Here are the details:On January 31, 2024, we contracted with Weather Tite Windows for the replacement of 35 windows in our home. The total quoted cost was $39,400, which included $200 per window for wood replacement of the outer frame. This wood replacement was necessary only if there was damage during installation or pre-existing damage, such as water damage.Out of the 35 windows, only 7 required some wood replacementnot the full window shroud. Given that the cost was specifically for the wood and not for installation services or the windows themselves, we believe we are entitled to a refund of $5,600 for the windows that did not require any wood replacement.Despite our request for a refund, Weather Tite Windows has stated that they feel they lost money on the job due to discounts offered and will not issue a refund. I have an email from their billing department confirming that the amount due would be settled at the end of the job, and that accounting would address any refunds owed. It wasnt until I followed up that I was informed we would not receive a ********* a disabled veteran with a growing family, I feel we have been taken advantage of and that our trust in a well-known company in ***** has been misplaced.Business response

Mr. *****,
We are very sorry for the confusion. We work very hard to avoid situations like these and pride ourselves on being a customer-oriented company. We take complaints like these very seriously and the feedback is appreciated. Much of our business is driven by referrals from previous customers so to hear that we have upset you is tough to hear.
On February 1st, 2024, you signed a purchase agreement with our company. The purchase agreement calls out that we were to remove all the old windows and replace with 35 non-impact windows. The agreement also goes on to list the type of windows, the locations, and the frame colors. It lists the estimated delivery as well as our policy on third-party rebates and shutter removal.
On February 12th 2024, we came out and did a final measurement so we could confirm your order for production. While we waited on delivery, we checked your order for accuracy, reached out to you regarding your HOA, and we submitted the necessary paperwork to obtain a permit with the county. When your product was delivered, we unloaded it off the trailer, checked it make sure we had everything we needed, then called on June 20th, 2024, to arrange a date best suited for you for installation.
On July 8th, 2024, your installation took place. During installation we try to reuse existing trim if we can and remove and replace trim if it is damaged. Our objective is to have every job weather tight and paint ready. Please note, there is nothing in the purchase agreement calling out options or specific charges for material on an as needed basis. Every window needs an array of different materials (screws, caulk, tape, shims, wood, sometimes siding and even stucco) to avoid confusion and ambiguity at the end of the project we charge a flat fee of $200 per window to cover the installation. This amount is included in the total contract price of your agreement.
On July 26th 2024, your inspection passed with *******************, and they issued a Certificate of Completion and closed out the permit. If you would like a copy of this document, please let us know and we would be happy to email it to you.
Our goal is never to upset, and we are sorry that you have lost trust in you. We completed the project in a timely manner and delivered on all aspects outlined in the purchase agreement. We are very sorry for the confusion, but we will not be able to provide the refund you are requesting.Customer response

I am rejecting this response because: it was told to us (me and my wife) the $200.00 per window was for wood replacement and not all the other items you just wrote about and that is the first time sharing that after all the contact I have had with your office. This is a plan and simple case of Unjust Enrichment where you charged a fee for something and now that you are asked to refund that money due to it not being needed or used, you are keeping it. Even the installers spoke about not needing the $200 per window due to the good condition my wood was around almost all. I have an email from your internal office telling me all refunds will be processed after the job is closed and full payment is made.
further more your reply to this complaint is not inline with the feedback from the sales person who got heated when I ask for status of the refund where he said it was not coming back to me due to him not getting a bonus for the sale and that the profit/loss on the job was too low. Same goes for your internal note as stated to me by another representative, where it was in the system that I would not get a refund due to some discount applied to my job that justified keep my money that was over paid per window.I ask once again, to return my difference in the cost per the statements, system notes and work done to end this dispute. You have the opportunity to do the right thing, take the ext step.
Sincerely,

New windows paid for 2/17/22, $15K worth of windows. Fast forward 2.5 years, and two of the windows have manufacturer defects. The company is willing to provide replacement glass, but will not install it. The glass has been ordered and provided free of charge due to defect. However, vendor refuses to install. Statute of repose requires the vendor to stand behind their work for 10 years.Business response

Mrs. ***** - we are sorry to hear about your glass however we are surprised about this complaint. When the Windows were purchased on 1/19/21 the products you chose had a 1 year "LABOR" warranty and a "manufacturer's warranty" for the product. Your work order clearly states, "Manufactures warranty only with a 1- year labor warranty".
Our service team has ordered the glass from the manufacture as per the agreement. When purchasing the products you agreed to the 1-year labor warranty. Therefore, we feel this complaint is unwarranted. You do not call out a specific statute only a legal term that does not apply to the product itself. Workmanship and product warranty do differ, and your service is for the product not for the workmanship. We are sorry for any frustration or confusion however we have lived up to the terms of our agreement.

I am rejecting this response because: I have 2 windows that are defective. I appreciate the glass was ordered and an acknowledgement was made that it is indeed defective. However, the lack of willingness to install the glass given the defect is concerning.Section 558.002(5), F.S., defines a construction defect as follows:
[A] deficiency in, or a deficiency arising out of, the design, specifications, surveying, planning, supervision, observation of construction, or construction, repair, alteration, or remodeling of real property resulting from:
(a) Defective material, products, or components used in the construction or remodeling;
Given the windows are 2.5 years old, I would expect your team remedy the defect under Florida statute. Installing the glass would remedy the defect, one of the viable solutions to resolve claims against construction defect per the statute
Sincerely,

On Nov 10, 2022, I had Weather Tite out to my home to look at the window that was leaking in hopes of having it repaired. I was immediately told it needed to be replaced as the current window was installed improperly and could not be fixed. With this guidance I got an estimate to have this replaced and a sliding door, which would bring down the cost of just doing the window. We agreed on a price of $9,500 to do both and post installation of both and full payment in June of 2023, the window continued to leak. An inspector came out and I was told that the issue is in fact having to do with small cracks in the wall joints around the window and they were not responsible. Despite the salesperson apologizing for giving the bad advice to spend $9,500, the company will not give me any compensation for replacing a window that did not need replacing. They told me to write a letter to corporate and when I did they called and pretended to be interested in hearing my accounting of the situation, but said they will not provide any compensation even though they have a guarantee of their work. The bottom line is that I had a leak, I was advised to replace the window for $9,500 and the work is guaranteed, and I still have the leak.Business response

It is always the goal of Weathertite Windows to make sure our customers are happy. Unfortunately, with construction some things are out of our control however, we work with the customer to make sure in the end everything is proper to the best of our ability.
in the initial request, Mrs. contacted us for a sliding glass door and stated she also had a window that was leaking that she would like us to look at. As per her contract, we replaced the sliding glass door and the window. Unfortunately, even though the window was replaced, the leak still occurred. It was discovered that she had structural issues that need to be handled with her condo association. This is not a faulty installation issue. We are unable to process a refund as the window was replaced as contracted. She should work with her association to have the reimbursement provided by them.

Complaint: 21739972
I am rejecting the window company's response to my BBB complaint for the following reasons:
1. The original issue of water leakage through the window remains unresolved, despite the
replacement of the window and subsequent repairs to the exterior of the building.
2. The company's claim that the issue is purely structural is not supported by the facts.
After their installation, I had the exterior cracks repaired as they suggested, yet the leaks
persist.
3. The company sold me a new window, stating this would resolve the leak. If the problem
was entirely structural as they now claim, they should have identified this before
recommending and carrying out an unnecessary window replacement.
4. I have incurred significant expenses for both the window replacement and the exterior
repairs, yet the original problem remains unresolved.
Given these points, I believe the window company bears responsibility for:
1. Failing to correctly diagnose the source of the leak
2. Recommending and carrying out unnecessary work
Not standing behind their work and recommendations I am seeking the following resolution:
1. A thorough inspection by an independent expert to determine the true source of the leak
at WindowTites expense.
2. If the leak is related to the window installation, I expect the company to repair or replace
the window at no cost
3. If the leak is unrelated to the window, I request a partial refund for the unnecessary
window replacement.
I look forward to the company's revised response addressing these concerns
Sincerely,

It is always the goal of Weather Tite Windows to ensure our clients are happy at the completion of their projects. The reason Weather Tite Windows has the great reputation in the marketplace is because we always stand behind our work and if any deficiencies are found we take care of them.
Mr. Otiss installation was originally completed in September. There were several small issues that still needed to be addressed so Mr. refused to make payment. We tried for several weeks to reach Mr. ** complete these items and Mr. was unresponsive and then out of town and then unresponsive again. By law we have a certain amount of time after installation to file a lien to protect our investment. This was told to Mr. at the time of contract as well as a document he signed that he understands this law. We understand Mr. had family matters that were unfortunate and for that we are sorry to hear, however we must follow the laws that are set forth. Once Mr. received the lien, he contacted us and the service was completed and final payment was made. At that time the lien was removed from his home.Initial Complaint

In spring 2022, we reached out to Weathertite for a window and door purchase, guided by a referral and engaging with sales rep ******* for an energy-efficient solution based on that referral, we extensively thought about a purchase and came to an agreement to move forward with Weathertite. Given assurances of energy savings from our sale rep, the products were installed in December 2022, two and a half months later than the expected delivery time. Post-installation, immediate issues arosefogging, temperature variances, and increased power bills. In July 2023, after reporting problems earlier in the year, Weathertite repaired the windows, but the promised energy savings did not materialize. Since August 2023, we've persistently requested an inspection to address ongoing concerns. With a request to escalate to PGT, ******* from Weathertite mentioned they were waiting on PGT. *****, ********* manager, reached out but provided no resolution. After contacting PGT directly and being directed back to the dealer, I sought assistance from my sales rep ******** but I haven't heard from him in almost 2 to 3 weeks. Despite repairs, my power usage increased by 200 to 300 Kw per month on average. They are unresponsive, and the windows only offer noise reduction. I need Weathertite to address and resolve this situation promptly as this is not what was promised nor is this the service that was to be given upon this purchase. The unresponsiveness to these inquiries and my constant follow-*** and lack of engagement from the business makes this hard to move through and come to a solution that was agreed upon when we made this purchase.Business response

It is always the goal of Weather Tite Windows to ensure our clients are happy at the completion of their projects. The reason Weather Tite Windows has the great reputation in the marketplace is because we always stand behind our work and if any deficiencies are found we take care of them.
Mr.Denecas installation was complete in December of 2022. In April he contacted us due to some issues with the glass for some of his windows. He also mentioned he did not see a reduction in his energy usage. We immediately reordered the glass that was needed and that was repaired right away. In the meantime, he continued to express his concern regarding the energy efficiency of his windows. His home originally had single pane windows. In our history in the window business as well as the manufacturers, no one have never heard of double pane windows being less efficient than a single pane window. It is just not logical. This is not something anyone can guarantee as there are so many extenuating circumstances that can affect an electric bill. We have also asked the manufacturer to assist but even they have stated they never heard of this.
We suggest that Mr. get a home energy audit typically done by the electric provider or a third party. The ACs, the temperatures outside, the insulation, the habits of the occupants in the home, just to name a few things, all play a part in kilowatt usage. The windows were installed properly and inspected to ensure this. If there are any issues with the windows under his warranty we are happy to assist as we have already shown in the past.Customer response

I am rejecting this response because:Allow me to provide a more concise overview and explanantion of responding to such comments from Weathertite. From the outset, Weathertite was informed about our home energy audit conducted through TECO. Our conversations with their staff and our sales rep underscored this crucial context. We were assured by the sales rep and staff that the installation of such products that Weathertite promotes for PGT would yield energy savings. However, subsequent experiences that we have shown and attempted to discuss has been quite the opposite. Our energy consumption has increated rather than decreased since this installation and again, no variable changes have occurred. To substantiate this, we have diligently collected, provided data when Weathertite has reached back out from our energy bills both prior to and after install. These records demonstrated a clear upward trend in consumption despite no changes in our usage which contradicted what we were told was guaranteed to happen. Regrettably our attempts to communicate this discrepancy have not yielded responses that should be satisfactory and or pride in the work that was completed by Weathertite. We have not seen anyone from PGT come to our house to review the install again despite being told this would occur. We have not heard back other than Weathertite staff saying they have never heard this happening before and yet they repeat this in their response.
Sincerely,

We are sorry to hear Mr. does not agree with our response. It is just not possible that 3 pieces of glass is not more energy efficient than one or two pieces. In addition year over year, temperatures have been both hotter and colder. We recommend Mr get an independent audit done to find out why his usage has gone up, however there is nothing further we can provide as the product purchased is the product that was installed correctly by our company. If Mr. has a concern with how PGT advertised energy savings, it is suggested he work directly with PGT to rectify this as no guarantee of such is on his contract with our company.Customer response

Complaint: 21252849
I am rejecting this response because time and again, I have stated and the initial complaint has been that Weathertite was going to investigate the installed windows. They have stated they were going to work with PGT to have someone come out. I have been told repeatedly that they had a case open for something with PGT and it ends up being me getting information at the expense of my time to get information about something that is not moving anywhere. I have been advised someone is working on this and it goes nowhere. Again, the basis of this complaint and Weathertite's response is invalid and shows they don't stand behind what they have said if anything is wrong, they are not standing behind their products or working with a vendor to investigate claims. They already replaced some windows and the problem still exists yet they say we as the purchasers are taking nothing into consideration. Again, we are told someone would investigate but never did. I continually call for follow-**** nothing happens. I continue to make the claim that we have the data and are well aware of environmental variables but they claim to get an energy audit that has already been performed. All we ask is they stand behind what we are told and were sold. Investigate the problems and make right that their products do not reduce energy usage. Clearly this is a crossroad that Weathertite is not willing to do and make bad ob the purchaser.

Mr. Heigels installation was complete in the beginning of December. Unfortunately with construction, such as window and door installations, there sometimes is punch list that needs to be completed. Mr. filed the complaint immediately after installation without giving us the opportunity to go through and create such list and fix the issues. An installation manager went out and went through the job with Mr. two days after the installation. Items that were not manufacturer issues such as stucco were completed right away and parts were ordered from the manufacturer. We explained, and Mr. agreed, that we would wait for items from the manufacturer then we would come to complete the items on the list as to not inconvenience Mr. too much.
To date the items on his list have been completed with the exception of the blinds as we were not able to fix them. We agreed that he would contact the company to come fix them and we would reimburse him. We hope **************** is now happy with his beautiful windows.Initial Complaint

Having had Weather Tite windows installed on my lanai enclosure a few years ago, I was totally pleased and satisfied with their service, craftsmanship and the quality of their product. So much so that I recommended 3 other owners in my complex to use this company when they enclosed their lanais. However I am on the verge of rescinding everything I have ever said about this company and letting everyone know via social media of the poor customer service provided because of recent events. On Sept. 6, 2023 a tech named *** arrived at my condo after I called and requested a service call. The hurricane tarps received with my windows for the 2 sets of slider doors on my lanai are now impossible to install or use, as required prior to a hurricane. Several of the bolts to secure the tarps through the grommets have pulled the plugs out of the holes drilled in my walls and some have stripped the holes. During hurricane ****** in late August, I could not have the tarps put up for the safety of myself and my home because of this flaw. I have used the tarps only 2 times previously, during *** (late Sept. 2022) and during **** (late August 2017). During ****, they could be hung fine, during ***, the damage to the holes was severe. These 2 tarps have only been used twice in their lifetime but now remain unuseable.*** told me there appeared to be 2 options: to secure the plugs within the holes with some kind of permanent cement or to redrill the holes. He took several pictures and was to return to headquarters and contact me about which option would be perused. I heard nothing for over a month. On October 12, I called again and a young lady answering the phone said there was no information in my file but she would have *** contact me. It is now 2 weeks later and I have again heard nothing. Needless to say, I never expected this company to install my windows and then abandon any need for repair to their companys product. I have tarps that were used ONCE as directed and every hurricane season since then I have not been protected by this product as legally bound by city requirements. This is not service nor responsibility this company owes me as a customer who spent a great deal of money on a defective product. We continue to be in hurricane season this year and I am not happy.I am asking Mr. **** Hollander to call me with a viable and resolute solution that will be done in the next 2 weeks. I am a senior citizen living alone, on a fixed income who paid him a large sum of money to be protected and there is no way he has provided that to me.Business response

************** did contact ** regarding issues she was having with the **************** protection and we scheduled the service for our first available appointment. Project botched from day 1 . Paid for hurricane glass on lanai was told a month later I did not meet current egress codes so had to get plexiglass which was NOT tinted like original windows. Door put in incorrectly, caulking a mess and screens ripped snd buckled. While I understand things happen I waited THREE months for new products to come in. Re install done 7/11. Three weeks later screens ripping and buckling snd bugs and grass getting in n under door . Ive called several times sent emails w photos until a young lady reached out and told me October someone will be out. Finding this unacceptable I called this morning and was speaking to a manager *** who was RUDE and sarcastic when I tried to explain the entire story. I was also told by a woman who claimed to be upper management when you do construction you incur extra costs. What? Are you serious? It cost me $100 to paint an even line around caulking mess original installers base and an additional $500 for solar shades since windows were not tinted. Original contract states everything will be AS IS only plexiglass !! Well AS IS should have included the tint on windows . I originally asked if they can swap out windows for tinted windows and was told NO too expensive. I totally understand stuff happens and have been more than patient for almost 5 months but to be spoken to the say I was spoke. To this morning was totally unacceptable and reduced me to tears I was so angry . These people that own this business should be ashamed of themselves for letting management speak to customers this way. I will give them one more chance to correct this as I want to be fair however, any more issues after 9:8 when they repair AGAIN Ill incur cost to have screens fixed and take it to small claims court! The quality of their product is not worth $10.00 let alone $10,000.00. This business is run like a five and dime store with management seriously lacking in customer service etiquette.Business response

Ms. is correct in that the original installation was not done up to our standards as well, which is why everything was reordered and reinstalled. The pictures attached to the complaint are from the original installation. Ms. was given compensation as well as new product at no additional cost. Unfortunately, she has been rude and demeaning to everyone she has spoken to here from the beginning, including the use of bad language. She expected to get most if not all of her money back and has told us that if that doesnt happen, she will go all over social media and bad mouth us which is evident here. Her project was reinstalled and everything has been completed now with the exception of two screens that have been reordered with the manufacturer and will be installed as soon as they are received.Initial Complaint

Purchased brand new PGT windows through weather tite. Our windows came in the following year, the workers that installed the windows installed a defective window, torn screens, and the wrong type of window in one of our bathrooms. They ordered replacement windows And had to Come out two additional times with replacement screens. They finally came to replace the window and screens but the new replacement had a scratch on it. Did that stop the employee from installing it? No. And there has been horrible communication. The workers coming out dont seem to know what they are showing up to do. This past week the second round of replacement windows were wrong and defective again. The company has not delivered what we paid for. Going on two years waiting for them to make this right.Business response

The homeowners windows, when originally installed had some cosmetic issues. While an installer is on the property for the installation, we ask that he install the windows with these cosmetic issues (this is not broken glass), and can then be serviced by our service department by simply swapping out glass and screens that are already installed. Rather than taking a whole other day or two to have new product installed, a service technician can complete that work within an hour or two. We try to inconvenience the customer as little as possible by having to take more time away from work, family, etc.
While we ordered the replacement parts correctly, unfortunately the manufacturer made an error and sent the wrong glass for one window and the other glass did have defects in it as well. We do not make the product and are therefore at the mercy of the manufacturer that supplies it to us. We apologize for the delays and errors, unfortunately they are beyond our control. The replacement products have been reordered and should be to us very soon and once verified, we will contact the homeowner to replace the remaining pieces of glass.
