Jim is unresponsive to completing our job. He has collected all monies and continues to pretend the job is complete. He is unreliable and a man you cannot trust. We have called and texted and he will not even call back. We would the job to be completed and $10k in refund based on no warranty is provided.Business response

Hello *****, in response to this complaint I wish to state the following.
I have been responsive to all minor problems they did not like from the beginning. I have not responded to Andrew's abusive and threatening voicemails and texts.
I have resolved all but one item not completed to their satisfaction. (touch up paint on end cuts only) an optional item at that,
and I have offered to change that to their liking as well, with no response as yet.
I have also provided in addition to the original and factory warranty's, a supplier, and manufacture statement stating same, like coverage.
I have also repaired and replaced parts of his deck damaged by him and his equipment long after we completed the work at no additional charges to him at this point. And our crew did for him, whatever he wanted at that time as well. Last spring summer.
We have also had a factory Rep. replace railing parts at his request, with an additional upgrade again at no additional costs to him as well. These are parts that came with the railing initially that were not satisfactory enough for him.
Most of any delays were factory and parts delays to try to complete the minor details of satisfaction for him. Their deck was completed and useable for them sometime last winter so they could have it back for family times.
I must confess some minor delay's were due to 2 major emergency surgeries I needed to have during this time as well. But stayed working on it with the Reps. and workers, as able to also. Please note deck very complete and totally safe and useable in all ways for them throughout all of this time since we left job site last winter.
The job has been completed we are simply trying to, and as always, want to make it right for them now.
Also I would like to please note over 30years in this same business and name here with no such complaints.
I do not understand this complaint at all. Please advise if can.
As to three day's notice. I have been trying to get them respond to verify their warranty provision satisfied, as well as the end paint color preferences decided, so I can finish that also.
So, given an ultimatum of three days only left to respond, here is my quick response for you now pending not hearing back from them also as yet. That is why I did not respond immediately.

Ok as stated already in earlier response; Will clean and repaint end cuts with new ********** teak end coat color. That is what they have for ******* **** decking. There are other colors if you choose to look into it. So far most people do not choose any end coat paint, but again, happy to do so as agreed to earlier. Not charged for but we do not charge for that item as is miscellaneous by choice for us.
AS for the skirts they were the functional product that was purchased and installed as ordered from beginning. You had, in your words initially, a couple of them that came off to easily when shoveling snow. I ordered parts at that time to fix them and you did not want that. I then brought a supply rep out to look and he replaced them all with and up grade at no cost to you. As far as two more I am not aware of, happy to take a look to see what needs to be done for that.
Again, will be happy to come out and take care of these items ASAP.

I am rejecting this response because:As of this letter no attempt to contact to schedule a time to resolve our issues. Jim has responded here but no to us via the email we sent him nor called.
Happy to have this resolved once the work is complete, but will not accept it being resolved until all is complete.

Hi *****, not sure how to respond. I already made it clear I would be happy to redo those minor items for them in my last response. I am awaiting a response from them to schedule at time that is weather appropriate for this. I assumed they had received and read that already. I will add their email to this. Do not understand "Rejecting my response? Do not know what else to do, or say. Please advise a solution to help.

I am rejecting this response because:We responded with detail of what we expected to be fixed and there was no response by Jim for scheduling besides his responses here that he will. He has been stating that for over a year. This will not be resolved until our requests, which are minimal, are complete. Until then all responses will be rejected and the complaint will remain open

I am still waiting the snow and weather/tepm., to break so we can stop by to repair those minor customer satisfaction items recently listed by them.

I am rejecting this response because:As I stated we do not want correction at this point by Decks by Design, we have completed it ourselves. Once again the business is unresponsive until we bring awareness to the BBB. The last response was when the snow melts, and its almost winter once again. We cannot be satisfied at this point. Also we have not been contacted by anyone as of today but a supposed date of correction has been given. Please **** this complaint unresolved.
