**** was hired to prove the rumor of my ex-wifes death as true or false. He did a simple People Search type search usually costing $20. He told us she was alive. Fortunately I pursued it further and contacted ********** of ******* I found out she died in December, 5 months earlier. If I believed his incompetent search I would be paying $5600 in alimony a month. Instead I only paid one months alimony. I asked about a refund, and he has lied about being asked to do a background check. No, we asked to prove alive or dead, and he did bad research and came up with the wrong answer. It could have been more costly. I would warn others not to use him.Business response

I was retaining to complete a background on subjects ex-wife that was provided in a timely manner. I explained to him in great detail. It may not have a death certificate, depending on a lot of issues that are out of my hand for him to get the results that he was looking for you would have to hire and do a full-blown investigation contacting every local courthouse to obtain death records, all he wanted me to do was conducted background which I did and was provided this background. I have been in contact with his attorney regarding this matter and he agrees that. The background was provided and theres no RefundCustomer response

I am rejecting this response because:it is a blatant lie. It is also obvious that JLS Investigations would rather lie than even admit they made an error. They have no ethics. My email to them specifically discusses needing to determine whether my ex-wife was dead or not. I could have paid $24.99 for a web background check. With the same information I gave, and two phone calls, after JLS screwed it up, I was easily able to find and get a death certificate. I only used JLS on my attorneys advice. He believed them competent. He did not know they were lazy and worthless. I am sorry JLS will not do what is right, I will warn people on every web site I can.

I have spoken to my attorney. He disputes the respondents claims. The business is not only acting irresponsibly but unethically.
