      The only reason I am leaving a review of this company is due to the fact that the owner is very rude and quick to take offense to any questions or any push back at all! Their website is not exactly clear to me from what I saw so I questioned the cost he was quoting which had went up to almost $1000 with him saying that there were many damaged parts, etc. Very difficult to trust a business like this when it appeared the owner also did not know exactly what was outlined on his own business website. A new power trim for my outboard is $1,150 plus tax and shipping online. Also, it cost me $21 to ship to them, but the owner insisted I had to $50 for them to return it to me in a new box and packing material. Very disappointing.

      This is a joke of a company. I recently bought a complete tilt/trim kit for a Yamaha 60 from 5 star marine after having issues from Amazon seals. After this interaction, I'll buy Amazon parts every year if I have to. I received my parts in the mail, started disassembling my unit, laid it all out on the table, and started rebuilding my caps and pistons. When I got to the caps, I noticed one wiper seal had a tear in the top lip. Usually this wouldn't be a problem with any other company, but it surely was with this guy. After I noticed the faulty seal, I immediately called the number on the business card provided in the seal kit papers. I thought I was going to get the warranty department, but it was actually the owner, Devon. He was super nice at first(and called me his "buddy")when I told him of my issue and told me to send him pictures. Once he received the pictures, he proceeded to tell me that I had to do the damage myself by improper installation. He would not take the proof i provided him as an answer and called me a LIAR several times. He was super defensive and unprofessional. I would've paid for another seal and shipping if that's what it took, but he didn't want to offer any help at all. He only wanted to sell me 2 new caps with seals already installed. (Another hint he doesn't trust his customers and thinks everyone is incompetent.) I have rebuilt many hydraulic cylinders and valve assemblies, so I am very competent for this tilt/trim job. So if you're thinking of purchasing anything from 5 star marine, please think twice. The owner doesn't care about gaining your business and is rude and unprofessional. I will never spend another dollar with this business. I'll deal with someone who values their customers and doesn't mind owning up to a simple mistake and making things right.

      I highly recommend Five (5) Star Marine. A top notch professional Company. Outstanding customer service. No pressure service with time to explain options. I shipped them my unit. I received an estimate call, 5 days later I had my unit plug and play ready with a warranty. So glad I didn't have to buy new OEM especially with the disposable units they are manufacturing now.

      I have been sending units and customers to the company for several years now and have been happy with their quality of work and customer service until this last unit I sent them. I send every unit with a detailed letter of what is wrong with it and what MY customer would like done on the unit. This past unit I sent them needed a reseal and a motor replacement that they verbally quoted me approximately $860.00 for. When they got the unit done and sent back to me they were almost $1500.00!!!! NOT ONEC DID I GET A CALL FROM THEM TO LET ME KNOW WHAT WAS GOING ON!. They replaced all these parts that they said were damaged from corrosion along with sand blasting the unit and painting it. I own my own boat repair business and totally understand that you never know what your getting into until your in it. But, I needed to know what was going on so I can let MY customer know and make the calls on what to do with their unit. I also never asked to have the unit sand blasted and painted. I was never called by the company to make sure any of this extra work was ok. So now I'm stuck with a $1500.00 bill that I'm hoping my customer will be ok with it. This is not how I run my business and I am not ok with any of this. After contacting the company with my issues they basically put me on the back burner telling me the owner will contact me and since they already got their money and don't care what so ever about their customers. And to top this all off, the unit was damaged in the shipping process back to me. A pipe that they had changed me to be replaced got damaged during shipping and I had to order another new one from the factory and install it my self. I have never had any issues with this company until this transaction. But I can guarantee after this interaction with this company, for now on ill be rebuilding all units in house and never sending or recommending this company ever again to any one.
