionally, I am unsure about the status of the *** claim. Whenever I try to contact the total loss department, there are always long wait times, and I eventually give up.

I am rejecting this response because:The matter has NOT been addressed ...thus putting me in the very same place I started next month and month to follow for the next 70 months. It takes 7 days from the time they mail the statement to get to me. I processed it and pay it 2-3 days later ,and it apparently gets to them 15 to 16 days later. Other companies in that zip code and adjacent zip codes are receiving the payments mailed the same day ...from the same post office to them in 2-3 days.
They need to mail statements earlier if this is how they want to avoid putting me into default !!!

About 3 months ago I mailed my monthly car lease payment to Honda. The *********** lost the letter apparently. It was delivered, but several weeks late. Honda called & emailed me constantly saying my payment was late. I called and made the payment by phone. Then the mailed payment arrived. So I made actually two payments and received a notice after considerable delay, that I owed nothing on their latest bill. So I didn't pay it (again). Now they are emailing me again, with threats to charge "late penalties" if I don't remit a payment - for nothing. When I try calling and listen to their endless messages I get put on 30 minute holds. My ******** both have 820+ credit ratings and have bought/leased cars from the local dealer for over 15 years with never a late payment. We are sick & tired of the vaguely threatening ************** calls over this. We want them to call us for a change and apologize. You may assure them we have bought our last Honda due to this treatment.

      Complaint: 22259212

I am rejecting this response because:

I received an email from Honda, to which I cannot reply. They invariably insist that I call them. I have stated on filing this complaint that I am fed up with attempting to call them, wading through endless messages only to be put on hold for 30 minutes. Due to endless SPAM, I long ago blocked incoming 800 number calls. But I think it is fairly clear that I can express myself quite well in an email. And I made it clear that I have had enough of their computer generated email and phone duns for a payment that was paid twice and was never late anyway. This is not how I would expect long-time customers to be treated. It will be remembered when the car is turned in.

      Sincerely,

      D Early
