      This company is unethical and unprofessional. One of their representatives actually told me that he couldnt give me a pre-approval letter with a locked in rate, which is absolutely ridiculous and false. All pre-approval letters have a locked in rate to help buyers get the best rate. I also uploaded documents (had sensitive personal information on them) to their company website that somehow went missing. Supposedly their website crashed, etc

      MegaStar Financial Corp. reached out to ************** on July 28th, 2022. To date, MegaStar Financial has not heard back from ************** so it cannot address the issue.

      I have a mortgage with Megastar. When my payment bounced, because the website automatically defaulted to using my old bank account (my fault, but bad user design of website), I received no email or notification on my dashboard that the payment bounced. When I logged in, everything seemed fine and paid. There was no indication on my online account that anything was wrong. I paid the next month's payment just fine. Then I look at my credit score and see I'm delinquent on a payment. It turns out my payment bounced. I complained to Megastar and they said they went something in the physical mail, but it is not their policy to notify their customers electronically or put anything on their online portal, regardless of whether they've signed up for electronic notices. These are misleading business practices, because when I log in to my account, everything seems fine. I have suffered harm as a result.

      Per ***********s Web Team (the people who manage the payment portal) who advised MegaStar Financial it does not send emails when a payment is returned; only a letter to the borrower advising them of the returned payment per federal statutes. Email notifications are sent when a payment is received and or taxes/insurance are disbursed. The *********** website won't say a payment is past due as the payment was received (and later returned/rejected); however, payment history reflects when a payment is returned.

      03-22-2022: I have been overcharged $224.29 on my monthly mortgage payment re my property taxes for the last 8 months. On 02-01-2022, I mailed them a letter and my property tax statement and requested a corrected escrow account analysis based on my property tax statement. When I called today to see if it had been done, I was told that "the task was closed" & my corrected analysis wasn't going to be done. They "re-opened the task" because I said I need the corrected analysis done because I'm being overcharged, but now I have to wait again. In the meantime, I am still required to overpay on my monthly mortgage payment. They already had all the documentation needed to do the corrected analysis, so there is no reason why it was not done. Based on this, I would not recommend this mortgage company. If they do not provide me with a corrected analysis and refund my overpayments in a reasonable amount of time, I will file a complaint with the BBB to try to get it back.

      Terrible. Terrible. Spent hours on the phone being transferred to customer service, to a supervisor, to the resolution team, all because someone mishandled a payment and nobody else can seem to properly fix it. Got the run around from every single person I further spoke to, who would assure me this would be fixed within the next couple of days. Every day I checked, my payment was placed somewhere OTHER than my principal balance. Supervisors are upset that they need to spend their time trying to help you and I wish I had not business with this loan service.

      The **************** representatives are terrible and do not provide accurate information. The company is not honest about refunding escrow funds. I closed my loan in October 2021 and I am still trying to get the Escrow refund of over $2,000.00. They had sent it to an address with the incorrect city and zip code which was not my residence or mailing address. When they received the returned check in December, they did not contact me. After numerous phone calls, I received a check. I deposited and a few days later they put a stop payment on it and my account was debited the amount. RESPA requires lenders to return escrow refunds within 30 days. They are stating that I now need to wait another 30 days for a check, and if I do not receive it, they will have to put a stop payment on the check and reissue which would take another three to four weeks. It seems very fraudulent.

      MegaStar Financial Corp. investigated this complaint with its subservicer, CENLAR Bank.MegaStar discovered that a check was issued in November of 2021 for the balance of the loan escrow account (taxes and insurance). This check was mailed and was victim of the USPSs lack of service and arrived after the check had been determined to be lost by ************** and CENLAR Bank.Another check was issued by CENLAR Bank on February 7th, 2022.MegaStars EVP of Servicing reached out to ************** to ascertain that she had indeed received the second check and had no issues with the check.MegaStar appreciates ************** bringing the matter to MegaStars attention so that it may continue to improve the service of its subservicer; CENLAR Bank.************** has been made whole and MegaStar considers the matter closed.
