On recommendation from a friend, i called T. Scott Roofing, Inc. to address a small leak in my laundry room. Tommy Scott came out personally to inspect the roof and identified the need for a new boot cover for the laundry vent. In addition, he made recommendations for replacing all screws in my metal roof due to signs of aging in the seals. He also recommended stitching the metal panels together. I agreed to the work and a price of $3250.00 and the work was completed in May 2021. I paid in full immediately on receipt of the bill. In August 2021 I happened to notice that my roof appeared to have irregularities, so I got out my camera with a telephoto lens and began taking pictures of as many of the screws as possible. What i found were screws that were overdriven causing the seals to bulge and tear, screws that were underdriven causing the seals not to even be in contact with the roof, screws driven in crooked, lines that were crooked, and improper screws utilized for the stitching, all in all leaving the integrity of my roof grossly compromised. I had another roofer come out to inspect the roof and he agreed the job was poorly done. I met with Tommy Scott in person on August 30, 2021, shared my photos with him and voiced my concerns for the integrity of my sub-roof. I told him the work was entirely unacceptable and that I expected it to be repaired. He agreed and stated he would get back with me when he obtained the supplies to do the repair. It has now been almost 6 months since we met, 9 months since the "job" was completed, and he has done nothing since that time but give me the run around. He ignores most of my calls and texts. When he does respond, he says he hopes to have the proper screw size soon, but then weeks and weeks go by and nothing gets done. I fear that my sub-roof is being ruined by the Florida rains due to over 50%, at least, of seals being compromised. At this point, I am completely frustrated with the poor performance from this business.Business response

It may not seem so but we have been trying to get the screws required to make this repair what you are asking for, which is it done the right way. Only within the last week have we been able to secure the correct screws, because a lot of materials in the construction business have been on back order due to COVID. We apologize for the lack of communication you have experienced, there were no updates on the progress of the materials so Tommy was waiting to be able to give you updated news. That is still no excuse for the lack of communication though, so we do take responsibility for that and apologize. We do have you on the schedule for your repair to be done March 29th, while Tommy is in town to supervise and ensure the repair is done properly and to your liking. I believe Tommy should have texted you with your schedule date, but I will be sure he updates you again if not. We appreciate you allowing us to fix this issue, and are confident it will be as you wish when we are done.
