We purchased our home summer 2021, and moved in Labor Day week from ***** ****** *****. We have had issues from the beginning big, small and cosmetic; we have reached out many times to the retailer, manufacturer and even mortgage company to have these issues rectified. There has been 2 crews sent out on different occasions during the last year but we are still waiting on repairs. Here are some issues with our home:- 2 windows warped and don’t open, No air/heat in 3 rooms due to issue with ducts, confirmed by worker retailer sent out,Floors were suppose to be hardwood but are laminate and ripping, Cabinets do not attach to walls properly in kitchen and bathrooms,Cabinet doors are not even,Water damage on baseboards, wainscoting, doors, wall in bathroom where there was leak,Water stands in drains,Molding, trim, baseboards are coming off wall, not hooked together, gapped,Floor in master bath busted up beside toilet, tile bulky in places like they are placed over each other to fit, and are busted,Front door offset, water damaged; storm door won’t lock anymore and offset,Back door can be bumped hard and open, offset, Both set of steps are coming apart due to underpinning crew threw them over instead of picking them up and moving them,Brick underpin is busted in places,Concrete on ground around brick underpinning ,Doors inside home are crooked,Carpet in bedroom looks like wall was moved and carpet was pieced/ sewed back together,Walls tear when you try to clean because they were never painted,Barn door crooked, Did I mention all the water damage?Tub in 2nd bath is gapped against wall,Molding around fireplace has 2 in gaps, Bedroom has places on ceiling and walls that looks like someone tried to repair or prime it,Busted places around windows and other things but I’m running out of characters. Our experience that was suppose to be happy and exciting has been forever tainted by poor craftsmanship and lack of after sale customer service.Business response

I have filed a complaint before. However, Scotbilt sent a worker out to my home today, 10.4.2022 he was here approximately 1 1/2 hours. He fixed 3 things, my windows (fire hazard) and ac/heat unit or ducts were not fixed. The worker arrived and my wife was fixing soup in the kitchen, she spoke and he continued to follow me to a leak that has started molding in the master bathroom. My 4 adult fixed 7 yr old cats were lounging on the sofa and my 8 month old GSD was in her kennel. Later, my wife was showing the worker how moisture is coming from under the house through this make shift seal they put on the floor and destroying the molding( it is bowed out and the paint has come off) she looked at him and said “ they did a half *** job putting our home together”, the worker looks my wife in her face and proceeded to say, “ No, it’s not that those cats you have are destroying this house, they have feces all over the walls and they have sprayed everywhere, you are immune to it but your house stinks so bad I puked when I walked in”, my wife explained that our cats are fixed and don’t spray, he called her a liar. If he hadn’t had my wall taken apart I would have asked him to leave. My wife that is having back surgery on 11.8.22, and has Lupus went into another room and cried because of the disrespect this worker showed us in our home. Scotbilt cannot blame my pets that we clean up after on the crappy job they did on this home, we have pictures from the first day we came in that show the same exact things that need repair now, that was before we moved in. How can you send a person into someone’s home like that? I’m positive it’s because we are a mixed family that we are receiving this treatment. We spent $147,000 + on a piece of junk. We shouldn’t have to spend more money on a lawyer to have our home repairs completed; the worker even said that we were the ones that had to paint, not Scotbilt. You can see the nails in our walls. This is ridiculous.Business response

I bought a home in April that was manufactured by this company. I have been told since May that items in the house would be fixed. These are not minor issues that need to be fixed. The AC in my son's room is not working, my front door fell off the hinges, lights don't work in my kitchen, multiple areas where trim work is busted, misaligned, non-existent, toilets aren't fastened down, the list goes on and on. Now the entire AC unit is not working properly. The coils are freezing up on the unit inside and outside. I have been in contact with the service department to try and get these things taken care of. I have been told that I am 5 hours away and they don't have a contractor this far out. Not my problem! You knew that when you sold and delivered the home. Also, emergency items such as AC and front door off the hinges should not be put off for weeks like they have. Then you are going to tell me that you aren't responsible for outside AC unit....ok, but the inside is what is freezing up along with the outside. It all goes together. There could be a kink in the duct work which you would know if you would have someone look at it.Business response

Hello Mrs. ********,
My name is ******** ****** from ScotBilt Homes. We have a work order generated on your home to get these remaining repairs completed, we are limited resources but trying very diligently to get all orders addressed appropriately. Your order was submitted on June 24th; when it comes to your AC unit, the inside unit we are only responsible for the connection of the furnace if the issue is an connection issue we will most definitely get this addressed; if the issue is with the furnace itself, you will need to contact the furnace company. The outside unit was installed and part of the sale of the home from the retailer, you will need to contact the retailer and have them come address the possible issue with the outside unit.
The furnace company is Nortek/ Ph# ************/ The model # ********/ Serial # *************
We will be getting your order out with a service tech, just as quickly as possible. For any future help or assistance; feel free to contact me or your customer service rep.

I purchased my new manufactured home around august of 2021 and it came with a one year warranty. I have a list of issues that need to be addressed, but have yet to get their attention. several months ago I informed scotbilt that the AC unit was building up moisture. scotbilt ignored this issue, and now with summer here, the moisture issue is worse and is beginning to damage the subfloor under the inside blower unit. In addition, I believe the moisture isssue is related to the AC units inability to cool sufficiently right now. I need scotbilt to send someone out immediately before the damage causes the floor to give. This issue is also wasting electricity, resulting in higher electric bills for me.Business response

Mr. *****, we need some mor information in order to assist. Who did you purchase your home from? Do you know the serial number to your home? As the home manufacturer, we do not install ac units. This required to be done once the home is purcahased, delivered, and setup on site. If the retailer included the ac in the purchase of the home, then we need to alert them to this concern. I will be happy to help with this. Feel free to contact us at ************. You may select the prompt for the correct CSR or for the service manager, IF they are on the phone, please leave a message so that they may contact you back.Initial Complaint

I have 2020 scotbilt home I purchased from an individual in 2021 that bought it new in 2020. I have been in the home since October 2021. I recently found that the builder has cut main structure supports under the tube(pictures) and in the wall behind the stove no pictures. They cut the 2x6 wall support that runs to the roof. They also cut the truss in the subfloor to install the plumbing for the tub. The tub by the way has the pee trap way to close the the drain and causing drain is. My main concern is the cutting of structure supports to fit things in the home.Business response

All NEW homes come with a non-transferable limited 1-year warranty. The home was built in accordance with the HUD code. If you wish to contact us directly to discuss further please call ************, It appears Mr. ******* did not purchase a New ScotBilt product from one of our Licensed retailers, he purchased a used home from a private seller.Customer response

I am rejecting this response because: you are selling people new homes with faulty Craftsmanship. You have walls that are bode trusses that are cut walls that they’ve taken two by sixes and cut in half and packed up and reran wires incorrectly these homes should not even be allowed to be sold in the condition that you’re giving him to a homeowner who bought it brand new. These problems were existing in the home before I made the purchase and it just shows the quality of work that you do as a company.

It is unfortunate you feel this way, again the home was not purchased "NEW" by this consumer from a licensed retailer. When built as new the home was built by the HUD code. The original purchaser received a 1 -year limited warranty with the purchase of the home. Mr. ******* has purchased the home from the original purchaser, any contractual agreements or warranties are strictly between the original purchaser and seller at this point. We are more than willing to discuss this matter further if you will contact our office at ************. By contacting our office, we will be able to review the home file associated with the new sale of the home and update the consumer information card in case there is any reason we may need to reach you in the future in reference to the home you purchased. You may find a copy of the consumer information card in the front of the green homeowner's manual that was with the home when sold as NEW.

We purchased a Scott built home that is a year old and have soft spots down the seems of the floors. We purchased the home on property set up from another couple who were the original owners. We moved in and noticed a soft spot in the floor.I then noticed that if you run the length of the house there is a soft sport every so often in a line in the floors. I was told by the builder that the warranty is one year and both can be done. Also the electrical is shady and flickers with the dishwasher working and sometimes on its own. The vent for the hood range has missing insulation and studs that were cut in two to make a hole. Please help. Moved in October 31st 2021. Trailer has been on property since July 2020.Business response

I am rejecting this response because: business called me and apparently no warranty over a year and nothing transferred. So I am stuck with a 1 year old home that has soft floors because they don’t want to fix anything or warrant anything more than a year. And nothing for a second hand buyer. It’s a poor design trailer and all who buy from them need to be warned.
Regards,

Good afternoon, it was explained on the phone call that the warranty was for 1 year and is expired. It was also explained that the warranty is not transferable, and *** ******* bought this home second hand from a private party. It was also explained that the likely cause of the floor issue was from voids in the bottom board of the home, that is a black vapor barrier that holds up the insulation. At the time of a new home sale, the retailer is responsible for making sure the bottom board is sealed properly, after that it is a homeowner responsibility to make sure it is maintained.
