In early 2024, my wife, *******, and I dropped off her GMC Acadia to the dealership in question for routine service work. After picking up the vehicle on a Saturday while the business was closed, while still in Seaford (the town in which the dealership is located), she noticed a part dangling from underneath the vehicle, but she couldn't immediately notify the business because, again, the dealership was closed. When the business called ******* on the following Monday to see if she was satisfied with the service, ******* notified them about the dangling part as well as the fact the check engine light was on. The dealership then said they would contact her right away to schedule a return visit, but she never received such a return call. Days later, ******* heard a scraping sound after carefully going over a speed bump - so she called again. This time, ******* either spoke with a representative or received a return call. She then dropped off the vehicle for a second time, and the business called and said the damage in question was caused by her and not by them despite the fact she noticed the dangling part just moments after pickup. Presumably after taking the dealership's position into account, our insurance company, Progressive, processed the claim as a collision (vs. comprehensive) one and would not commit to saying the claim would not have an impact on our premium moving forward. Since the business's actions were the proximate cause of the initial damage, they are, of course, responsible for any subsequent damage as well and, as such, should have made the repairs at no cost to us or our insurance company. In order for this complaint to be resolved, we must be refunded in full. We reserve the right to take legal action at a future time if a full refund is not granted and/or our insurance premium increases.
