We are snow birds and left Florida on April 29, 2023. Before we left we phoned Bill Walther roofing office and told them to postpone the work until we return in the fall. The lady asked our adress and said that she would have the work postponed. However, on or about May 4, 2023, a crew from Bill Walther Roofing came to install some rain gutters, trim, ridge cap, etc. Our next door neighbour told us all about the following. The crew, no one spoke english - they soon left. A second crew came shortly afterwards and one person spoke english. Our neighbour told them we had called to have the work postponed until the fall when we would return. The person who spoke english told them that he had called the owner and the owner told him to go ahead with the work. So they did the work. Then a few days ago a lady by the name of Emilee Payne amailed us to say that they had been trying to contact us re a bill for $6,465 and wanted me to contact her right away re payment. I wrote her and said, first of all, we had never received any previous emails from her and even checked if anything had gone to spam or trash folders - there was nothing from her. Secondly, I emailed her the whole history of what had transpired which I explained above - I had phoned to have the work postponed until the fall, the men coming after we left, the man who spoke english who said he phoned the owner and was told to go ahead to go ahead with the work - but he had never spoke to me. Then even after I had conveyed all that history to Emilee ****** today I received a quite treatening email from Mr. William ****** in which he stated that if they did not receive payment within 7 days, he was turning the matter over to their attorney, to file liens on our property and serve me with deputies of the court and if payment is not received since the work was completed, that I would have to pay all atorneys fees and court costs. He sent photos and apparently the ridge cap was not installed. I told him that we would pay if work was completed to our satisfaction.Business response

On November 14, 2022 I signed a detailed contract for roof repair with David Agar representing Bill Walther roofing. Mr. Agar promised this work could be completed “by Christmas”. My wife was present through the entire conversation, as well as four other people who happened to be there, helping me make other repairs on my home. Several days before Christmas the work had not even been started so I reached out to *** ****. He came up with excuses all of which I have in text messages. He assured me work would at least begin by the middle of January. I again contacted him prior to that, and he claimed that things could not be started because they did not have a permit yet and that the permit was the hold up-which is ridiculous because the city changed requirements and lessened red tape to make it not difficult to obtain building permits after hurricane Ian. I again contacted Mr. Agar yesterday, Wednesday, January 18 at 11 am. I was shocked and appalled at his reply at 1:15 PM which said, “ I went by and they ordered the wrong materials. I no longer work at Bill Walthers. You can contact the office. I will be turning over all my paperwork and contracts to another sales lead tonight and tomorrow.” Needless to say, I am appalled at this unacceptable customer service. Please note, this is not only about work not being done in a specified time frame. It is also about deceptive business practice and being utterly outright lied to, not just once but several times. Meanwhile, the tarp on our roof is completely shredded in several areas, several holes and the sandbags have completely deteriorated so that the sand is constantly blowing and falling onto our porch, the sides of our home, our driveway and our outdoor items. We have tried to be patient, but this is beyond frustrating. We would like this work done now or an email that we can cancel our contract if we so choose to. We have all text messages and voicemails saved regarding this matter. Thank youBusiness response
