In 2022, I underwent four surgeries at this center. I had PT following each round at their PT facility. Things were going ok until I contracted Covid, which attacked my joints where I had the surgeries, gave me neurological issues in my upper extremities, and turned into long Covid. I am still dealing with all my issues and have about 60-70% use of my hands depending on the day, as well as all the long covid symptoms. At one point as I was growing increasingly frustrated, the surgeon agreed to extend my PT. I was not informed by Ortho Spine that my insurance allowance for PT for the year had been used up, and I was in no condition to know that on my own. The extended PT sessions were not at all helpful for my condition and I have had to seek a lot of care outside of Ortho Spine, and I am getting good care but at considerable expense. I have been contacting them for over six months to try to get this bill adjusted without a response. The bill is in the amount of $854.50. I finally just recently received a response that they were willing to adjust the bill to $685.50. It's not enough. I am requesting that the original bill be reduced by at least half at minimum, and I would like it waived completely since I got no positive result from the additional sessions. Will you please help? The account number is 191580. I have uploaded copies of the original and adjusted billing statements.Business response

Complaint: 20337679
I am rejecting this response because: I want the charges associated with PT dismissed in entirety. I will contact Dr. Peterson's office and request that charge be removed.I am dealing with long covid and all the associated symptoms...brain fog, fatigue, heart palpitations, shortness of breath, etc. When completing the original complaint, I omitted the most important thing. I realized it immediately upon submitting, but I was unable to edit it. So here it is:
Following my second surgery, the PT department at Ortho Spine totally mishandled my post operative care: I was not put in the sling I was supposed to get. Once Dr. Peterson and his PA Jess discovered the error after a week or two delay, they were livid. They came over from their side of the building into the PT area and chewed out the PT responsible, which brought her to tears, but she had made a huge mistake. Dr. Peterson, Jess and the PT apologized profusely to my wife and I. But this error caused a detrimental delay in my healing. And then, as noted in the BBB Complaint, I got covid etc. So the extended PT sessions were in part due to the PT's error.
What I said in the BBB Complaint is that I wanted the bill cut in half at minimum or wiped out. Reflecting on things, the only acceptable thing at this point for me is that the bill be dismissed. For the post-op PT error alone which had a direct cause in my needing additional PT and hence this bill I'm disputing. I'm sure the Ortho Spine Billing Team will see in my record what happened and Dr. Peterson and Jess will confirm. I'm asking they do the right thing under the circumstances and cancel the bill...it's the very least they can do.
