SO DISAPPOINTED - only positive was they were there the same day we called. Very Poor Communication .... some workers didn't speak English so my husband had no idea what was going on - lead *********** came initially but then was gone while the workers were ripping out the pad and moving all our stuff around in the basement. ProRestore didn't say the process so we didn't know exactly what to expect - brought the power converter 2nd day then hooked all the fans up & dehumidifiers but if we would've known it would've taken a large power source (our Dryer outlet) we would've gotten all our laundry done before because then our Dryer was unplugged and couldn't be used for 5 days - so this converter could run all the ************ equipment luckily we have solar panels and our electric bill only went up $40 but I am sure it would've been a couple hundred more. We received an initial bill & estimate for insurance but it only had Carpet cleaning but the carpet glue was coming apart in many areas.. so let AJ know he did another estimate .... I let him know his workers set my wedding dress with wet bottom right over other clothes on the guest bed downstairs and a wet sack of clothes in our leather dual recliner... he said they could dry clean them.... I took care of the stuff myself as I had no faith in this employee. So I started going around the basement and found drywall falling apart - the sink vanity wood expanded and was damaged....all they were going to do was patch the holes in ************** the Trim back over it... I called and asked for the owner to come ...he came the next week needless to say the Mitigation estimate was edited as we were over charged initially by @ $600... and took 4 estimates to get to a final one. To be followed up with receiving a mechanic's lien notice.... 11 days after the final estimate & correct Mitigation bill. Over priced many items - sad because they were referred to me.ProRestore DKI Response

As noted in complaint, the owner inspected upon request from the customer on June 3 to inspect the water damage. The owner and customer went over the water damage and the owner communicated that he would review the mitigation charges and the estimate for repairs. The owner also updated the customers on the process going forward before he left the onsite meeting. Upon the owners review, he revised the water mitagatio invoice to remove errors and updated the repair estimate to fully cover the damage. The owner provided the updated repair estimate and revised mitigation invoice to the customer within 2 days of the inspection on June 5th. He also let them know when mitgation invoice was paid, DKI would start the repairs as soon as possible. The customers paid the mitiagtion invoice on June 17th. On June 20th, the owner called the customer to ask them if they would like DKI start the repairs. The owner also stated that a mechanic lien has never been filed. The only filing was a Commence of Work which is a required filing by the State of Iowa when mitigation and/or repairs are completed to a residential property. The customer stated he will get back to owner if they want DKI to complete the repairs. The owner recognizes and is sorry for the lack of communicate to customer prior to him inspection the water damage. DKI strives to keep cusomers happy and a strong online rating.Review from Kim C

WAY overpriced for flooring and painting. Revised estimate was unreasonable - 80% more for additional costs of paint - and they decreased the bill slightly. The original estimate was $10.8k and final $21k, mostly for painting and flooring an 800 square foot apartment. They removed some charges for parking fees and waiting to use the elevator, which was ridiculous. Work was done in an apartment building where they’d worked before. It was my brother’s apartment and he passed away. As a person grieving, a woman, and someone who lived out of town, I felt taken advantage of. The final invoice included items they’d forgotten in the original estimate - not my problem. And they had to use subcontractors who didn’t do as high a quality of work. Also not my problem. They wanted me to sign the certificate of completion during the on-site walk through, where we discovered some minor things to be addressed. They fixed them and provided photos. They tried to bill me before the work was complete and before I signed off on the rework. They refused to break down the invoice in meaningful, understandable units, like 1st round of painting requested initially, 2nd round of painting (which was needed and I approved), flooring, and miscellaneous (new blinds and closet doors). Instead, the invoice had a few labor hours for management and everything else had units, e.g., 21.33 units to replace and shoe a baseboard. I talked to friends experienced in remodeling and working with remodeling and everyone agreed it seemed like price gauging. Also they were surprised the on invoice wasn’t broken out by materials and labor, original vs. additional painting. The Project Manager AJ was nice work with. I’d used this company for cleaning out the apartment and donating items and they did a great job.Review from Laurie R

Kent was great to work with! We dealt with some insurance issues and he was patient throughout the process and helped to get the issues resolved. We are very happy with the quality of work- new roof and interior work fixing water spots on the ceiling.ProRestore DKI Response
