An acquaintance signed up for a membership and listed my name and phone number as a user. She provided her own billing information for the membership. I was not present for this conversation , agreement or whatever planet fitness considers this transaction. Apparently at some point this person stopped paying her bill . I became aware of this when I went to open an account at the ******** location. I was able to open a membership but was unable to use the app because this person had listed my number on her account and defaulted. I was told that I had to take this up with the Brighton location. After driving across town to the other location I was told that I was Liable for the other persons bill because I had used the club and they would not release my phone number. I expressed that I was not present for this agreement and had signed nothing, After the unpleasant attendant called the manager I was told again that I was responsible for this persons bill. I then went back to the ******** Location and canceled the subscription I had just signed up for and was told that I would not be billed further. This was also a Lie as I was billed again after receiving a confirmation letter. I would actually like to be a part of this gym. It's unfortunate even after subscribing and paying the bill I have to explain and have someone enter my phone number every-time I want to enter the gym.. Again, the app was not available to me nor was I provided a card I could scan. How in the world am I responsible for someone else's bill when I was even able to agree, sign or be present for this? Pretty scammy situation.Initial Complaint

I have attempted to resolve a membership/billing issue with this company for nearly a year. I have wrongfully been sent to collections due to neglect of the general manager of Brightons location (Chino). I have had multiple, in detail, conversations about the problem and he has failed follow up- causing me to be sent to collections and negatively affecting my credit score. I was notified again today that the new membership AGAIN is about to go to collects due to non-payment, even though no one has even articulated to me that there is another billing problem (failure to communicate by the staff once again). I need help.
