I am mechanical contractor licensed in 5 different medical and mechanical construction services as a contractor in North Carolina, I am a senior project manager for a mid sized commercial mechanical company in Georgia They are the worst most unprofessional company I have ever tried to hire in 42 years of business. We contracted GOLD MECH SERVICES to provide a refrigerant install on new air handlers at fort Gordon, their tech arrived late, then got out of his truck without his personal required protective clothing and gear, refused to sign in and cussed out the general contractor and our Forman in what appeared to be a drug fueled rage , . Then the owner or project manager named TIM BROWN called my assistant literally screaming at her, I was looped in the call only to be talked to by an insane person , screaming and cussing us out and slammed the phone down and pulled his tech off, which we were in the process of already running him off the base. They have caused us to not meet a deadline, they were beyond rude in fact almost the point of being threatening. My next move is to contact the state licensing board.

      Gold Mech Services Response

      08/07/2023

I am Tim Brown , Senior Management for Gold Mech Services, Inc. in Augusta Georgia. This is a written rebuttal in response to Mr. Clayton Roberts ,Project Management for Strictly Mechanical in Conyers Georgia , report to the Better Business Bureau on August 2nd 2023. On the afternoon of August 1st 2023 , Leah Frazier , Project Management Assistant for Strictly Mechanical in Conyers Georgia , called the office of Gold Mech Services,Inc. in Augusta Georgia requesting immediate support for a project at Fort Gordon Military Base. The support requested by Ms. Leah was to evacuate the refrigerant piping on two separate heating/air conditioning units on the following day [ Wednesday – August 2nd 2023 ] at 8 o’clock in the morning and to return on Thursday morning August 3rd 2023 to complete the evacuation and to add a refrigerant pre-charge [refrigerant supplied by Strictly Mechanical ] because a factory start up had been set up for Friday – August 4th 2023 for both units. The units was Daiken brand and Addison brand as explained by Ms. Leah. I, Tim Brown, called Ms. Leah back to collect as much data as possible to try and meet her request. As I said to her , we are in the middle of a national and regional heat wave but Gold Mech Services would like to meet her request with confirmation of details needed for the project including equipment requirement , personal protection requirements , project manager contact information and time lines. She , politely , told me what she thought I needed to know to complete the task as described and I responded that this was like pulling a rabbit out of the hat but I would call her back. I ,Tim Brown , called her back and accepted the task with the information she provided. At that point Ms. Leah informed me to enter the military base at 1 o’clock the next afternoon which I jokingly commented that the task was getting more difficult but that I would shift the schedule to make this work . I advised her to contact the contractors entrance gate at Fort Gordon and I gave her the name of our service tech who has high security clearances for national , state , regional , nuclear facilities and medical facilities. The tech is a high ranking service tech who performs tasks on Fort Gordon on a regular basis. The comment by Mr. Clayton Roberts that the Gold Mech Services tech acted in a drug fueled rage is extremely offensive to me , to Gold Mech Services and to the service tech considering Mr. Clayton Roberts was not on the job site and he could not have witnessed this first hand. As a note , there was no Strictly Mechanical management staff on site on that specific day. The service tech was told to call the POC [Point of Contact ] , a Mr. Chris of Strictly Mechanical. Mr. Chris was not on site and the service tech was told by someone on the job that he had told others he would not answer his phone and that he would not be back the rest of the day. This presented an issue for clear communicated direction from Strictly Mechanical management. The service tech quickly surveyed the project and called me direct. The service tech realized that the project was not ready for evacuation as reported by Ms. Leah. The refrigerant piping tech said that the piping would not be ready until noon the next day on the Addison equipment. I advised him to hold still and I called Ms. Leah for direction. When I told her the project was not ready as described she became verbally irate either with me or the situation. Twice she popped off verbally at me and I asked her to refrain from her aggressive comments to me for I was only trying to pull the rabbit out of the hat for her. She popped off again and I told her that if she verbally abused me again that I would end the conversation and immediately pull my technician off the project due to the confusion. Please note Gold Mech Services Inc. had never supported or worked with Strictly Mechanical before and I and Gold Mech Services were not certain of the reputation of this company. At that point of conversation , Ms. Leah asked if she could get the project manager , Mr. Clayton Roberts , on a conference call with both Ms. Leah and myself. Once Mr. Roberts got on the call he immediately verbally attacked me accusing our service tech of getting on the job site late , of not checking in with Mr. Chris ,and of refusing to sign in on the job site. His comments were extremely attacking and aggressive. I asked him to please reduce his tone as I and Gold Mech was trying to get the task completed but the conditions of the project were not ready. The Gold Mech Service tech was told to enter the gate at 1 o’clock that afternoon. He did , for the service tech called me from the job site at 1:15 PM to inform me the project was not ready. Mr. Roberts angrily informed me it was to be at 10 o’clock that morning which is not the direction given to me by Ms. Leah. At this time I and Gold Mech Services realize a pattern of mass confusion from the management of Strictly Mechanical. The service tech has been accused of actions that would not allow him to have, for years , or to keep his highly sensitive security clearances which allow him access to Fort Gordon. These nasty remarks come from a senior project manager who was not on site along with the company’s other management staff. To me , Mr. Roberts is a ruthless and cruel person who viciously attacks those whom he chooses. I know and stand by our Gold Mech Services service technician and I have never meet Mr. Roberts. As the conference call continued , Mr. Roberts informed me that I worked for him by the hour and I would do as he said. He directed Gold Mech Services to violate the required procedure on the evacuation and to put a pre charge on the Daiken system all within three hours which clearly is not acceptable for the Daiken factory start up team. When I challenged Mr. Roberts on violating industry standard procedure he became even more irate and aggressive in his tone. I warned him again about the way he was talking to me and that I would not tolerate his language any longer. I told him it was obvious the project was not going well but Gold Mech Services and myself were trying to again….pull the rabbit out of the hat and I advised him to speak to me decently or I would have no choice but to pull out of the project. I advised him that Gold Mech would not violate industry standard procedures nor would Gold Mech Services violate Daiken IOM [installation and operation manual ] procedures for the sake of meeting his deadline. Dakin requires signed documentation confirming that proper nitrogen pressure test were performed , proper evacuation procedure for each specific equipment was performed as required before the factory will start the equipment. Mr. Roberts directed me thru Gold Mech Services to bypass and therefore violate the potential Daiken IOM procedure. At best his direction violates industry standards and therefore results in poor craftsman greatly reducing the performance and the reliability of equipment paid for by American taxpayers and deceiving the federal government of the quality performance of what should be reputable contractors. I believe Strictly Mechanical upper management would share the same mindset as I and Gold Mech Services do. Gold Mech Services has been in business since 1977 and all of our staff , management and employees are truly committed to excellent and correct work ethics while preserving the reputation of this valuable company. Please note the Mr. Roberts did not issue his complaint officially with the authority of Strictly Mechanical. He did this as an individual. My rebuttal is by me but with the authority of Gold Mech Services. I would like to close with several comments please. Strictly Mechanical did not contract Gold Mech Services. We were contacted in the 11th hour and asked if we could help the project. Sadly the project was not ready for the support requested . The service tech never signed in at the project because there was no Strictly Mechanical management personal on the job site to direct our service tech. The tech was there only for a few minutes and directed by me to pull off the site. In reality the project could and would not be ready for factory stat up as planned because the project was not at a point to require factory personal on site and Gold Mech Services was not going to falsify documentation or records to the contrary of required task. And Lastly…….. I, Joseph Timothy Brown , encourage and invite Mr. Roberts to file a grievance on me with the Georgia Stata Licensing Board . It is shady and deceiving tactics like this requested of me by Mr. Roberts that I am certain the Georgia State Board of Licensing would like to investigate and come to their own conclusion.
