Last year I paid Viking Mechanical to turn on and close down my evaporative cooler. This year they did not answer their phone. I hired a different company who came today. When they went to turn the cooler on they found that parts of the cooler were missing including the floater which is essential to keep the water regulated. They cannot turn the cooler on until new parts are ordered. I had no idea that Viking took those parts when they closed the evaporative cooler. They are the only ones who could have taken the missing parts since no one else has worked on the cooler since last year. Now I will need to pay a lot of money just to turn it on and i have to wait until hopefully I can get the parts they took. A person in the trades called this dirty business.Initial Complaint

I originally called ****, the owner of Viking Mechanical, to reattach piping for my boiler that another contractor had cut through. **** convinced me that I would need a new water pump among other things. He showed me pictures of what he said were my neighbor's water pump and emphasized that mine is probably similar. The pipe was reattached well.**** had told me verbally that the job would take two technicians two days and gave me an estimate of $4500. At the end of the job, which took two workers less than a day, I asked him about the pump and he said it was fine. He took $200 off because I did not need a new pump. He also gave me a discount for paying with a *****************. As it turns out, he never checked the pump as verified by a second boiler professional. The pump began leaking within six weeks and needed a new gasket, which was replaced by another company. It was not clogged. Although it was not on the estimate, **** had also said he would clean the burners and make sure that everything was safe. This was not done. The original estimate also included an expansion tank, which was not replaced. The expansion tank was taken off the final invoice, but I was not given a discount for no expansion tank. The expansion tank had to be replaced by another company for $476.96.I had one zone that did not work and **** replaced the switch. This did not fix the problem. After this work, he did not properly purge the system so instead of one zone not working, he left me with three out of four zones not working. I called the next day, Friday, and Viking did not pick up the phone which is disconcerting in November. There was also a leak around the new switch. I finally reached them, I believe by the following Tuesday.Viking never provided a detailed invoice as to which part of the job cost a particular amount. They charged me $3370.00 for 7 different things and then broke out four other items properly.
