The specific details are indicated in the attached documentation. In summary, Estrada Dentistry required up front payment to cover out of pocket costs for dental work required. Estrada Dentistry then wanted to change the treatment plan after starting the original plan. Estrada Dentistry does not have the expertise needed to perform the new treatment plan of permanent dentures and I notified them that I would be seeking treatment at another provider. I should be charged for the work performed by Estrada Dentistry which is less than $2,000.00 as shown in supporting documentation. Estrada Dentistry refuses to refund my credit balance of over $6,000.00 despite several requests from me. They will not even respond.Customer response

On December 19, 2022, patient of this complaint presented to Estrada Dentistry for a consultation. Doctor provided a professional recommendation of 30 years dental experience; years dedicated to implantology and restorative dentistry. Doctor presented to patient options for dental treatment. The most important one to note, corresponding to this complaint, is the option to treat his upper arch with an over denture by adding two more implants. This would benefit the patient with have a secure fit with an upper denture. Patient left office. No decision to treat was made by patient. On August 1 patient returned for a comprehensive examination. Patient did not consent to pursue with the overdenture option that Estrada Dentistry had initially recommended. Patient instead preferred to extract two deteriorated teeth and place two implants. Two teeth that were hopeless and required treatment. The initial cost for this treatment, to include a crown on an extra tooth and a healing partial totaled $10990. On August 3, 2022 patient consented to have Estrada Dentistry extract two upper teeth and place two implant crowns. Total treatment paid for this service was $8000.00.
Services to be rendered must be paid up front. Estrada Dentistry fully complied and treated with all professional protocol with the extraction and placement of two dental implants. Estrada Dentistry executed the entire treatment plan that patient had consented to have completed. Estrada Dentistry sent to a dental lab the final impressions ( can only be done when implants have been placed) for the making of the implant zirconia crowns. Estrada Dentistry scheduled patient to have implant crowns delivered on May 24, 2022. Patient continued to have oral health issues (other than the two implants that had been placed). Estrada Dentistry suggested, once again, to patient that he should reconsider the initial recommendation and have an upper overdenture. Estrada Dentistry went to the extent to offer patient the opportunity to postpone with the delivery of the implant crowns and suggested that the patient re consider the overdenture option. Cementing the already made implant crowns (they are currently in our office ) would generate patient more cost and discomfort if he was to decide to pursue with the overdenture option. Patient left office stating that he was going to think about his option for overdenture prior to cementing the already made implant crowns. Patient left the office and refused to return , demanding that Estrada Dentistry refund him $6000.00.
Estrada Dentistry has completed all steps and treatment that patient had consented to have done. The final delivery of the implant crowns remain in our office to be delivered. Patient has not returned and has informed that he has gone to another dentist with more experience. It is not Estrada Dentistry fault that patient has defaulted on the 30 years experienced doctor to deliver what he had consented to have completed.
Attached is a copy of services that were rendered. No refund is due. Estrada Dentistry has responded with certified letter to patient with response to his dispute. Estrada Dentistry has also responded with a clear explanation of benefits that have been rendered to patients dental insurance carrier. Patients crowns are in our office. He is welcomed to return to have them delivered.Customer response

Complaint: 20663156
I am rejecting this response because:On July 19, 2022 (Not January 19, 2022 as business claims) I visited Advanced Dental Care Specialists Corp. for a consultation. Dr. ********************** presented two recommended options for treatment. On August 1, 2022, I returned to Advanced Dental Care Specialists Corp. and indicated to the business that I would like to follow their recommendation of extracting two teeth and the placement of two implants. What Advanced Dental Care Specialists Corp. has intentionally omitted from their response to the BBB is that the $10,990 cost for their treatment was for an individual who has no insurance.
I specifically went to Advanced Dental Care Specialists Corp. because they were listed as a provider under the Delta Dental provider directory, and I am a Delta Dental insurance subscriber. To become a Delta Dental provider, a business must agree to a fee schedule outlined by Delta Dental and must also agree to not bill the Delta Dental patient for cost between the standard charge they would bill someone without insurance and the agreed upon cost as outlined in the provider contract. As evidence in the cost disparity, you will note as an example that the amount charged to Delta Dental for an implant is $2,000. The allowed charge for this implant by Delta Dental's fee schedule is $1,110. It is not my fault that Advanced Dental Care Specialists Corp. willfully violates their provider contract with Delta Dental and tries to extort higher than allowed fees from Delta Dental members. These discrepancies in cost are documented in the Explanation of Benefits documents previously provided to the BBB.
On May 11, 2023, I visited an Oral Surgeon who is not associated with Advanced Dental Specialists Corp. During this consultation, the Oral Surgeon pointed out that one of the implants placed by Advanced Dental Care Specialists Corp was not attached to the bone and would simply fall out. I have the documented x-ray from that visit which clearly indicates the implant in flesh only with no adherence to the bone. On May 23, 2023, I returned to Advanced Dental Care Specialists Corp for the placement of the abutments and crowns as outlined in the initial treatment. Advanced Dental Care Specialists Corp. refused to install the abutments and crowns and instead suggested that I alter the treatment plan to a full permanent denture. Clearly, the business did not want to place the abutment and crown for the non-attached implant as they knew it would fall out if they actually had the abutments and crowns at all. I left the business with no abutments or crowns placed and stated to them that I would need to think about the proposed alteration in the treatment plan and would let them know what I decided. It is not my fault that Advanced Dental Specialists Corp. refused to provide the agreed upon abutments and crowns.
On June 3, 2023, I returned to the Oral Surgeon who is not associated with Advanced Dental Care Specialists Corp. To seek their opinion on a full permanent denture option. They indicated that I was a good candidate for such a procedure but warned that if I were to go the route of a permanent denture, they would advise against returning to Advanced Dental Specialists Corp. for the procedure as it is a very detailed procedure and the evidence of an implant not being placed in the bone by Advanced Dental Care Specialists Corp. indicates the lack of expertise and knowledge required for a permanent denture procedure.
On June 6, 2023 I wrote to Advanced Dental Care Specialists Corp. and advised them that I would no longer be a patient of theirs and was seeking treatment with a specialist who has greater expertise in the area of permanent dentures. I also outlined very specifically what was owed to me based on services that Advanced Dental Care Specialists Corp had provided and the associated fee schedule as outlined by Delta Dental. Per the business, I have never received any abutments or crowns from them. Advanced Dental Care Specialists Corp. has also put forth other fraudulent charges for items I never received from them. Delta Dental has been advised of this and the fact that the business does not follow the contractual fee schedule. Additional steps currently underway are contact with the ******* Dental ************ ********* Commissioner. and preparation for legal filings against Advanced Dental Care Specialists Corp. for the money owed to me.
Sincerely,

My complaint is that Estrada Dentistry conspired to influence me to have them put dental implants in my mouth because they make the most money for implants. My 1st visit to them was on September 22, 2022 for an examination and recommendations. At that time that business was called Advanced Dental Care. I am attaching files that explain everything that happened, and images and documents. These attachments were submitted in February, 2023, to *************************** My Care/Credit card was used by the business to charge the entire cost of their recommendations, $15,500, was charged to my card after my first appointment that included work to my top, middle front mouth, which was only one part of the treatment plan.
