My wife and myself visited J&Jaesthetics on November 3rd to partake in their semaglutide ( ozempic ) weight loss program. Instead of being treated by as advertised, ************************** or his wife ***************************** ( co owners of the business ) or their nurse practitioner ********************* we were treated by ******************************. One thing immediately notable to us was ***************** demeanor and actions. He acted like no doctor we have ever visited. He was cracking jokes which is fine but was all over the place when talking to us but when he offered to show me his **** where he had his hormone implants inserted I wondered if he was a real doctor. His actions in the office that day would make sense after discovering his past later that day. He seemed under the influence We received one injection each in the office at his direction and were given 3 syringes each to take home and administer once a week. He also ordered 3 prescriptions each to a ******* pharmacy. We drove 45 miles home and when we went to pick up the prescriptions the pharmacy told us they could not fill the third one because it was a controlled substance and the doctor had his lic revoked for drug abuse issues and they would not fill his script. We tried to call j&j but no answer or voice mail. My wife looked up the doctors name and discovered all the information on his drug issues. We then threw everything in the trash including the syringes as we were afraid to take anything from him. I called Citibank to dispute the $500 charge from j&j and they agreed it was a disputable charge under the circumstances, We already lost the money on the prescriptions we didnt take. Also the response from J&J to the dispute was we were upset because the prescription wasnt called in when we picked them up a complete lie by the owners. We learned from *************** that he was a personal friend of the hansills and and its appalling that the owners would put their patients safety at risk under the care of this doctor

Ref:  BBB complaint by ************************* #********

I was made aware of the BBB complaint by ************************* today (1/19/24).  We appreciate the chance to clarify the situation and would be thankful for any recommendations you could provide us with.

Listed in the complaint ******************** claims there were many issues which caused him to question the validity of our practice and the physician consulting him.  I was made aware of the situation the day after the occurrence.  We received a message from ******************** that he was unhappy due to the related issues.  I explained that if he would prefer to see a different provider, we would accommodate him.  I also told him if he would like a refund for services, we would be happy to pay back the consult fee.  Also, if he would return the medications, we would refund him for the product costs.  He informed me at that time that he had disposed of the medications because he didnt believe the medication was legit.  It was explained to him that he cannot expect a business to refund him for something he threw away.  (You cannot purchase a TV from ******* and decide you dont like to brand, throw it away, and then expect them to refund your money).

I also contacted the pharmacy which he stated declined a certain controlled substance (phentermine) prescription written by *****************  The pharmacist with whom I spoke stated, We know **** very well, he has been very vocal in our pharmacy on prior occasions.  When I asked about the prescription, he informed me that his corporate system (*******) blocked the prescription from ****************  I explained to him that *************** has a valid ******* license to practice medicine and *** registration.  He was able to see that on the computer but there was a block on his side that would not let him proceed with the RX.

      ***************:

****************************** is well known to me.  He was previously a Nurse in the ICU.  He later became a Certified Nurse Anesthetist and then a Medical Doctor.  Since he has background in all levels of medicine he tends to speak to patients on their level.  I would say he speaks to them as if he is their neighbor rather than a dominating physician.  He is unbelievably intelligent and funny.
Mr. ********* complaint listed ***************** deminer as questionable and his joking sense of humor.  Most patients appreciate his fun personality.
******************** also added in his complaint information about ****************** past:
*************** did have some bad years in his life related to substance use and difficulty after the loss of his wife to breast cancer.   He has performed ALL orders by the **************** ************* and the *** to continue practicing.  Since his recovery a few years ago he has been more than exemplary as a physician and society member.  He uses absolutely no substances.  He does not drink alcohol.  He if followed by a national substance recovery group called PRN which tests him weekly with both hair and urine drug screens.  He is also subject to random daily testing.  He has never been impaired in my office or around our employees, staff, or family.  He is one of the most intelligent doctors Ive ever met.  I allow him to care for my own mother.  Since his tragic situation related to his wife (with breast cancer) and his recovery from substances, he has been the absolute best provider Ive hired in this office.

As a new small business, we strive to help every client that walks through our door.  Although a few hundred dollars is easy for ******* to pay for an angry customer, it is difficult for us (especially when the client threw away the expensive product).  We market our services a greatly discounted rates so that Teachers and waitresses can afford to lose weight and look well.  The fact that ******************** can simply make defamatory accusations and hurtful posts about a great practice and a great physician is disheartening.  We work hard every day to help the obese population improve their health and feel good about themselves.

In hind sight, it would have been easier to just pay ********************, but he took product from our office and disposed of it.  This is not allowed in other businesses.  Why should we allow it in ours.  He became egregious and defamatory only after we declined to reimburse him for his total amount (which included the disposed medications).  We were, and are still willing to reimburse him for the consult fees.

As we are a new small business, we would appreciate any recommendations.  I am very concerned that this same individual will continue to hurt small businesses in the future if we allow him to treat companies this way.

      *****************************  (owner of J&J Aesthetics)

I have attached a ******* search page with ***************** clear license listed.
Unfortunately, the defamation currently by ******************** will have negative effects no matter the outcome of this query.  It is very sad that I have to fight to prove a recovered physicians values and abilities after he has already paid the price and completed all required orders from the board of medicine.
We have attempted to speak with ******************** on multiple occasions.
Please advise on the next step.  Thank you.

      Complaint: 21133407

I am rejecting this response because:

After reading the businesses response to the dispute I'm appalled that they would continue to spew false statements just as they did in the the credit card dispute, but even more so in this response. they did not speak to me the day after as that was a Saturday so I was not able to speak to them until Monday.   and I only spoke to whom I assume was the doctors wife who is the co owner and after explaining everything,  she  said she would have her husband call me and NEVER offered any kind of refund.

I travel extensively for work so when I landed from my flight I had 2 voice mails from which I assume was **********************; one voice mail he said he called the pharmacy and they apologized for not filling the script which has nothing to do with the reasons they would not fill prescriptions for that doctor and the reason I threw the meds in the trash   after hearing his message I decided I would not call back and just dispute the charge.  they never offered any refund or credit to me. they also NEVER offered a different doctor to see as they stated in this response.

To compare this to returning at TV to ******* is ridiculous, a TV can't harm or kill you but the wrong drugs sure can.  if I didn't dispose of the meds and drove the almost 50 miles back to their office like they are saying I should have , what were they going to do with them ??  sell them to another patient after I already had possession of them, they were syringes, ??  not very good business practice on their part. as far as the doctors demeanor,  for over 30yrs I have worked nationwide with unions and supervised huge union labor calls in the live events industry so if anyone knows if someone is under the influence, I sure do, as it is not tolerated and it is my responsibility to remove them from the labor call for safety reasons.

also I would like to mention my wife also passed away 10yrs ago from cancer and I did not become a drug abuser over that so I find it ridiculous that they use that as an excuse for the doctors drug addictions. I also find it amusing that the owners wife told me when I first called that the doctors ex wife put all the drug stuff about him online to hurt him and I should ignore it because its false.  now they admit its true and we find his wife passed away.  they have told so many false statements its becoming comical. they even claim the pharmacist said I was VOCAL ,  well I have known the head pharmacist personally for over 10yrs as he was the one who expedited all the cancer meds for my wife and I can give you his name if you like.

this should never should never have gone far, I do not get pleasure from reporting this to the BBB but the false statements they continue to make has caused this.  when something is the truth and its public knowledge it is not defamatory.   I drove 50 miles each way to their office and wasted $80 on the meds that the pharmacy would prescribe, metformin ( a diabetic medication ) and topiramate ( seizure medication ) which I'm quite pleased that I threw away and didn't take as a close doctor friend of mine could not believe we were prescribed that without a full medical exams as we are not diabetics.

once again I ask to put yourself in my shoes.  would you take or let your family take meds prescribed by a doctor that is a KNOWN DRUG ABUSER  and the pharmacy refused to fill the controlled medication he prescribed, I don't think anyone in their right mind would do that and would throw them all in the trash just like I did.

I believe the problem is the business cares more about the revenue they can make over the Ozempic weight loss craze than the safety of their patients. although they portray J & J aesthetics as a small struggling business that I am hurting by reporting this.  it is actually in the same office space as a thriving medical practice owned by the same owners of J&J.  So they should know better that the patients safety comes first before anything else.

I think its a small price to pay for them to refund the $500 I wasted on their service and they should have owned up to their mistakes instead of making up false statements to discredit me.

       Thank you

      Jack

      Sincerely,

It is obvious that this unhappy client will continue to pursue medial related false claims no matter what is said on the site.  He was given the option to return the medication to the office, he however said to us that he lived too far south from our office and he was not willing to return.  It again is quite embarrassing that he would continue to berate a wonderful man who lost his wife and had a low point from which she recovered.  Our company employs 3 individuals and 2 providers.  We do actually care about our clients.  Our clients have been extremely happy with the amount of weight they have lost related to their obesity and aesthetics needs.  Unfortunately, **** will not be happy with any outcome here.  He will continue to defame this practice as he is already doing.  Revenue is important to the small business, however we felt the need to stand up to this abuse of bullying.  **** was offered a partial refund however refused to return the medication and disposed of it.  This is not acceptable in any other instance related to sale of a product.  He may have disposed of this, used the product, given it to someone else.  We do not give medications out to any people who are not clients/patients of this office.  That was the need for the return of the medication.  How we performed business in this office is exactly as it is officiated by the medical board and the department of pharmacy.  We follow all regulations.  Again, we feel the need to stand up to this type of online bullying from someone who takes time and product from a small business and then request a refund.  The perfect analogy is eating in a restaurant and consuming all of the food or throwing it in the garbage.  Then, requesting a full refund.  ************** would gladly take the food back and replace it or give a refund but not after the client had eaten the food or thrown it away.  I am very surprised that the better business Bureau has not discussed this with him and stopped his continued claims.  Again, my office is still open to refunding him his service fee of $100 for himself and his wife.  We are still reluctant to give him any refund for products which he claims to have disposed of.  This would not be allowed in any other instance/restaurant/Walmart/Home Depot.  Why should the better business Bureau support this kind of behavior.  He was contacted on multiple occasions and then now claims he chose not to return some of the voicemails!  This is quite odd as his story is now different after our previous response.  We will continue to provide good business to our clients. We are aware that there will be an occasional client that is unhappy with services.  We will continue to treat any unhappy client with respect to clear up the issue immediately.  It is obvious that **** was not interested in clearing up his issue.  With this type of response and defamation I am certain that he will continue to do this to other small businesses.  His hurtful comments about a phenomenal physician was not only unwarranted, but completely disrespectful.  Unfortunately, it appears that he will continue his rhetoric no matter what the outcome is from this investigation.  I would urged the better business Bureau to research him further.  Our office can afford to pay him $500, but then again, he would continue to do this to other people.  My office is aware that each person's perspective may be different.  We are also aware that ****'s frustration with his situation may have impeded commonsense.
