  My dock needed to be repaired. All framing and decking needed replacement, but not the pilings. I researched and picked a synthetic decking product. I went to the distributor of the product in ******* to view and discuss. The salesman recommended a contractor to us for installation. We got another quote as well, but eventually selected the contractor that was recommended to us by the distributor on April 17, 2023.We signed the contract and paid a $10,000 deposit, per contract, on April 17, 2023. Once demolition of the old dock materials began, I made another payment, per the contract, of $2,000. Most of the framing was completed after another week or so. Everything was going pretty well, a little slow, but fine. Then he told me the decking was arriving today and asked could I make the next payment for start of decking. I paid another $3,500. Some decking arrived but I noticed it was the wrong color so I reported this to him. He said he would change it out. Im assuming this was left-overs he was trying to get rid of. *** talked to the distributor a few times, and he has not made any purchases from them for any materials. I do have a copy of the quote from the distributor for all the materials for my job.Over the next 2 weeks, his workers still showed up sporadically, working on painting. The new decking never showed up and neither did he. He would keep telling me via texting, that materials would be arriving the next day. Eventually, he has stopped communicating with me. I heard from him the last time on Tuesday, May 23. He mentioned he would be here the next day. Since then, both phone numbers I have for him go directly to voice mail and messages are sent via text instead of iMessage anymore, as if the phones are turned off.Since its been 3 weeks since weve heard from him or seen any workers, we have made a police report to Belle Isle PD. ********** said there is nothing they can do, that this is a civil matter. The problem is ************************************ can no longer be found. Apparently he and his other company, IBL Construction, is being sued for no completing a fence. The Orange County sherrif was unable to subpoena him due to a false address he has given. He is also not the registered agent of the corporation with *******. Some other guy named *********************************. This all seems like fraud now.
