I had a lot of damage from hurricane ***. I went with k Simon because they represented themselves as a construction company that could do it all. LIARS! They are just roofers pretending to be a construction company. They put a crappy roof on with mismatched trim pieces all around. The gutters I had prior are not what they put up. Inferior work. Inferior quality. Nails all over my yard. They had the nerve to charge 45K for my shingle roof. That amount is DOUBLE what all my neighbors with similar size houses were charged for better quality shingle roofs. DOUBLE! For what? My insurance company isnt questioning the price or even negotiating. Simon is demanding every ***** while I sit here 9 months later with nothing but a c*** roof. Nothing else is being done to my property. They also added a 10% charge for being a subcontractor. I AM the SUBCONTRACTOR as Simon has done nothing but a roof. Im calling. Im comparing. Im searching for the various trades I need. I checked the ratings on BBB and other sites; all were good. Yet when you dig a little I now see they dont deserve an A rating at all. They are greedy pigs who lie to your face. My house is still not fixed. They are price gouging liars. Just a roofer; not a construction company. I believe their entire crew were illegal and probably paid pennies while Simon charges over 100% more than anyone else who did work in my neighborhood. If Im paying 45Kfor a roof, I want a 45K roof not a 20k roof for 45k. Simple right? How do you get an A rating? Pay for it?? The work is a D, honesty F. ******************** your evaluation please before others are misled.Business response

We are surprised and confused in reading your post. We have provided you with accurate, complete detail of every step of our estimating and documentation process in our attempt to provide you with exceptional customer service in repairing the storm damage to your property. We provided you and your insurance carrier with a detailed line item estimate based upon current market rates as determined by an independent construction pricing service. This is the same industry-standard, independent pricing service that your insurance carrier uses to determine market rates for storm damage repair work. Your insurance carrier reviewed our estimate and documentation, then approved and paid the amount that they determined was appropriate for the work we were contracted to perform. We agreed to perform the approved and agreed line items for the amount the insurance carrier provided for payment.
From my discussions with you via telephone, it seems that you are unhappy that your insurance carrier did not approve and pay you for additional things that you want to repair at your property. Because of this insurance short-payment or non-payment, you would like us to discount our contracted services on our roof work so that you can use that money to pay for things your insurance carrier did not pay you adequately for in your insurance claim. As we have explained to you on multiple occasions, we do not have control over what your insurance carrier decides to pay you on specific line items. We can only provide our estimate and documentation to support our estimate. Your insurance carrier makes the final determination regarding what they actually pay you.
We are a general contractor, not only a roofing contractor. All of our roofing crew members are 100% legal workers. We have offered to provide you with additional non-roof trade repairs at your property. But, you are asking us to do that work at our cost. This is not logical.
In order to help you find a way to work within the amount of your insurance payout on non-roof repairs, we provided you with direct contact information for trade repair persons so that you can contract with them directly, so as to avoid any additional costs. For example, you decided to contract with a gutter company directly instead of going through our company for gutter work, in order to save yourself money. We provided you with contact information for a local fence contractor in order to help you save money. It is difficult for us to understand how you are looking at us as doing anything other than trying to help you work within the parameters of your insurance payout.
We are not aware of any additional debris clean needs up at your property, nor of any inferior roof work. We throughly clean up and magnet sweep the grounds of all our customers at the end of every work day. All our contracted and completed work has been inspected and approved by the county building department.
We are happy to continue our dialogue with you regarding any concerns you have. We cannot, however, perform work at our cost just because your insurance carrier did not pay you for specific non-roof line item repairs. For more than 15 years, K Simon Construction has helped thousands of your fellow ******* community members and businesses repair their storm damaged property to pre-storm condition. We are more than willing to use the BBBs mediation service if you prefer to discuss these matters further through this free BBB service. Please let us know how your would like to proceed. As always, we are here to help.
