I have a boat loan with this credit union since 2016. I wish to pay it off but cannot get help from the credit union. Frequent calls are either not answered after many minutes and then I am cut off, or the help I get (three out of six calls) is incorrect and unhelpful. I went to a local branch in Marietta today, only to find it closed (other than a backed up drive through window). All I want to do is pay off my loan. End of story. And this credit union is completely useless.Business response

I financed a car from Georgia Own on July 2020. The contract was signed and I was charged 35000 for a ****** *** 4. Payments was $611 dollars a month. During the pandemic I was sick with ****** so I wasn't able to operate my vehicle so I missed a few months paying my insurance. In June 2021 they started taking $1100 a month out of my account for insurance that they said the covered my vehicle during those months. I have not signed a contract to pay that. When I ask for proof that they covered my vehicle under insurance they will not provide me documents of the insurance they said was covering my vehicle. When I went to the tax office they stated that my car have not been covered at anytime by no one besides me my daughter and my mother. Ga Own have not covered my car under insurance and is charging me $1100 for a car payment every month and will not provide me any paper work. They said they will be taking this money out of my account for a year. I have not signed any paper or agreed to pay anything but $611 a month. They are scamming a lot of people with this insurance claim. Also my vehicle is issued my me. I pay that insurance and they are taking $500 a month extra out of my account for insurance they claim to have on my vehicle. They have none.Business response

Consumer Response /* (3000, 10, 2022/06/10) */ I have been waiting to hear from Georgia Own Credit Union regarding the documents for proof of insurance that they claimed to have insured on my vehicle. My vehicle have not been insured by Georgia Own Credit Union at anytime. In any case they would want to insure my vehicle. I would not agree on a sum of $500. Also insurance should not be apart of my regular payment of $611. Also I did not agree or sign a contract to pay $1100 a month for car payments. I agreed upon $611. I have been trying to close my account and credit card for six months and they have done nothing but give me the run around. I have sent a letter, fax and talked to people but nothing has been done nor will anyone respond back. I want my account closed.Business response

I want my account closed. Simple answer no need to investigate for another year. Worst place I have ever dealt with.
