We hired Choice Kitchen and Bath to do a home remodel, which the owner, Ray W., assured us he was capable of doing. Choice began work in May of 2020. The project included installation of new plumbing, electrical wiring, roofing, and a complete interior remodel of our 1500 square foot home. Choice was also contracted to add a double car garage, laundry room, den, and a covered front porch. The job was supposed to take 5 months; after 8 months, it was still incomplete, and we were forced to terminate the contract and finish the work to obtain a certificate of occupancy ourselves. Because of Choice's delays, we incurred substantial expenses. When we moved back in, there were a multitude of problems with the work that had been "finished": cracking in the new concrete, the hot water line hadn't been installed correctly, t electrical issues, plumbing that simply didn't work, damaged (or unfinished) fixtures, extremely shoddy floor tile installation, poorly installed drywall, and landscaping that was never regraded (so that now it floods)--and that's just to name a few. We spent a large sum of money on this project, and we have since had to spend a lot more money fixing the various problems Choice left us with. These needed repairs aren't aesthetic; they are essential to maintaining the structural integrity and life of the home. I feel like we traded the issues that came with an older home for a new set of problems with a shoddy remodel. It appears that Choice simply hired the cheapest laborers it could find--and then failed to supervise them. On several occasions, Choice failed to attend City code inspections which only added to the delays (since there were invariably issues that the inspector flagged with each inspection). Not only did Choice fail to timely deliver what they promised, what they did deliver was defective and poorly done. We attempted to rectify this problem repeatedly with Choice to no avail.Business response
