Hello Ms ********, I submitted my tax documents this year through a CPA office near me. They are GCL... Grace C. Lewis,CPA. 813- 681-4548. Before I went there I checked their charges which was $240.00, I was told. I have minimum tax deductions and so very few pages of paperwork. I paid high taxes. Finally at the end I ended up paying $612.00 CPA charges. My papers were worked by an accountant Katie C. (not CPA) who works for this CPA firm. There was nothing special or no heavy calculations for capital gains or losses in there. I received only one capital gains page from Edward Jones, which could be copy/pasted easily. Only Tax deductions were Mortgage interest and charitable donations. I feel I paid a lot more CPA fees unfairly. These charges were never disclosed to me earlier. I bring this to your attention as I demand justice for their action. CPA Contact Phone: XXXXXXXXXX Contact Email: *********************** You received an email of complaint from Ms ****** ****** regarding her perceived overcharge on her income tax return. Ms. ****** did not have a complicated return. The complicating factor was that Ms. ****** required additional time that we did not anticipate when we first quoted her an approximate fee. She met with me for an hour the first time where I explained to her why she was going to owe so much. Katie had numerous conversations, emails and at least one additional meeting to get all of the information we needed and explain to her why she owed so much in taxes. I then had an additional telephone conversation with for almost an hour to explain further. A review of the time we had charged to her return revealed $888.75 of time. I gave Ms. ****** a 30% discount reducing it to $612.50. I do not feel that Ms. ****** was billed inappropriately for the amount of time we incurred on her behalf. However, it is not worth $362.50 to me to continue on with this issue. I therefore have sent a check to Ms. ****** for $362.50 reducing my fee to $250 (I do not know where she got $240 as we never quote this amount-nor do we quote exact amounts as we never know what we are going to encounter when preparing the return).
